THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
As far as he deems necessary — which is to say, just about everything is on the table, as long as he can understand the reasoning for doing something. It's the latter part that's particularly important; unless he regresses, his days of blindly obeying someone are behind him. But if he can see the logic in a particular action, he'll take it. And he does operate very strictly off of logic, no sentiment — so if taking a life is the most efficient way to accomplish something then he'll do it, and feel nothing. This does mean that even killing a close friend would be on the table — as long as he can see the logic in doing it.

The one thing he would not do is harm a child in any way; he'd be willing to let all universes die in order to protect a kid. It's the one non-starter for him.

What is something they treasure?
Kids, basically. Childhood innocence and safety are things he would preserve above all else; everything else is pretty much meaningless to him. He knows what it's like to not even have a chance when growing up, and he doesn't want that for anyone, ever.

Otherwise? He's very detached and unsentimental.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
— Getting shit done. Need a task done, no matter how morally dubious it is? He'll do it. Hell, he'll gladly take over for someone he believes would be hurt if they followed through on a certain action (e.g. killing someone).
— Loyalty. As long as he's decided you're one of his people or someone he should follow he'll do pretty much anything for you. There's something to be said for someone you care about knowing that you have their back.
What is this character's best memory?
He doesn't really have one, considering how devoid of sentiment he is. He doesn't look back on things, he just keeps moving forward.

However, if he was pressed on it — and it would take him a while to figure something out — it'd be the little, everyday, ultimately unremarkable moments. Here's an atmospheric vibe. Or just things like getting to be with his people and seeing them happy, like enjoying a good meal with them or sitting on the sidelines while they have a friendly debate. Just being with them is enough for him.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
From canon:
James Holden. His captain, best friend, and chosen proxy moral compass. He'll do pretty much whatever he says because he believes him to be a fundamentally good person. Would die for him.
Naomi Nagata. As a mechanic, she's the engineer he works under; his chosen moral compass before Holden, though their relationship is somewhat fractured at his canon point. Would die for her.
Clarissa Mao. Mass-murdering terrorist he kinda accidentally busted out of prison because he knows she wishes she could be a better person. He needs guiding lights in his life to try to live like a good person — see Holden and Naomi — and he's decided to try to be that guiding light for Clarissa. Would die for her.

Needs to be noted that while he loves these three deeply, he assumes they've all been dead for at least a year now and has moved on. He wouldn't be meaningfully tempted by the idea that they could be brought back.

Massive bonus: Lydia. Content warnings for prostitution, child prostitution, child sexual abuse, statutory rape, pseudo-incest.

Lydia was, essentially, Amos' adoptive mother. His biological mother was a prostitute; she died when he was young, and Lydia — a friend of hers and fellow prostitute — took over raising him, including when he was forced into prostitution as a child. At some point their relationship turned sexual as well, and she regularly raped him. He does not see it as rape.
Lydia is the person who taught Amos the value of having a guiding figure in his life; she's the entire reason he adopts other people as moral compasses for him to emulate to begin with. She gave him a life skill that simultaneously allowed him to make a good life for himself while also making him constantly doubt himself.

From his canon point she's dead, he knows she's dead, he knows she died peacefully in her sleep, and he has for the most part moved on — though I can't say for sure if he wouldn't like to see her again... He hasn't seen or spoken to her since he was 15. She facilitated a way out of a dead-end life for him; he took it, and he never once looked back, even though this did hurt her in its own way and she longed to see him again at some point.
From the game:
— Yima. Due to the nature of Amos' arrival in-game his first impression of her was strong — she reminded him of Lydia, his first moral compass, and if this is the end of all worlds then it only makes sense he'd find someone like her again. She's essentially his moral compass now, and somebody he wants to please, and do right by, and do everything he can for — because their philosophies align; because she's a good person; because she can give him purpose; because of feelings he couldn't begin to explain but she seems to intrinsically know (because she'd know of Lydia). Does he love her? Maybe?? In what way? Let's not go there; he sure as shit doesn't know, but he trusts her with every fibre of his being.
— Zenith as a whole. They're his people; he wants to look out for them, particularly those who seem like they might need it. Amos is intrinsically drawn towards those who came from abusive backgrounds or had shitty childhoods in one way or another, and is the type to want to protect and help any way he can. That doesn't mean he's good at it, but he wants to be someone his fellow Zenites can count on — or for anyone else who might need it, too.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
The only actual principle he has is that kids should be protected, and it feels like the only thing that could dissuade him from that would be the idea that even more kids could be hurt. He really, literally would let the universe die to protect a child; he is a very simple man and this is the only thing he actively cares about on his own.

What do they desire above all else?
Big picture: A good environment for kids to grow up in. He knows what it's like to not have that. He tends to be drawn to people who haven't had that. He wants that for everyone more than anything else.

Personally: To get to live comfortably and happily alongside his people. What happened to him happened, and he's found his own way to deal with it so he can continue living. And while he's continuing living, he just wants to be with his people.

What are their biggest fears and/or insecurities?
Loss of agency. He can handle just about anything, but try to take away his freedom and he'll lash out. Threaten to imprison him and he's likely to turn violent and murderous without warning; if it's a fight he'll lose, then that's okay — as long as he dies from it. There are things worse than death, and losing his say in what happens to him is one of them. Having no way to look out for himself or fight back is another trigger that could result in a suicide attempt if he sees no way out (a potential example of what could cause this would be being blinded/immersed in total darkness).

What is this character's worst memory?
He was a child prostitute, so this is self-explanatory.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
Child abusers. People who get off on being, well, evil. (When he kills people it's just something he does; when someone kills people and they're getting off on it? Yeah no they've gotta die.) People with flippant morals and who don't seem like they take the important things seriously, or who act like they're above others; the idea of gods does tend to rankle him some.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
Literally anything that feels physically good — good food, good booze, a space that's luxurious and his own... He grew up poor and then when he wasn't poor he was in space where resources are scarce, so being able to immerse himself in the material is a thrill of its own.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
Guns up to his 24th-century standards (or beyond??). Ammunition. Though at this time I'm still taking things slow there, but maybe he'll get a wholeass armoury at some point...!

Anything practical. This could include tools since he has a repair shop now, or anything that'll aid him in working with his hands.

And, failing everything else, since he's an unsentimental bastard which makes him impossible to shop for — really just giving him a bottle of alcohol would make him happy. That, or absolutely nothing! That's also acceptable by his standards.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
I absolutely do not expect this in any way because of its likely gamebreaking nature but the Rocinante, the spaceship he used to live on with his favourite people.

We might be swinging towards bear imagery stuff now — although it'll be a lot easier for him to roll with it as long as it has some kind of use and isn't purely decorative!

Miru compared the shards of loved one Zenites receive to Tamagotchi. Since Amos never asked for anyone's shard, I think he should get a Tamagotchi so he has something to carry around and take care of. Even if it's substantially less important than the actual shard of an actual loved one. Tamagotchi for Amos.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
Corruption, baby.

Amos is someone who wants to do good — but carries the capacity to do incredible harm, and not even notice that something he's doing is objectively bad. If someone points that out to him he'll try to course-correct, but if he doesn't know how to course-correct — or if he gets manipulated again by someone he trusts — then he's essentially a lost cause, which is something I'd love to angle for. Make him believe he's doing the right thing until he's so steeped into doing things so terrible that he doesn't even care anymore. Let him develop an in-world reputation as a guy who will do virtually anything as long as he's paid (what's up, Kowloon). Hell, steer him towards being a full-on sadist. Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life, right?

The thing with canon is that this has always been a possible path for him; it's just never explored because he's kept himself strictly aligned with undeniably good people... but that's not the case here anymore, is it? Test the limits of how far he'll go, because if done right, there won't be any.

And, a little more specifically:

— Working his way up the Zenite ranks. I'd love for him to become someone who can be relied on, and pick up some notoriety along the way — positively where Zenith/Highstorm is concerned in all likelihood, negatively for Meridian/Springstar. Let him develop a reputation as a Zenite, capital Z and everything. But! At the same time! Amos is for the most part rather amicably chill, so I'd love to play with that contrast of what you see (one of the more harder core guys) vs. what you get (he might come across as entirely reasonable because he's rarely outwardly gung-ho about stuff).

— Helping Zenites out! He really doesn't have anything to do with Meris, but Zenites? He wants them to feel comfortable, happy, like they belong. Someone to boost morale, to tutor or educate, to help people get settled in... He's an Exalt, that's still generally his role.

— Meridian Must Die. Not the people, but the force itself. (And then the people if they get in the way of that but that's not his problem.) Since being forced to experience Meridian himself and everything that brought up in him, he... didn't like it... So he wants to get rid of it. So he doesn't have to feel it again. That's definitely a goal of his now, however realistic it may be,

— Adelfoúla. Amos is still Amos, which means above all else he cares about children. He's got Aetós pegged as a child abuser so he wants to 1. kill them and 2. save Adelfoúla. I do not know the deeper Adelfoúla lore obviously but for what it's worth, I do love it when someone is perfectly happy where they are and doesn't need to be saved at all, and the supposedly righteous party having to contend with that...!

— Shard experimentation. While this isn't something Amos is actively interested in, it is something he's unfazed by — and something he'll be a willing participant in if he sees a benefit to it (will it save a child [Adelfoúla-style or otherwise], will it massively help Zenith kind of deal). He's already recruited Shard-Bearers for experimentation once, even though back then it was technically unknowingly. Now that he knows? If the reward is worth it to him then yeah, he'll do it. He can be involved — but less in a putting a stop to it way, more in a further enabling it direction.

— Farmos. As he's further steeped in Zenith and starting to actively think about an ideal new world, it turns out that he just really wants somewhere clean, peaceful, and safe, with abundant resources for all who live there (total shocker for someone who's dealt with resource scarcity all his life, I know). Think like a small town kind of feel, and he's someone who would like to contribute to its success... say, by farming! This could potentially be Alenroux involvement in which Amos is a committed Zenite who literally only goes over there to help with crops and stuff, no political games. Man just wants to learn how to do this so he can carry those skills over to the new world.

— Clearing out the Beyond. Just from Meridian stuff; he doesn't really care what's going on out there, as long as all the Meri gunk is out. (He can absolutely fail at this; this is just a new goal of his that's turned up.)

Hayame | JINBA

[personal profile] warmare 2022-10-01 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name(s): Hayame
Series: JINBA
Wiki Link: None, please feel free to check the "Background" section of her application here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
If the goal is important enough to her, there really isn't any line Hayame wouldn't cross to accomplish it. In her canon, this has included very extreme measures such as actively participating in the enslavement of her own race, being willing to capture women and children, taking orders without question from human masters, killing people who get in her way... and even being willing to kill herself. Not many goals will reach this level of dedication, but she is capable of it. The only thing that seemed to potentially deter/disgust her was non-consensual sexual acts, such as the forced breeding and "use" of jinba by humans that she grew up with in the stables. Now that she is trying to be a better person Hayame might hesitate over some things, like hurting children, but if the goal was something important enough, like going home or saving one of the few people she actually cared about...

What is something they treasure?
Hayame is not in possession of any physical items that she treasures. The only thing that would really qualify are her arrows fletched with sea eagle that were made by her brother. A lack of things to treasure is part of her problem, to be honest, because even just mentally or emotionally... she has very few warm or kind memories to draw on, and very few bonds.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
Her physical strength and battle prowess. (Whether that's the healthiest way to think about yourself is another matter, thanks slavery upbringing.)

What is this character's best memory?
There is... one single day that Hayame spent in the village of free jinba where she was kept (loosely, by that point in time) as a POW, just before everything came crashing down on her. A day after she'd witnessed Matsukaze help someone through compassion and not force and decided to try and be kinder. She took the young students of her archery class out to practice target shooting, she shared a meal with the villagers, she helped a pregnant Koume start a new garden patch, she accompanied Matsukaze out to search for herbs and was teased mercilessly for a split second of affectionate expression by Kohibari upon their return... And for just one day, she almost understood what it might have been like, to live free and be happy. ... But even that memory is sour now, knowing that the next day her master sent word that he had arrived and had the village surrounded.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
Yubari: her (half) brother, a fellow Armed jinba of the Miyatsuta Breeding Stable. Though she treated him coldly and callously when he attempted to act in a brotherly manner towards her in public, Yubari is the only person in her master's breeding stable that she felt she could rely on or trust, and she did value him even if she felt that she could not show weakness before others and acknowledge their bond. She now feels extreme guilt for not being a better elder sister to him.
Matsukaze: her could-be lover/being-a-better-person mentor, the man she was sent to hunt who then tried to teach her she didn't have to live that way. Though a part of her still doubted, unable to believe so soon or so easily in a better, kinder world that Matsukaze offered her as a member of the free village... Hayame wanted to believe. She wanted to reach out. And if she was to know a man, she wished it had been him. She now feels extreme guilt for surviving (whether through chance or being "chosen") the potential death of their world, when she knows for a fact that he would be the far better person to fight for it... that he deserved to live more than she did.
CR-wise: among the shard-bearers, she feels most positively towards Liem Talbott (whose words after seeing her past in the Horos arrival sequence guided her towards the light and who she has sort of non-conned into becoming a mortal arbiter), Set (who gave her his divine blessing when she demanded the god of war's favor in her grudge against a demon, and who declared her his friend), Akua (who shares certain understandings about the difficulty of redemption, and who also offered her friendship), Claude (who has been accepting of her as a fellow "outsider", who confessed to love her), and Gray (who she has half taken under her wing). She'd also feel positively towards Kaeya (who saw into her past with her brother) and Amos (who she shares a certain background with), but she can't because they're tHE ENEMY.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
Hayame is very stubborn, and she was raised with a very rigid sense of ethics and mortals that likely seem very medieval and antiquated to many others. Her sense of honor is extremely strict and extreme. When people push her, she tends to grow even more obstinate out of spite. But this stiffness means that when she does bend... she tends to break. Despite how fiercely she defends her beliefs, it's more out of fear and conditioning than anything else, and if she were offered something concrete and believable (to her) about being able to save her world, or specific people that she cared about... She might snap.

What do they desire above all else?
Her world. Hayame doesn't care about her own personal survival. She was a day away from committing lovers suicide to save a village when she came into Horos, and despite how afraid she actually is to die, she did attempt to commit suicide in-game as well, despairing over being the only member of her kind in a world that didn't make any sense and thinking that her world might be gone. She doesn't care about riches or power, unless they can help her accomplish her goals. What she wants is to return to a place where things made sense and there's no strange magics, to a "home" where people look like her and understand her and... maybe even care about her. Even if her world is full of awful things, even if she'll still have to die the very next day... She wants to go back.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
Hayame's biggest fears are being sold as a broodmare/"companion" and losing her arms, both of which are highly specific to the culture she grew up in. From a young age she became aware that her dam was forced to breed each season with whatever stallion the stable master selected, and was taught to find the broken woman disgusting and weak by her human handlers. The idea of having her life reduced to crude female use is terrifying and disgusting to her, and she spent every bit of energy she had making herself less of a "woman" and more of a "warrior" to try and prevent it. Likewise, humans would flense the arms from centaurs and make them "Armless" to control them, and Hayame was raised to view that as the ultimate punishment and torture for her kind-- being made into a creature that cannot even feed itself, bathe, or survive without the "kindness" of a master. It boils down to a fear of being weak/powerless and a fear of being considered worthless, but they take very specific cultural forms.

What is this character's worst memory?
From canon, it would be the day she received word from her master that he had surrounded the village of free jinba, when Hayame realized that she was the cause of everything bad that was about to happen and the threat that had arrived on their doorstep, all because she hadn't been able to fully trust or believe in the chance of a better world and future for herself. (Ref/Inspo: 01, 02) From AT, it could be just be a jumble of the many violent fights that she had (most notably when she lost her left eye to a demon) and the feelings of alienation/being misunderstood that dogged her days there.

Is there anyone they feel highly negative feelings towards?
➳ Herself: Hayame's default feelings about people are kind of negative, and she came to hate many people in her time in AT, but to be honest, the person she feels more negatively about is herself. She hates that she is the one who somehow survived her world's troubles, she feels immense guilt for her role in canon as an overseer of her own kind, a poor sister, and the harbinger of that village's doom, she curses any weakness that she has... and then curses herself more any time she lets it show.
CR-wise: among the shard-bearers, she feels most negatively towards Sebastian (the demon who took her left eye and refused to die even after she ripped out his throat, who is ~loved despite his nature while she considers herself to be scorned for her own), Gen (who teenage-punkly made jokes about her wanting to fuck him, abandoned her mid-lunch date, and gave a very crappy apology for it), Voryn (who triggers her slavery backstory resentment and set her up to look like a thin-skinned bully in front of the whole faction), Silco (who she considers to be a scheming, slippery rat), and John Gaius (who she considers a traitor to Meridian and to be tempting ruin with his sick experiments).

THE MATERIAL

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
What Hayame says that she likes/wants is practical things, such as arrows, bow wax, bowstrings, hardy clothing, tools, etc.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
Arrows made by her brother, Yubari
Good quality eyepatch
Blade, short-mid length
➳ Food from her world (persimmons, mountain vegetables, pheasant, etc.)
➳ Centaur-appropriate home furnishings/utilities

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
➳ Mane/Tail hair from Matsukaze
➳ A reminder of her young archery students, such as a handmade doll, bark drawings, or a simple toy
The Order of Numbers, a holy book of Abadar that Hayame confiscated from Liem in Horos
Something... "girly"... like a nice hair comb
➳ A magic item that can shapeshift her human-y (idk for espionage/a mission?! I just wanna do The Last Unicorn okay?)

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
I just want to make her better!!! It's... look, it's a challenge, but I still hold on to the small hope that she'll be able to not fall into despair/self-hate/suicidal tendencies despite how out of her depth and alone she feels away from her world. If she could find a way to forgive herself, to bond with others, find a new reason to live... That would be swell. 🙃 I think the best way to go about this is trying to get her into more situations where she has to work with others, and hopefully she'll one day... make a friend? More importantly, I think she really needs to to find people she can respect, and also people she feels genuinely understand her thinking/culture/where she's coming from, in order for her to start opening up, so... OOCly I'd like to see her paired up with other characters in some way, or nudged towards situations that would help or force her to open up about herself.
UPDATE: getting her to like her fellow Meridian as a whole group doesn't seem to be actually working, unfortunately, so I guess I'd also be open to a route where she becomes the new Meridian!Manon some sort of Meridian traitor cleanser/rules enforcer/something like that.
UPDATE: she finally has (3) whole {problematic, frustrating} friends and (1) whole Person Who Claims to Love Her, so she is doing slightly better mentally/socially, but I'd still like to try and work to find her a place she considers her own/a duty that gives her purpose beyond "must fight Zenites for Oracles"

Character Name(s): Sebastian Michaelis, true name is Malphas
Series: Black Butler
Wiki Link: Here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
Once Sebastian gets a concrete goal in mind, his dedication to it is near obsessive. With his contract to Ciel, for example, he will stop at nothing to fulfill it and works diligently to always push forward in accomplishing his goals. It's just always about catching his attention first. If Sebastian has decided to do something, it will be done, whether it's as easy as a wave of his hand or it takes several centuries to accomplish. There’s no line he wouldn’t cross to see his goals fulfilled, though he’s the sort of person that won’t go with an extreme option because it’s the easiest. He’s very aware of how extreme options can make things more difficult down the line, so he doesn’t prefer them. But if necessary? He has no qualms with doing morally reprehensible things. They’re not morals that apply to him, after all.

What is something they treasure?
Not in himself, but Sebastian treasures the quality of what I’ll call “noble tragedy”. This is when a person is faced with an impossible circumstance where their choices are particularly cruel, but they meet it with dignity. It doesn’t mean that they make the better choice, however. It’s better if they make one that makes them into a worse person. He treasures this because it makes a soul his favorite flavor over time.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
His cunning, intelligence, and dedication to his principles. Once Sebastian gives his word, he won’t go back on it. But he may also only follow his word to the exact letter and will gladly step around it when it becomes troublesome.

What is this character's best memory?
Since Sebastian is old as balls but his canon only covers a few years of it, I have a headcanon answer that’s vague and a canon timeline answer, so.

In the headcanon realm, Sebastian has had countless contracts for thousands of years before meeting Ciel. As such, some of these contracts would have been more fun to him than others! As a mentioned off-hand example, Sebastian is responsible for causing the Black Plague (oops), so seeing that plan come together by chance is absolutely something he would take great pleasure in. Also more generally, any time a contract is completed, and he gets to eat a soul is wonderful.

In the canon timeline of events, it would be when he was summoned. He got to do a ton of murder, see Ciel despair, and get to negotiate a contract with a particularly clever person. It’s a good day for a demon! This has HUGE spoilers about the central twist of the manga and has quite a lot of gore, but you can read that chapter here.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
Essentially no, but the strongest would definitely be Ciel Phantomhive, his former contractor.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
In terms of his personal, demonic principles, very little, but these are also so arbitrary that they may as well not count… As a better example, if Sebastian is in a contract with someone, his dedication to it is a better analogue for “principles” in terms of the root of this question. Sebastian is extremely dedicated to his contracts and there’s little that could pull him from them… But not nothing. If someone can offer him a better deal than whatever situation he finds himself in, then he’d compromise easily.

What do they desire above all else?
Entertainment. Or slightly more accurately, not being bored. Sebastian is an ancient and very powerful demon, and as such, truly desires very little. He has no material wants or needs, but instead enjoys playing at being a butler to a young boy solely because he finds it interesting. He's a demon that enjoys talking to people and learning about them just as much as he would enjoy betraying and killing them. By his view, they're nearly equivalent solely because they provide an enjoyable activity for him to partake in. It's why he offers contracts to humans, since there's little he finds more personally enriching.

Also a good meal, naturally, but that solidly falls under this broader umbrella.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
Sebastian only feels fear when he’s in a contract, and this is because humans are terribly, terribly fragile and extremely prone to dying. Unfortunate, since they’re his dinner! When he’s not in a contract, he’s quite fearless, since even the prospect of dying is something he doesn’t mind, really.

In terms of insecurities, though… Sebastian wants to be perceived as someone who is cool and to be praised, so he’s a very insecure and petty baby when his skill or competence is questioned. He’s also very vain and takes it super personally when he’s not aesthetically pleasing, regardless of his current form. Also he hates being called old? What a fucking weirdo.

What is this character's worst memory?
Arriving in Horos and realizing that his contract with Ciel had been ended and therefore that Ciel’s soul had slipped out of his grasp. He had been cultivating Ciel’s soul not unlike a farmer raising a prize pig for slaughter, so it was a great amount of effort that was wasted without him ever getting a taste of his work.

Is there anyone they highly negative feelings towards?
THE MATERIAL

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
He’d genuinely rather be praised than receive a gift but will accept any graciously. He may just also give them to someone else. If his Faction essentially pats him on the head and tells him he did a good job, that’s all he wants.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
That said,
  • Kittens/Cats
  • Easy to conceal weaponry
  • Poisons
  • Souls for snackies
What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
See this is where I can shine because I have SO many things to bully Sebastian with?

Character Name(s): Father Liem Talbott, Lord of Betony | Enzo (occasional alias)
Series: Original Character (Pathfinder RPG | War for the Crown Book 3)
Wiki Link: Nope, but his info page is here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
Liem is unquestionably willing to kill in order to make himself useful, and he is willing to put his own life at risk as well. He is also willing to subvert Abadar's values for the greater good of lawful society overall, which he has done by personally "taking care of" people he deems a threat to the growth of order and prosperity. When given the choice between loyalty to his faith and loyalty to his loved ones, however, Liem has proven unwilling to sacrifice his friends, fighting and killing another Abadaran inquisitor alongside them rather than standing aside or aiding his fellow adherent against them.

What is something they treasure?
He treasures any chance he gets to actively nurture a community instead of delving into its criminal elements to combat active threats. He loves travelling, seeing new places, and visiting markets to look for deals. He also treasures his copy of The Order of Numbers, Abadar's holy book, which has accompanied him on his journeys for many years.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
He is hardworking, responsible, diligent, and has an eye for detail. Most of these traits are ones he learned under the care of Abadar's priesthood; he attributes most of his success and strength of character to them.

What is this character's best memory?
He still cherishes the times he spent cooking with his friend Bastiano, many years ago before he stopped being able to see him. Bastiano taught Liem many of the recipes he knows; he still often thinks of him when he cooks.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
His older sister, who raised him until he was eight. Talia, a past lover he was advised to break things off with, to avoid tarnishing her career as a knight. Bastiano, a good friend who grew distant after finding a wife. His "colleagues" from before he was brought to Horos/Kenos: Rhain, Drifa, and Juliana.

In terms of in-game CR, Liem also considers Set and Hayame to be good friends, whom he wants to support and be there for in their own struggles.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
Just give him a crumb of sweetness and genuine care. He's willing to do all kinds of things at the behest of someone who professes an intention to take care of him, especially if they make their request at an intimate moment. In addition, Liem can be persuaded to commit any number of atrocities in the service to the greater good, as long as the cause aligns with the one he's been raised on: to bring the light of lawful civilization to the wild places of the world.

What do they desire above all else?
Liem's chief desire in life is to have a positive and worthwhile impact on the world around him, which he strives to do through his service to Abadar. Notably, his background being raised by the church means that he values order above kindness, so his efforts to affect positive change in the world manifest most often in supporting the spread of law and order rather than in acts of goodwill.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
Liem has an enduring dread regarding the transient nature of all good things in his life, especially his relationships with other people. Partially this is due to his relative longevity compared to human loved ones; partially it's due to circumstances leading those people to exit his life at the height of his attachment to them. He's come to see himself as not just dispensable, but due to his connection with undeath, intrinsically unworthy of love at the deepest level, which reflects in his unwillingness to pursue emotional intimacy with others.

What is this character's worst memory?
Some thirty or so years ago, Liem returned to Oppara after a journey and visited a companion he'd been growing closer with, only to discover that he'd been killed and raised as vampire spawn. Liem's father used the man, Conte, as leverage in an attempt to manipulate his wayward son until Liem succeeded in slaying the unfortunate spawn. He still feels guilt over Conte being targeted due to his connection with him.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
His father, Iago. One of the few upsides of the universe being mostly destroyed is that at least his fucking dad is dead for good now.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
• He cherishes any gift that clearly involved thought and care, particularly from someone close to him.
• He likes beautiful things, like poetry, clothing, and jewellery.
• Acts of service are also big for him, so like, help with a project he's been working on, or if you enchanted his house so the windows were always clean or the gutters never clogged. Stuff like that.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
His copy of The Order of Numbers.
His crossbow, Dignity's Barb (a relic that gains magic power from "triumphs" he achieves while using it).
His inquisitor's robes, which appear much like priest's robes, but lightly armoured and built for mobility as well as protection.
A copy of the Manual of City-Building.
A false face. For no reason in particular. 🙂
• In general, magical equipment or items that could come in handy when he's out and about.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
Hayame's lost eye, in its fancy bottle 🙃
A fancy couch from his mansion in Taldor
• The taxidermied remains of an extremely large manticore (killed by him and his colleagues)
• The gilded black marble bust of one of Liem's Taldan neighbours in her younger years, which he received as a gift from her
The super explicit erotic novels he found in the lair of a pairaka (a div embodying the corruption of unbridled lust)

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
• I am highly interested in a corruption arc where Liem gets involved in increasingly shady stuff at his faction leader's behest. Ideally this would be a descent into corruption he's making willingly, so he would also need to be convinced that his faction's cause is the right one and that certain actions are necessary to achieve it, making this more of a long-term goal.
• Liem's current project is making sure Meridian's occupation of Alenroux is successful; specifically, he wants to make sure it benefits the locals so that they will be well-disposed toward this change. To this end he'll be assisting efforts to make Alenroux full-time habitable, as well as looking into relations with the workers there to see if they have other concerns that Meridian needs to get in front of.
• He also wants to investigate more about the shards the Church of Helios gives out, like who's behind that and what the church's connection is to Aetos, if that's where they're getting the shards.

Character Name(s): Miya Atsumu
Series: Haikyuu!!
Wiki Link: Here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
Atsumu is constantly pushing himself and his own physical limits to achieve his dreams. He's an extremely driven young man who meets new challenges with zeal.

The fortunate thing for him is that all of his goals and desires thus far have been achievable through extremely legal means where no one gets seriously hurt. Since he's an athlete with a strong need to compete, the worst that happens is he upsets a rival team by beating them, or a teammate by being unnecessarily harsh.

With a much loftier goal that requires him finally actually having to cross lines, there's a lot more that Atsumu would balk at. Getting into a physical fight with someone is probably a reasonable ask, but wanting him to kill someone or put his own life on the line is... more challenging. It's not to say that he wouldn't eventually be able to cross lines like this given the right motivation and pressure, but he certainly wouldn't be willing to on his own if he had any inkling there were other options, or if he didn't properly understand the gravity of a given situation.

He's never had to come into direct conflict with what his uncrossable lines would be, however, and where he'd want to draw his lines are likely a lot more moral than where his final lines would actually end up lying.

What is something they treasure?
Let me just take a deep, pained breath before I answer this...

Him....self....

STOP! DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT! LET ME EXPLAIN!!

Atsumu has put a lot of time and care into training his body, not just through intensive exercise routines, but careful daily practice to get better and better at the skills that matter to him. He's worked his body and his skill hard enough and consistently enough to make himself one of the high school athletes to beat, and he takes a lot of pride in that fact. Yeah, alright, he also has an ego the size of the fucking moon, but the treasuring himself is less about that, and more about the care he's put into himself in order to make himself truly great at the sport he loves.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
His willingness to approach things at different angles that others might not think of. The short version of this would be to say his creativity, but that's not really how he would see it. He's not particularly artsy or crafty, but when it comes to a problem that he's actually interested in, Atsumu will turn it over in his head and look at it from weird angles to figure out a better approach to tackling it. He'll watch what other people do things, and yoink their ideas to play around with and improve them and make them work best for him.

It's not something he thinks about super consciously, but Atsumu loves trying new things, and takes a lot of pride in the way he figures out puzzles he's presented with.

What is this character's best memory?
The moment he realized what volleyball position he wanted to play as a child. He and his brother attended a volleyball camp in elementary school where they were just two kiddos messing around at sports and having fun, but he overheard one of the trainers say something that really stuck with him. "It's okay, you don't gotta be scared. I'll letcha hit it nice and easy."

That "I'll letcha hit it" echoed in his mind until something clicked into place for him, and started him on a trajectory that took him to where he is today. It's not a particular exciting memory, or even a sweet one, but it had a bigger impact on him than almost anything else in his life.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
I'll list three.

1. Kita Shinsuke: The captain of his high school team his second year. Kita is a serious young man with an absolutely astonishing work ethic. He's also got a way of telling it like it is to people in a way that cuts to the quick. He intimidates the shit out of Atsumu, but the respect and admiration he has for him surpasses that in leaps and bounds.
2. Hinata Shoyo: The truth is that Atsumu does not know Hinata that well. The two of them have only played one game against each other, but Hinata made a huge impact on Atsumu during that game. He's got the kind of hunger and determination that makes a guy like Atsumu take note, because it's something he can deeply relate to and appreciate. People that can match him and impress him through one short meeting are people that Atsumu warms up to quickly.
3. Miya Osamu: His twin, and in a lot of ways his biggest rival. Since they were kids Atsumu and Osamu have both been nearly inseparable while simultaneously being at each other's throats. Both twins have hyper competitive personalities, though Osamu at least seems to be able to reel his back, and that's driven both of them forward in life. Atsumu in particular became well known for trying to one up his brother. And the two fight like crazy, constantly getting under each other's skin and finding new wants to agitate each other regularly.

At the end of the day though, they're still brothers, and they've been there to prop each other up and keep going despite the headaches they cause for each other.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
Not much in canon, but in Kenos...

With so much having collapsed around him, and all of his support systems gone, it wouldn't take much. He wants what he had back, and he'd be willing to compromise a lot of his own beliefs for it. Some he would struggle with more than others, but most of his core beliefs aren't really the same thing as his morals, and a lot of what his fundamental way of thinking can be twisted around a new moral code if push comes to shove for him.

What do they desire above all else?
His old life back.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
That he's not good enough. While he's gotten heaps of praise for his talents during his teen years, he only got there through a whole mountain of hard work and effort. There probably is some innate abilities that he was able to tap into during all of this, and fortunately he, a very tall boy, picked a path where height is a huge advantage, but most of his achievements were made through effort.

Atsumu is competitive as hell, and it bothers him when he's worse than someone else. Despite all he does and all his effort, he worries about not being good enough, or there being someone better than him. His big ego and need to be top dog belies an insecurity that he isn't.

What is this character's worst memory?
His brother finally coming clean about the fact that he wouldn't be continuing to play volleyball after high school, and Atsumu being forced to face the fact that he was about to have to walk the road ahead completely alone.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
Certain world destroying people in certain other worlds. We don't gotta mention names though.

THE MATERIAL

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
All kinds. Food mostly, but useless but neat trinkets are nice too, anything related to his actual hobby, and games.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
I'm updating this, but... still volleyball related things... after the tragic burning goat event.

Also lightweight weaponry that can be thrown, and lightweight armor that he can use to move in. Any equipment that could be helpful to him long term.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
Items that are for sure powerful and useful for whatever missions or assignments he's handed, but ones that are questionable in some way or another. Items that come with a catch to use in some regard.

For example, things that ask him to either give up a part of himself, or things that will do some small degree of harm to the person he uses them on, forcing Atsumu to make a choice about whether he wants to or not.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?

Atsumu is (currently) probably the biggest normie in the game, and I'm hoping to absolutely wreck that. There was some reluctance on his part, but he already started to learn how to use weapons, and magic (with more enthusiasm), and I'm interested in having him continue down this particular path on his own to make himself more useful to his team.

And I do hope that by actively working to make himself useful, he actually gets used. I want a slow spiral corruption arc for a character who starts off normal, and honestly not that committed to the ideals of the group he's part of, and ends up falling deeper and deeper into the Zenith mindset/clutches in whatever way necessary to make that happen.

Character Name(s): Silco
Series: Arcane
Wiki Link: Here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross? We know exactly what this would be! Silco would lie, cheat, steal, betray, murder -- He would do almost anything to achieve a goal that he saw as important or vital. You all know what the one restriction is. The only line Silco won't cross is the one we get in Arcane. He won't give up his daughter -- BUT, Silco is not from this point, so if you ask him, he will say that he would give up anything for his goals, whether it is the destruction of the universe, or his precious Zaun. Silco will literally do nearly anything to get to what he wants.

What is something they treasure? Silco has so much personality, and yet a lot of this is going to revolve around the same things and people. Of course, Silco treasures Zaun, and his daughter.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities? Silco considers his best qualities to be his silver tongue, his wit, smarts, and his willingness to do anything to get what he wants. He sees them as the tools of survival, what made him strong, and that means that is what makes others strong.

What is this character's best memory? Jesus uhhh... Probably the day he stabbed Vander in the back and took over Zaun.....................sorry

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
Canon
  • Jinx is perfect child who can do no wrong and is kind of the perfect vision of what a Zaunite should be. Silco actually loves his daughter it's embarrassing, and probably would scorch the earth for her if she asked??? Would give up his dreams of Zaun and would try to find another way to liberate it, if say someone asked him to turn her in. Also. EXTREMELY CODEPENDENT PARENTING RELATIONSHIP. 😬

  • Sevika he is mostly positive toward, since she's his right hand, lieutenant, and his muscle. He does not entirely trust her, but for Silco, even relying on someone slightly would be the kind of person who would be up there in terms of positive feelings.

AT/Kenos
  • Kaeya - God that's complicated. I don't think Silco even really has put together what kind of a relationship (it's fatherly we won't lie) he has with Kaeya, but he wants to help make him stronger and into a monster regardless. It's worse with Jinx here, because Silco has to do this dance between trying to nudge Kaeya along, not setting off his daughter, and then somehow figuring out what it is. Obviously this isn't going well. He still has a strong, positive opinion of Kaeya, and probably would try to help him, although he keeps saying that it's because he's mentoring him and for no other reason. smh at this stupid old man

  • Sebastian - Miiiiiiiiiiight change eventually depending on how. Soul eating goes. But they're catty bitches and also Sebastian is his contracted demon rn. So. Good! At the moment. Sebastian is proving himself invaluable at the moment, so that's... great.

  • Amos - Weird because Silco definitely gets Similar To His Mortal Enemy vibes, but Amos has proven himself adept in a pinch, and so he's not burning that bridge. Yes, that's a positive thing.

  • Lottie - Catty mean girl friend. He's definitely nudging Lottie along in the path to becoming more monstrous. :)

  • Misa - ALSO A MEAN GIRL but he thinks Misa is a valuable resource to Zenith. He thinks Light's a tool though.

  • Set - DESPITE THE FACT THAT SET IS MERIDIAN, he's chaotic enough that Silco slots him into a "jinx-lite" role, and he's amenable enough to conversing that Silco thinks Set's pretty good for manipulating. He wants to see him corrupted. Tee hee.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles? I mean. What little principles he has? Having Zaun or Jinx back would be the only things that could convince him to do other than what his current path is. Right now, he wants to raze and burn a world that dares to exist without the only two things that Silco cares about. It's really crappy to say, but like, he started a massive drug trade in his city and absolutely made the people suffer just for the Chance at freedom. It's not being dramatic to say that Silco will compromise nearly every principle if the stakes and payoff are grand and good enough.

What do they desire above all else? A free Zaun.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities? That his daughter will leave him. That everything that he's done will be for naught and that he won't have a free Zaun. Also a little bit of drowning, and that's why he goes and drowns himself on the reg just to feel something

What is this character's worst memory? That really fun time he was betrayed and drowned in a poisoned river with an injured eye.

Is there anyone they highly negative feelings towards?
  • Vander - Hee Hee Hoo Hoo The drowner in the above incident. Silco hates him so much he literally orchestrated an entire downfall of Vander, kidnapped him, and was probably going to torture him before his kids came to save him.

  • Vi - Speaking of Kids! Silco has nothing but loathing for Jinx's older sister, and sees her as someone who could take everything away from him. He wants her gone and eradicated, and she's like a thorn in his side.

  • Caitlyn - Boy. Caitlyn to Silco has become the very picture of the enforcers for him. Mostly through AT since they'd just met in canon when he's from, but she treats him like he's vile, she's sanctimonious (in his opinion) and only now caring about his people when they've been suffering since he's been old enough to remember. Silco hates her about as much as he hates Vander, and it makes it worse that she seems to always be one step ahead.

  • Voryn Dagoth - "Hey look at me, bitch" meme goes here.

  • Hayame - She threatened to break his fingers how dare she!!!!

THE MATERIAL

What kinds of gifts does your character like? Power. 😇 Beyond that, Silco prides himself on his self-reliance. Beyond cigars, or fine liquors (which he can buy himself) he's not really interested in gifts, as they come with the implication that he owes someone something. Perhaps leads and connections are always appropriate gifts, but Silco is really looking to move forward in kowloon so anything to help him in that direction is aces.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward? Silco doesn't like being GIVEN things. Because then he OWES people things.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them? I haven't kept this up to date because i gift my own characters but
- Neon eye light to put up at Draumah👁l
- His stupid eye gun
- Clothes from home
- His desk...
- trinkets his daughter made
- stupid league merch that's funny idek
- a new make up compact

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
  • Obviously, establishing a base of power in Kowloon through the use of Shimmer -- Silco is gunning for one of those chembaron positions in the governing counsel. Draumah👁l - achieved

  • Experience a modicum of character growth. MAYBE he should actually deal with his shit. We will see on this one, but...

  • Obviously, he wants the sweet taste of revenge. We're working on that one. lmao lmao

  • Now that Silco has Draumah👁l, he will want to use the resources to funnel towards Zenith's advantage. He's looking to make you monsters, Yima. Obviously, this may come with time, since there is the shimmer project, but you know...

  • My plan for Silco DOES involve going all the way Zenith, he's already too UNHEALTHILY INTO THE GOAL, and I'd ideally like for him to use his resources and new tools to aim that way over time.

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

The answer to this might simply be a matter of escalation. Though Gen would definitely balk at the prospect of, say, suddenly being told to torture an innocent person or commit a genocide to accomplish his goals, he's already (attempted to) beat an innocent woman to death with his bare hands, thinking it would protect his loved ones. He also already has blood on his hands, and is somewhat accustomed to being treated like an attack dog whose duty is to take out threats. As a result, he would definitely be capable of gruesomely murdering one innocent person to fulfill his desires (even if it traumatized him somewhat), then one can easily become two, and so on and so forth. As long as the escalation was slow enough and he genuinely believed it would assist towards his goals, there are probably no limits to the amount of violence he could dish out, whether it be towards enemies, innocents, or even other people he loves. He's also already accustomed to enduring emotional scarring for his desires, and also doesn't seem to value his own safety very much, so he wouldn't balk at ruining himself for his goals, either.

What is something they treasure?

The people important to him. Gen has always been a people-person at heart, and is especially dedicated to the few people he opens up to and decides to protect. Though his definition of 'protecting people' has grown a bit warped since his younger days, he still devotes himself ferociously to the people he values and will fight desperately to maintain some connection to them.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?

Gen … doesn’t really believe himself to have any positive qualities. In general, he rather loathes what he is in present day, and despite his general attitude feigning confidence and arrogance, he considers himself something pretty shameful and disgusting. If forced at gunpoint to choose something, he’d say he’s tenacious, but he doesn’t really think of himself as that strong or resilient compared to the super-powered majority of shard-bearers.

However, he did consider himself a protective and loyal person when he was much younger, and deep down inside, wishes to “reclaim” those traits of his that he believes have been lost. So those qualities of his — loyalty and the vicious desire to fight for his precious people (which he does still have, even if they’ve been warped) — might be what he actually considers his best ones, even if he doesn’t believe he has them at the moment.

What is this character's best memory?

Memories of playing with Kurose Reiji (more on him below) in his early childhood, as they’re the only times he feels he was truly happy. Playing videogames together, running around outside, just getting to hang out together without having to think about things.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?

Canon:
(takes a deep breath)

Kurose Reiji is a very deeply damaged young man who was basically raised by his mother to exist solely for her, to ensure he will never leave her. Crushed by the expectations and demands placed upon him by her, he's become a dangerously submissive young man conditioned to think mostly about how to please whoever he's talking to at the moment without actually caring deeply about them at all. ( TW: suicide mentions going forth. ) Deeply depressed about the bleak future that awaits him, he's become completely infatuated by the thought of committing a lover's suicide with a woman named Aoe Nagi, and has even asked Gen to kill the both of them.

As Gen’s father was the employer to both of Reiji’s parents and they were the same age, Gen and Reiji were fast childhood friends from the beginning. From a very young age, Gen took on the duty of protecting Reiji from bullies in typical tsundere fashion, generally being quite protective, attentive and supportive of Reiji. This relationship mostly fell apart in their middle school years, following Gen's murder of Reiji's father. Reiji retains no memories of that incident, having been hit in the head with an ashtray, and when Gen slowly (and in Reiji's eyes, for no reason) became more violent and aggressive, Reiji started avoiding him and drifting away from him. Gen, not knowing how else to retain their relationship, slowly pivoted to becoming a controlling bully in a last-ditch attempt to maintain any pretense of friendship with Reiji. Though Gen is very aware that his and Reiji's relatioship is severely damaged because of his own actions, he still considers Reiji his closest friend and wants nothing more than for Reiji to simply be by his side, even if they both have to be miserable in the process.

Deep down inside, Gen loves Reiji more than anyone else in his life. As he grew up in a restrictive environment (broken family, locked into a future path that he has no desire for, harboring some questions of his sexuality and/or gender but remaining severely closeted due to being in a conservative environment), Gen had an unhappy childhood based in (hidden) loneliness and self-loathing, with his only true happiness being the time he could spend with Reiji. His love for Reiji started when he was very young, and seems to be a combination of both romantic and platonic love; though severe trauma has skewed his feelings in a more violent and possessive direction, at his core, Gen wants nothing more than to be able to stay by Reiji’s side as his friend.

In Kenos, Yima actually gave Reiji’s shard to Gen, who then entrusted it to Amos Burton during the time he was unharmonized and thus unable to properly keep it safe. He hasn’t retrieved it since, instead choosing to trust Amos with it. He’s reluctant to ever touch the shard much himself, but would also go absolutely ballistic if anything were to happen to it; its safety is of utmost importance to him, regardless of if he actually gets to have it or not, and he would rather die himself than any harm befall that shard.

In-game CR:
In terms of characters he's met since being isekaied, Gen does have notable fondness for a select few.

- He considers Amos his closest friend, having been brought to Horos at the same time and shared a legacy with him. As a fellow "normal human" (relatively speaking), he feels a sort of kinship for Amos, especially since he knows that Amos is a fundamentally broken person, like him, and who'll be on Amos' side if he isn't? Though he wouldn't admit as much, he feels deeply protective towards Amos and trusts him more than just about anyone else in Kenos.

- In a strange way, Eustace and Gray are the closest thing that Gen has to a found family after their shared hardships, as he considers them like an older brother and a younger sister respectively. Gray, in particular, he feels a close bond to, given their shared origins as isolated country-mouse types. His feeling towards them are ... complicated, as they are both Meridian, and what he'd consider "fundamentally pretty good people" i.e. the types that he's not really meant to mingle with. But regardless of those complications, he feels a certain level of comfort around them and wishes for their safety in some vague way.

- Set is ... wow, Set is a fucking weird one, who very barely skirts the line between this category and "special negative CR." But the fact remains that Set has promised Gen unconditional acceptance of him despite all of the ugliness he harbors, and though that offer does run opposite to what Gen desires in his heart of hearts, it remains an alluring one nonetheless. The bottom line is that Gen considers Set something like a final bastion to seek safety in when all else fails -- though whether that "safety" entails the fulfilled promise of a better next life, or simple peace in death, is something he's still unsure of.

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
It depends largely on who's relying on her to accomplish those goals. If it's someone important to her, especially someone she trusts to be wiser than her, then she'll be much more willing to step over lines she normally wouldn't (i.e., violence, kidnapping, drugging). If the beneficiaries of her goals are more vague, then she'll be much more hesitant to do things that could harm other people. She has an especially hard time moving toward goals in her own interest, instead tending to move toward them inch by inch when she isn't withdrawing from them completely; she's self-aware in this regard and struggles regularly with self-improvement. She often has a hard time even defining what her goals are, preferring to help others with their goals instead.

The hardest line she wouldn't cross would be tangible harm toward people she considers important to her. This can make things messy for her, especially in a faction game where she can't help making friends with people across factions.

What is something they treasure?
Feeling relied on and/or essential to the people close to her. She pays strong attention to the duties she takes on.

Materially, she treasures the small talking box named Add she always carries under her cloak. Beyond its function as her weapon, she considers it her first and best friend.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
She considers her best qualities to be her functional strengths: how to fight, and how to clean. She trained from a young age to be able to fight any kind of spirit, and she is successful enough at it that she can objectively say that she's good at it. As for cleaning, she just likes how it makes her feel and that it's a helpful service she can do for others.

From a personality standpoint, she has a hard time seeing anything positive worth mentioning. She thinks other people perceive her as quiet, timid, wishy-washy, and unintelligent.

What is this character's best memory?
Gray doesn't really have "best" memories, rarely processing the positive events in her life beyond more compromised feelings of relief (that things weren't worse) or happiness that something good happened for someone else. But her favorite memories are of normal everyday life, especially of her time with the El-Melloi classroom.

Edit: this is sad but now it's of Eustace returning after he dropped lmao

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
- Lord El-Melloi II (a.k.a. Waver Velvet). Her mentor. He rescued her from her miserable fate in her home village and she looks to him as an example of how to move forward in life. She is often critical of him and is deeply aware of his flaws, acknowledging that he's an awful mage and despised by other mages for a reason... but the way he crawls forward and perseveres no matter how much he suffers is a beacon to her. Watching him stubbornly make his way through life despite his shortcomings gives her hope that she might be able to do the same.

- Reines El-Melloi Archisorte. Gray's first and closest friend who isn't a talking box. Her sadistic personality is probably objectively terrible, but she has a soft spot for Gray and they often have tea together. Gray admires her greatly for her scathing confidence and unapologetic opportunism, and takes pride in any comments that Reines is rubbing off on her.

- Add. Her talking box friend, and her only friend for ten years. He has a rowdy pseudo-personality and often teases and jeers at her, but she genuinely considers him an irreplaceable friend and companion.

- CR-wise: A LOT OF PEOPLE... Top of mind are Eustace and Gen, and she puts them under a firm umbrella of "must protect no matter what." She also has strong affection for Kaeya, Amos, Misa, Johnny, and Matsui that trumps faction lines.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
Knowing that it would save someone close to her. To a lesser extent she might make a compromise to save a stranger, but in a "save 1 important person or save 100 strangers" scenario she will choose the important person.

What do they desire above all else?
For the people important to her to be happy.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
She has a deep fear of ghosts. She also has a hard time looking at her face, though this is slightly alleviated by the scars she acquired in Horos. She grapples hard with self-worth, and only recently has eased up on self-flagellating thoughts when she feels she's messed something up.

What is this character's worst memory?
The night her body (especially her face) shifted into King Arthur's at five years old. It was a painful and traumatizing process in which she could feel every bone and muscle in her body migrating to a different configuration over the course of hours. She considers that night the death of her true self, and the beginning of a fate wholly removed from her.

Is there anyone they highly negative feelings towards?
Ashiya Douman. :')

THE MATERIAL

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
Delicious food and sweets. Cleaning supplies. Things that might help her fight (for her friends) better, like armor and other supportive magicky equipment. Good novels (especially detective ones), stationery, painting supplies.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
Things that belong to Waver or Reines... With the coming of the notebooks, Waver's fountain pen(s) would be handy!

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
A wardrobe of cute clothes because she doesn't know how to pick cute clothes for herself.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
WELL this feels tough to answer currently because I would like for her to lean more heavily into the PVP aspect of the game, but I also think her motivation will need to spring from what she sees of the people around her. At the moment she's just kind of waiting for information and to see how Cyrus and Yima act as leaders, so she's in a dormant state with a more personal desire to become stronger. So this is a WIP!

Character Name(s): Dimiti Alexandre Blaiddyd
Series: Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Wiki Link: Here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

Dimitri's goals at this point in his life are - or were - relatively simple. He wanted to be a good king, to protect his people, to make their lives easier, and help them into a place of prosperity. To protect them from the ravages of war and help them recover. All of that is gone now, annihilated by the apparent destruction of his world and everything in it. There are certain things he won't do to accomplish his goals, of course - he tries to keep himself restrained, to avoid killing unnecessarily, or to stoop to low and underhanded tactics.

However, if his psychological health degrades enough he may find himself slipping back into the mindset of the Tempest King - someone entirely consumed wiht a lust for vengeance and destruction of those who have harmed him and the people he loves, obsessed with revenge, and willing to kill anyone or anything who stands in his way. He does not want to return to that time of his life, of course - but he may not end up with a choice.

What is something they treasure?

Friendship. Peace. Rest. Honest labor. But these are things he may not have the luxury of having here. At least not if he wants to get his home back. But mostly he values people over objects and he has lost many of the people he once called friends with the shattering of his world.

This probably isn't good for him, honestly.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?

Dimitri is hesitant to talk himself up at any point, but he values his own strength, if only because it will allow him to protect those he cares about. Otherwise, there's not a lot about himself he actually likes that much. But he keeps those feelings pretty buried, for the most part.

What is this character's best memory?

He remembers when he was a little boy a strange, brown-haired girl came to visit for a period of time. He spent quite a lot of time with her and became fast friends. At the time his father was still living; his stepmother was alive. The world seemed bright for a gentle young boy. He remembers this time with fondness - perhaps the last time in his life he felt truly happy.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?

There are several people in his life who he remembers or thinks on fondly. The Professor, Ingrid, Sylvain, Felix, Dedue... all of his classmates in general. Dedue again, because Dedue was his right hand man and his closest friend after Duscur and someone who he saved and managed to protect.

He has complicated feelings about Edelgard, but it leans toward fondness now.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?

At this point, the prospect of getting his world back and all of its people.

What do they desire above all else?

Peace, at this point. Prosperity for his people. A chance to rest.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?

Dimitri's biggest fear probably revolves around whether or not he actually can protect people and whether he has already failed at that task that he set himself. He also fears, to some extent, falling back into that murderous mindset that led him down a very dark path.

What is this character's worst memory?

The Tragedy of Duscur; the worst night of his life, where friends, his father, and others were slaughtered in a brutal attempt on the life of the royal family. One orchestrated by people hiding in the shadows. He survived - barely - and it still stretches a long shadow over his life.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?

At this point, there's no one he has very strong negative impressions toward. At least, no one who's still alive.

THE MATERIAL

What kinds of gifts does your character like?

Practical gifts that can be used in day-to-day life; tools, clothing, training aides. He also appreciates finely-crafted weapons and other objects that can be used or displayed.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?

A lance or other weapon; armor. A horse. Practical clothing and other useful items.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?

Therapy tbh.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?

I would be interested in seeing him grow more into his leadership role, whether he really wants to or not. He needs to get into that responsibility and dig back into what it means to really be a leader. I want him to try and tug free of the darkness that weighs him down and become something more. To learn to live with his loss, to be that noble paragon he tries to live up to. Alternatively, if things go horribly, he can also spiral into a ball of vengeance and anger, dedicated to killing anyone who stands in the way of what he sees as the only way he has to save his people.

Currently, with the Alenroux situation:

He's going to be using his military unit and his own sense of right/wrong to be working in his particular corner of Alenroux. He's more interested in making sure the people there are safe rather than strictly exerting control... basically hearts/minds campaign. This isn't precisely something that can be threaded out, but it is an effort I'd like him to make, along with trying to get other Meridian commanders to work on not treating everyone with hostility and making sure the occupation is politically palatable for people (and, you know, actually something that's overall good; he cares about the reality and assisting others).

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

Known in Egyptian historical/religious text as an evil god, if not the evil god, it is record that Set has and will do anything in order to obtain what he wants. Strictly looking at his actions, and not the psychology behind him, he was known for killing his own brother, who was beloved by gods and humanity alike as the one who maintained peace and brought prosperity to the land. Set was said to have killed Osiris solely because he was envious, and wanted the throne of Egypt for himself.

Once on the throne, Set sought to locate and capture his sister, Isis. Again, looking solely at his actions, he had asked her to wed him in order to secure his claim to the throne after killing Osiris; however, she had uncovered his plot and refused him. He imprisoned her in a labyrinth, likely to torment her until she changed her mind, and she escaped with aid from his then-wife, Nephthys. Once Isis vanished into the world, Set angrily pursued her again -- this time, though, any and all women who looked like her and/or reminded him of her, were enslaved, tortured, slaughtered and made to fight for his amusement.

It's safe to say that, though this "Set" is the sinner he's seeking to make amends for -- and had #reasons ( read: psychological and emotional trauma ) for his actions, he was willing to subjugate the other gods, as well as use humans that he was meant to steward and rule fairly, to his own ends. Important, is that he accepts that if he was willing to do such things then -- while suffering trauma and corruption of his divinity -- he doubts he would be unwilling to do such things now, if pushed.

i know this was meant to be "the good", but really, he's a violent god with extremism issues, nothing about what he'd do once fixated is "good" and in terms of his core traits, set is the "chaos" that exists to give "order" its value!

He is dedicated to suffering in the name of penance for his crimes against humanity, though. Despite that he treated humans sadistically and cruelly, Set is determined to empathize with them and accept their pain and hatred unto himself; he bears a curse that assists him with harmonizing with their anguish, and is perfectly willing to experience their agony as if it were his own, to allow them to rest. He would never ask anyone, no matter the faction they belong to, to do anything that he would not do himself. And often, he will do those difficult things on their behalf, whether they want it or not.

What is something they treasure?

Without a doubt, the idea/l of "family" is the greatest concept that he treasures. For countless years, prior to becoming the god of war, Set was a young and free-spirited protector god; he traveled far and wide within Egypt, and even was known to fraternize and spend time in other lands, with other gods from other pantheons. His brother, Osiris, was heartsick that Set spent more time away from Heliopolis than at it, and tasked him with the responsibilities of the god of war at that time.

As Set spent more time confined in Egypt and Heliopolis, settling into his duties, he realized he wanted a family -- he enjoyed the idea of being a father and husband, and was allowed to wed Nephthys, the god of peace. Together, they had Anubis, and were known by gods and humans alike as a picture perfect family! It is without doubt that Set enjoyed the responsibilities of being a good husband and a patient father far more than he did as the god of war, as his warmth and gentleness towards Anubis is recounted by that same son -- only in bitter resentment, as by the time we meet this family, they've been fractured by Set's madness.

Still, while he knows his actions have cost him everything -- the respect of the gods, his power, his marriage, his family, his former status as a benevolent and beloved god, and even his mighty deeds -- he still keeps his promise to Anubis as the most sacred thing he has left. Perhaps the only thing he has left, as his son truly means everything to him. When Anubis's life and soul were threatened by Osiris, Set did everything in his power to protect his son, including giving his body to his brother in trade while vowing he'd never seek the love of family again, if only Anubis would be spared.

he really loves his kid ok

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?

His strength (and his intelligence, but he doesn't boast about THAT)! Even prior to killing Osiris, a fellow god, Set was arguably the most powerful god in the entire Egyptian pantheon. Physically powerful, divinely gifted with the domains of the desert and war, Set was the bastion against which the enemies of Egypt broke themselves time and time again. However, while known for his strength of arm, Set prides himself on his strength of intellect, the lesser-acknowledged element of his strength that has tripped up gods and mortals alike time and time again. He literally says the reason he was undefeated in every war was because he fought the battle with his head, not his might.

Considered a trickster god, Set was able to outmaneuver Osiris and kill him, despite that Osiris, as the god of life, was able to literally deny anyone, including gods, death. To Set, his power is key, but it is his clever and cunning mind and his ability to devise tactics on the fly and not shy away from using underhanded methods that truly make him a strong, mighty god. He does everything as a dominance/power play. C:

What is this character's best memory?

Raising Anubis. Teaching Anubis. Anubis's cat, Simba, and the lessons of life and death. Chariot rides to put Anubis to sleep. Generally, all of his best memories surround the birth and raising of his beloved son. Once Nephthys gave birth to that kid, Set devoted his entire existence towards raising a his child into being a gentle, kind god like his mother -- not like Set, who would always bear the weight of those killed by war and the agony of those who had to live without them.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?

CANON

— Isis. Though the two of them are perhaps forever ruined by one another now, he and Isis were best friends and confidants who entrusted themselves to one another, and were both victimized by Osiris for his own ends. While they were in direct competition for the throne, following his abuse of her and her turning her back on him in his time of need, Set continues to reminisce about her during times of vulnerability, thinking of her cleverness and power with distinct, sorrowful love.

— Anubis. He will do anything for this kid, I've said enough.

— Horus. Though the two competed for the throne, Horus had long since indicated that he had no true will to fight his uncle, and should he abandon his crusade against Isis and Egypt, he would serve him wholeheartedly. Set views Horus as the 'perfect, blessed hero' that exists to bring an end to an evil god like him, but has also been routinely surprised that Horus is willing to put his money where his mouth is, and seems to harbor faith in Set's ability to atone. He feels a fledgling respect, and perhaps even camaraderie, towards him.

KENOS

— Hayame. His chosen warrior, whom he seeks the power to bestow appropriate blessings upon. She is a friend to him, despite their volatile relationship, whom he has developed a co-dependency upon due to her validation of his existence as a god and her demands that he become better, stronger and more inspirational.

— Silco. They're soulmates. Pairbonded through the knowledge that they were both betrayed by men they admired and loved, seeking the destruction of all things ( though Set's nuclear option only comes with the caveat of 'endgame spite' ) and comprehension that they are both fathers of children that drive them to extremism.

— Sebastian Michaelis. His punching bag, favorite individual to bully and chosen 'mentor'. He yearns to embody power and prestige among mortals the way that Sebastian does, and has sought his company as teacher and guide through Kenos. He also hopes for ringside seats whenever Hayame and him fight!

— Rudbeckia de Borgia, Liem Talbott & Minegishi Gen. Whom he has come to yearn to stand as bastion for in their times of need.

And also, he has middling feelings towards both Cyrus and Yima. He believes Cyrus is innately good, but naive and could be manipulated. He would like to protect him, and may view him as a bit of a Horus stand-in over time. Yima, he views as an experienced guardian of the truths of Kenos, and has not hesitated nor shied from paying the price for her wisdom.

Character Name(s): Akua Sahelian
Series: A Practical Guide to Evil
Wiki Link: Here, heinously out of date.

THE GOOD
How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
Akua, in another point in her life, had committed genocide to achieve her goals. She is the kind of person who thought of people as disposable and only roadblocks at best for her goals. She was always an incredibly cruel villain -- up until the moment that Catherine Foundling killed her, and trapped her soul in her cloak. Akua in the moment that she is from now is an incredibly different person, and yet the same as she has always been. She will lead her people into battle, and do everything she can to reach her goals, but now she is a woman who would give up her life for someone other than herself -- or at least to reach the goal they had been pursuing. In the last moments of her time on Calernia, Akua had just given up her life, told Catherine that she loved her, and let Catherine kill her into becoming an immortal, regenerating element of the stories itself. It's Super romantic, isn't it? So she went from one extreme to another, although now the line she cant' cross includes genocide and great, senseless sacrifice. You know what that is? Growth.

What is something they treasure?
Herself, obviously. Her knowledge in magic and her gift itself are both things that she treasures greatly, beyond just herself.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
Everything. Ok, Akua never lacked for knowing that she is the best. That being said, and for a more serious answer, she is a highly skilled, extremely knowledgable woman. She knows that her assets are many, and that her blindspots are glaring, but she does not lack for confidence, however her most positive quality is her talents with her mind. Her ability to use her gift better than almost anyone on Calernia, and her quick wit and skilled political mind are all things she greatly values. She is wealthy in terms of her mental faculties, and she treasures this above all.

What is this character's best memory?
Akua's best memory is likely the most painful one she has. It's of a night with the Woe (Catherine's band of villains) and the leadership of the 15th Legion, and they sat around a fire, had dinner, and she was welcomed by them. It's a very dear memory to her, but it was also a poison, because she'd never had anything like that before. She described it as a "poison so sweet I crave the taste of it", because it was nothing like she'd ever experienced. Akua is Praesi, and was never given much genuine care of friendship, and yet she was welcomed by the Woe and spoken with like a real person -- even as she'd been a shade. It was highly impactful, and was the turning point in Akua's life.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
Catherine - Oh, Catherine. There's so much to say about her, and yet those are words that are still lacking to describe how she feels about Catherine, what she represents, and what she means. Cat is a woman Akua loves, but she's also the woman who killed her -- twice -- and the woman who Akua was obsessed with dominating and changing through half of her life. She represents change, deviation from the age of wonders, she is a story-savvy villain who cut herself time and time again, and Akua loves her for it, and hates it all in one. She's savvy enough to understand how to manipulate a story, and yet completely bored by magic and using the gift that teaching her was a pain in Akua's side. She trusted her, and gave her life for her, but Catherine and her father had killed Akua's father, and she'd played a part in Catherine accidentally killing her own father. (Yes, I understand the irony lmao) She traveled with Catherine, helped her, and in the end, she believed in the age of Order that Catherine had so carefully orchestrated. She helped her bring about the end of the Dead King, and had just used Catherine's own noose to trap herself to the Wandering Bard, giving up her life to try and keep Catherine from cutting herself yet again. It's a really complicated relationship, but! You know.
Masego - Another of Catherine's Woe, Masego was known as the Apprentice, and later transitioned his name to the Hierophant. Akua and Masego's fathers had competed for the name Warlock when they were young, but Akua has nothing but respect for the man. He's brilliant, and a gifted sorcerer. She respects him intellectually, altho there was that time she tried to tempt him with incubi and succubi and couldn't figure out why he wasn't interested Masego is someone she considers her equal, which is hard to achieve. He would even say later that they were friends. :')
Her Father - Dumisai of Aksum was a powerful, gifted mage, and Akua's father. He treasured her dearly, and although Akua's mother never married him, or even declared him her consort, part of his deal to escape to Wolof was to have a child with the Lady Sahelian. He was mostly kept to his laboratories, but he taught Akua of her gift throughout her life, and she treasured him greatly. Dumisai was killed by Catherine's father when Akua committed Genocide, and she misses him a great deal.

In Kenos/[static noises]
Akua has forged positive relationships with individuals like Hayame, Set, Vander, and Ernesto in particular. She also has positive frenemyships with Amos and Sebastian. She likes Misa, but Misa doesn't like her. 😳 Akua does not find many to hate in Kenos, although given that she holds herself higher than most, it should not be surprising that she takes little offense. Nobody has bothered to attempt to take the lance to the wound that would draw her ire (warcrimes and redemption) so she has little dislike for most.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
This is difficult. Akua's principles are hard won lessons, that were coupled with committing Genocide, and then coming to understand the gravity of what she's done. To do so again, she would have to, frankly, unlearn the lessons Catherine had taught her -- or find a reason that it is not applicable in these cases. It's possible, but not likely. I think in Kenos, the battle of bringing back worlds versus destroying new ones puts her in an odd place, as she doesn't know if she could actually bring Calernia back, but at the same time...destroying everything else would be an even graver sin. She's in a complicated place!!

What do they desire above all else?
Redemption. Something that she can't have, and she knows it.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
That she is wholly and totally unworthy of redemption, something she already knows. It's really hard being a villain on the redemption path, y'all.

What is this character's worst memory?
THE SAME AS HER BEST. It cuts so deep, that she was given a picture of what she'd never had.

Also the day her father died and then she died. It was really awful, and then promptly after, she was left alone in a cape for years. Kind of... like solitary confinement except you're dead.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
The Dead King - The enemy all of Calernia has been fighting for like 3 books. Neshamah was the ultimate villain, but because he was the ultimate villain, all other villains were never allowed to have a "win". He has skewed the balance so greatly, and is such a villain, that literally every single Hero and Villain united to fight him. Akua had helped built a weapon to deal with him, but it never needed to be used. He is also the founder of her form of sorcery! He's just that good and old.
The Wandering Bard - Ah, Akua's new polar opposite. The bard is the finger that tipped the scales toward good, and kept things tilting in balance for Good by never manipulating the Dead King to his death, even if he just occupied the north of the continent and most of the time never bothered anybody. Akua manipulates Above and Below to pay attention to her, and where the Bard is Providence, she takes the form of Calamity, the force for Evil. So the Bard is the Guide for Good, and she's... the Practical Guide to Evil (eyyyy)

THE MATERIAL

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
Fine things. Dresses, jewelry, and perfumes things to make her look good. Akua is a woman of excellent taste, and is very used to the finer things in life. She also enjoys magical artifacts and expensive armors.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
Any of the above! New dresses, jewelry, magic artifacts! She's pretty easy to please. Hell, give her a pet demon, and she'd be pleased as punch. LOVE YOU, CYRUS
- She loves FANCY armors (aka tiddy armors)

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
A Dragonbone Pipe that belonged to Catherine.
Her Fetters bracelet -- a bronze bracelet Akua forged herself from the Crown of Autumn. It has a companion piece held to the Wandering Bard, and is a symbol of her new Name of Calamity. don't mind this
A memento from Liesse
A Hell Egg (ho don't do it)
Her father's ear..... (unsure)

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc? I think Akua will want to put herself into a position of guidance. I don't see her as a leader exactly, she eschewed that position in canon, but I think finding a place where she can nudge characters along the path of a story would do her well. She will be extremely interested in taking these steps in the future, especially as she starts to find her place in Kenos.

THE GOOD

Claude's life is dedicated to his dream to remake the world and tear down its borders, and he is willing to go to radical lengths to do so. As a teenager, he fled home both to escape the abuse he had experienced throughout his childhood, and to realise his ambitions by gaining power. He made a dangerous journey across the border from Almyra to Fódlan to take his place as his grandfather's heir, and in doing so, would receive the future mantle of leader of the Leicester Alliance, one of the three major powers of Fódlan, inventing the name "Claude von Riegan" for himself and disguising his true origins to avoid discrimination.

He then enlisted at the Officer's Academy, which was a ruse to try to steal the Sword of the Creator, a sword he had heard was powerful enough to cut down mountains -- something he could use to tear down the geographical barrier between Fódlan and Almyra. It's also a sword that happens to be sacred to an entire religion... not that it stopped him. When that didn't work, he decided to get close to Byleth to manipulate him, as the wielder of the sword, for his own ends. In short, he's willing to use most tools at his disposal to achieve his goals, and that goes for people as well as weapons. He does, however, abhor unnecessary loss of life, so while political power is one of his goals, and he will wage war to defend his borders, using military aggression against a neighbouring country unprovoked, as Edelgard does in declaring war on Fódlan, is a line he refuses to cross.

What is something they treasure?
Knowledge. Claude prizes it above almost anything, because knowledge is power. He has an insatiable curiosity, and constantly strives to learn more about the world and people around him.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
If someone asked him, he'd joke and say it was his handsome good looks. In seriousness, he thinks his intelligence and cunnning are his best traits, because he uses them as his survival tools.

What is this character's best memory?
Defeating Nemesis and bringing peace to Fódlan. It signalled the end of the war after six years of conflict, as well as beginning the process of unshackling Fódlan from a false history that had held it prisoner for a thousand years, and Claude embarking on his own personal political ambitions to shape the world.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
Byleth. Regardless of whether the player chooses to romance Claude or not, Claude has deep respect for Byleth and sees their bond as two people brought together by fate or some kind of miracle, because he was the perfect person to come into his life at his greatest hour of need. He relates to him as a fellow outsider who doesn't fit in with any part of Fódlan society, but who also has a brilliant tactical mind like his own. He says they have ties deeper than blood and that no matter what happens, he'll always be on Byleth's side. He's the one lord who never stops believing Byleth will come back during his five-year disappearance, proving that despite his previously distrustful nature, he has an unwavering sense of faith and loyalty to him.

As of the Iconoclast Oracle event, Claude also confessed his feelings to Hayame, which had been developing for some time, but the apparent end of the world in that scenario made him blurt out that he loved her before it was too late. Eventually, Hayame came around and has gradually begun to accept his feelings. He promised that even if they don't always see eye-to-eye when it comes to events in Kenos, he'll always be there to support her, and he's been encouraging her to be more open with her thoughts and emotions.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
If he's backed into a corner and desperate, Claude might compromise his beliefs if it means saving himself or his friends. He values survival more than anything, so he'll play dirty and ditch some of his loftier ideals where pragmatism demands it.

What do they desire above all else?
To create a peaceful world where everyone is treated equally and free to live as they please, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, social class, birthplace, etc.
Since confessing his feelings to Hayame, he wants her world to be peaceful as well, so jinba no longer have to face persecution and enslavement at the hands of humans. If he can find a way to help with that after achieving Meridian's goal of restoring their worlds, he will.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
Claude is exceptionally paranoid, and in constant fear for his life due to a lifetime of looking over his shoulder after assassins. His trust issues have abated a little thanks to canon events and the close friends and allies he's made, but he's still very guarded, and can be distrustful of strangers. He's also deeply insecure about rejection because of his experiences, and much of what drives him to end discrimination and make the world a more equal place is so others don't have to go through the things he has.

What is this character's worst memory?
The racist abuse, both physical and verbal, as well as the attempts on his life, he recieved throughout his childhood, from his half-siblings but also from many Almyrans generally. Despite growing up a prince, he doesn't consider his upbringing to be one of luxury, and largely, because of Almyra's warrior culture, his parents left him to fend for himself against his aggressors. The situation became so severe he eventually fled the country.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
In Kenos, he has yet to develop any significantly negative CR. He is open-minded generally even about Zenith, and will try to befriend people over choosing conflict with them. He's most cautious of characters with a known reputation for hostility, like Sebastian and Silco, but will be outwardly amicable -- or at least polite -- towards them for his own convenience. edit: just kidding he's privately scheming sebastian's downfall

In canon, he has highly negative feelings towards Rhea; Claude believed she and the Church of Seiros were holding Fódlan captive in the thrall of a false dogma that bound people by social class and Crests, and which promoted xenophobia and isolationism, while hiding the continent's true history. He also knows Rhea conducted horrific experiments on Byleth as a baby to further her own agenda, besides generally meddling with political affairs, and using the military force of her knights to "chastise" her believers. While Claude never agreed with Edelgard's war, if she had not started it, it's implied Claude would have had Rhea assassinated (in another route, he does in fact go to war against her alongside Edelgard, ultimately slaying her to free the Kingdom from the grip of the Church and to bring peace to Fódlan).
In Kenos, he thinks Yima reminds him of Rhea which makes him cautious of her, but he still doesn't know enough about her to fully piece together her motives yet.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
From canon: Riding boots, lore-heavy books, exotic spices, board games, pine needle or chamomile tea

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
Poison ingredients, potions, a high-quality bow, food

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
His bow, the Hero's Relic Failnaught. The in-universe fanfic someone wrote about his parents. He totally needs to get it so Byleth can add it to his romance novel collection.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
Claude's a politician more than anything, so he'll want to steer the course of political events in Kenos between the two factions to outcomes favourable to him/Meridian, so he can fulfil his duty to Almyra and Fódlan back home and restore his world. He does, however, have an idealistic side too, and would prefer if the two factions learned to cooperate together despite their differences, rather than become embroiled in further conflict. He'll ultimately favour diplomacy and peaceful reconciliation wherever possible.

As of the first ambassador meeting he's been able to start an attempt at more peaceful relations between the two factions, and he'll keep offering to be the face of the program as needed to deescalate tensions.

Character Name(s): Voryn Dagoth, Dagoth Ur
Series: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Wiki Link: Here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

As far as he needs to go. To avenge himself and Nerevar and to restore Great House Dagoth and his home province of Resdayn, Voryn will resort to using anything ability in his arsenal that may help him. There are no lines that he wouldn't cross, willing to become a monster to get what he wants. He will sacrifice his honour and the honour of those around him, resort to subterfuge or making deals with people he despises, and kill as necessary to win.

VORYN: "If, by my crimes, you mean the inevitable suffering and destruction caused by war, then I accept the burden of leadership."

What is something they treasure?

If it's an item, it is anything bearing his sigil, especially his ring. His House means everything to him. More broadly, Voryn treasures his honour. The way that he can proudly hold his head high in a room of fools and not believe himself to be one of them. He is calm when he is slighted by others but he has a very long memory; if his pride is in any way injured, the payback, though never immediate unless he is forced into action, will be severe.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?

Um, all of them. He's vain, but overall, Voryn believes that his loyalty to his lord, his family, and his home is his most positive trait. His intelligence and cunning would be close seconds, as he believes they go hand in hand in making him the best at what he does. The third trait he'd consider his best and most positive trait is his patience. Voryn can wait and wait and wait for his opportunity to come, and it always comes.

What is this character's best memory?

Driving out the Nordic forces occupying the Chimer home province of Resdayn. In the aftermath of the joint Chimer-Dwemer victory, Voryn was given a seat at the newly-formed First Council and took on a direct advisor role to Nerevar, his lord, friend, and companion. As they were of the same generation, close in age, they bonded in this war quickly. This brought them closer together, and after that, his life was forever changed.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?

Nerevar. Nerevar was the unifier King of his home province of Resdayn, and he was his everything. His betrayal broke him and Voryn never financially recovered from it. He loved him more than he loved his family and House, which was demonstrated by Voryn countless times in sacrifices of honour and renown.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?

Promises of great power on the same level as the Heart of Lorkhan, the literal heart of the god of mischief who is credited with the creation of the mortal plane. The profane tools Wraithguard, Sunder, and Keening. Illusions of Nerevar haunting him in his dreams, scorning him for his faithlessness and the desperate acts he's willing to commit in his name. The last one wouldn't compromise his principles as he doesn't believe he did anything wrong (when he absolutely did), but it would sway him in other ways. It could cause lapses of reason, nuclear meltdowns, violent behaviour, etc. Bad vibes.

What do they desire above all else?

Revenge. Voryn wants to kill the Tribunal (Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Vivec, also known together as Almsivi) as they betrayed both him and Nerevar at The Battle of Red Mountain. Voryn believes that the three "false gods" swayed Nerevar into believing that he had tampered with the Heart of Lorkhan so that Nerevar would strike him down and take the tools. The Tribunal did plot against them so that they could take the tools for themselves to become gods. He also has a dream of purging all other races from Resdayn and restoring the province to its former glory before the war that tore it apart. He doesn't know it yet, but he has further ambitions to continue this genocide until no corner of the continent of Tamriel has been untouched by his ambition.

A secret desire that is as strong as his revenge is his desire to see Nerevar again, which he is willing to wait millennia for—and eventually does.

What are their biggest fears and/or insecurities?

His biggest fear is to permanently die and become nothing. Going from believing you are everything to being stripped of all of that would be the purest and most effective form of torture that Voryn could experience. He wants his memories and his legacy to live on, not only for himself but for Nerevar. He believes that he is the last to have truly known Nerevar and to lose himself would be to lose that image of him. It would destroy him totally in more ways than one.

What is this character's worst memory?

The Battle of Red Mountain when he was struck down by Nerevar in the Heart Chamber in front of the Heart of Lorkhan.

VORYN: "Yet beneath Red Mountain, you struck me down as I guarded the treasure you bound me by oath to defend. It was a cruel blow, a bitter betrayal, to be felled by your hand."

It torments him and will always torment him.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?

Almalexia, Nerevar's former councillor and wife. Sotha Sil, Nerevar's former councillor and teacher. Vivec, Nerevar's former councillor and general. The Dwemer, the Nords, the Orcs, the Imperials, the beastfolk. Gods. Other elves. You. Me.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?

Every gift that is known to man if it's not shit quality. Hygiene products, clothing, jewelry, alcohol, pipeweed, money, food, slaves, flowers, purple prose love letters, new books and journals, fancy pens, magical trinkets, cool swords, spell scrolls, ancient tomes, small or large machines, perfumes, furniture and decorations, sworn oaths, etc.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?

Voryn would be genuinely thrilled to receive Ancient Dagoth Brandy, a spirit brewed by his brother Endus. Any of his war armour would be welcome, too, as well as any of the ritual items from his ancestral home of Kogoruhn. This would include a Sixth House Bellhammer, a Sixth House ritual table, these big fucking bells, or tapestries bearing his House sigil.

Finally, the profane tools Wraithguard, Sunder, and/or Keening; however, they're last because they're immensely powerful weapons, as together they are able to alter reality. Sunder and Keening are unable to be wielded without him first equipping Wraithguard or he would be killed instantly. Wraithguard, therefore, would have to be first, and it isn't actually as bad as the other two skill-wise. It would shield Voryn and make him resistant to many magic effects. Sunder, the hammer, and Keening, the short blade, are pretty overpowered for the setting, as they apply permanent buffs to physical and mental attributes that would likely have to be capped.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?

The mask, which is the clear winner here, or One-Clan-Under-Moon-and-Star, Nerevar's ring. It's extremely powerful, but if it's put on by another other than Nerevar, it instantly kills the wearer (my god, so many of these items auto-kill people), which could be an interesting last-resort thing if someone else's ring would even be allowed to him as a regain. He'd probably keep it gayly hidden on a chain beneath his robes or something.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?

I took this from my application, I have no regrets.

I'd like Voryn to integrate himself better by eventually opening a small enchantment/curiosities shop, but this is honestly so far off and still up in the air because he can do this wherever. Little curiosities that do dumb or useful things in people's daily lives would also be cute. I would also like to get him involved in the politics of Springstar and Highstorm. If there are no political games to play, then if it's possible to create some, I will attempt it. Hosting ritual salon gatherings would be something bougie he would do to gain knowledge and encourage others to spread their own for the benefit of Meridian.

He's also slated to have a Meltdown Supreme eventually, as he is a bit of a ticking time bomb where sanity is concerned. He just lost everything of value to him and that was before he even arrived in Kenos. I would love to have him develop the invasive dream ability he has in canon that players can use to plot with me or among themselves; essentially, by opt-in, this could add a strange, almost eldritch roulette element to the dreams that are sometimes caused by Tier 2 Discord build-up or dream shares between Entwined (via Koinonia) partners. This will open up pretty interesting opportunities down the line, not only for me but for others.

Player plots are my bread and butter! I'm not sure if I'd have enough gumption to host an event, but this could lurk in the background.

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfil their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

Everything Ruby does is to accomplish her goal, and there's very little she balks at. Most obviously, she'll accept a lot of harm to herself in the name of long-term survival. She'll submit herself to any humiliation, any violence, any role as long as it means she might live — even if she risks death in the process, just as a fun little contradiction. She's also willing to turn a blind eye to violence inflicted on others, which she notes when the demonic monsters she's living with eat other humans.

Considering she's always been the victim in her lives, it's hard to say where Rudbeckia draws the line in regards to personally committing violence — she's never once been in a position to even think about it. At the height of her despair, she scathingly recommends to other nobles that they should threaten and murder her brothers, but at the same time, she's someone who leans more towards self-loathing and suicidal despair than she is likely to have the self-worth to commit murder for herself.

What is something they treasure?

I'M REALLY NOT JOKING WHEN I SAY SHE HAS NOTHING. Um. Uh. "Treasure" is a stretch but something she is fond of... Popo, the popori (a kind of demonic monster) that was kind to her one time when she got lost in the woods.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?

HAHA... As far as Ruby is concerned, she's only good at one thing, and that's acting. While she won't admit it to herself in her day-to-day existence, she considers herself to be a wretched and worthless person, as well as an unlovable monster.

What is this character's best memory?

Something innocuous and pathetically simple from her previous life: just a day spent with her adoptive sister with nobody else around, a rare occasion that wasn't tainted by the looming shadow of the rest of her family.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?

✦ Her older sister from her adoptive family in her previous life. They weren't even particularly close siblings, but Ruby upholds her as the only person in the world who ever genuinely cared about her or showed her kindness even in the smallest ways.
NEW! ✨ Set. As far as Ruby is concerned, he is the only person she has ever known who is both completely accepting of her and who actively desires to protect her. Prior to the May Oracle Event, her feelings towards him were more cautious, but ever since his promise that he would keep her no matter what side she stayed on, she feels more favourably towards him than anyone else.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?

Any improvement to her chances of survival. This doesn't have to be a guarantee; she's willing to gamble as long as she thinks she might have a chance. With Iske, for example, she's willing to accept being beaten, abandoned, used for sex, or exploited for her monster-taming abilities — all of it a future she dreads, but will submit herself to because as the protagonist, he's the strongest lifeline.

What do they desire above all else?

Ruby would say survival, or perhaps safety, even if that's something she's never actually experienced. Beyond that, a peaceful end to her miserable existence. Deep deep down, the thing she actually desires above all else but would never admit to is a happy life where she is loved and wanted.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?

She is afraid of death, most prominently. Her actual biggest fear is abandonment, though she refuses to confront that fact; hand-in-hand with that, she's similarly afraid of honesty and exposure, as her experiences have taught her that anyone knowing the "real" her will inevitably result in that person violently turning against her. Having been berated, bullied, and abused all her life, her insecurities are too numerous to count.

What is this character's worst memory?

Shortly after she became Rudbeckia de Borgia, she attempted to derail the plot of the novel by rejecting an arranged marriage that would later contribute to the Borgias' downfall and massacre, trying to protect her new family. As soon as she went against their plans, she learnt that her new family was no different to her old one — Cesare made her watch as he fed her pet bird to his snapping turtle, and then the Pope had Cesare beat her until she had to beg for her life.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?

✦ In her previous life, her adoptive parents and eldest brother. Her mother was both verbally and physically abusive towards her, belittling her for every perceived mistake or flaw; her father, Ruby only refers to as "a monster." Her eldest brother was the worst case, severely abusive to her in myriad ways right up until her death.
✦ In her life as Rudbeckia, her adoptive father Pope Borgia and her eldest brother Cesare. Cesare is the person she despises most in the world; abusive, possessive, controlling, mercurial, obsessed – he is one of her worst fears and the source of a great deal of her trauma.
✦ She also has complicated but prominently negative feelings towards Iske, her fifth husband; he's someone she had to rely on for survival even though he's also the character that was meant to kill her, and so she spent all their time together terrified of the moment he'd suddenly murder her. She considers him both "the shining knight" (the protagonist, a hero, a good person) and "Bluebeard" (a threat, her tormentor, her murderer).

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?

Any gift she receives is likely to be regarded as conditional or trade, so she'll never actually be happy about it, but she'll always pretend she likes it. If you asked her, she'd play vapid princess and say something like clothes or jewellery. The one thing she might actually like would be a sentimental gift, not because she cares but because it's an indication that she can use that person as a lifeline.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?

Useful items that would protect her... Enchanted accessories that cast a shield or turn her invisible or teleport her away when she's in danger, things like that.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
  • Items from home: her wedding ring (which she actually left by the Tree of Life), Cesare's golden turtle statue... I'll add to this list as I think of more unpleasant keepsakes hlgkfhdg
  • Things she has thrown into the void being returned to her. Current list: Sodom and the Holy Grail, the novel that Rudbeckia is from.
  • Resources to learn Korean...
OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?

✦ The ultimate goal is to crack her open under pressure until she can finally discard her fake persona, but that's long term! I don't want her to be exposed in full too quickly.
✦ But, in that vein, things that feed into her stress and paranoia, that remind her of her worst memories because her life is an endlessly repeating cycle until she can finally break free of it... Good content. Getting tangled up in the Church could be good for this, or otherwise caught under someone's thumb. (This can also be other PCs lmao.)
✦ Ruby is in a unique position in Kenos: she will never care about the outcome of the faction war, because it doesn't matter what happens as long as she doesn't have to go home. So I think it would be fun if she gets to explore neutrality and Hating Both Sides lmao. Getting her caught up in faction disputes is also fun because I do eventually want her to snap and reveal that she couldn't care less about either side.
✦ I'm never going to want her to be self-sufficient or combat-ready, and in fact my preference is to make her more dependent on others.
✦ She won't ever get involved in the PvP elements of the game, so giving her social arenas to work in maybe? I would actually love for her to end up being targeted and bullied the way she is in canon because I'm evil. One of Ruby's worst habits is that she will not defend herself when accused of anything, because she expects nobody will believe her anyway, so I would adore if I could get her accidentally caught up in some social drama and falsely accused of some shit.
✦ Continuing her Disney Princess For Monsters adventures! I'd love to continue developing her relationship with monsters like those in Alenroux independent of any faction motives, since it's one of the few things Ruby will ever be invested in of her own will. She's particularly interested in providing sanctuary for those she's able to rescue, which Set has offered his shrine in the Beyond as currently – her ambitions aren't grand, she's more focused on making a better place for the dozen or so creatures that she's befriended over the months.
✦ Someday I want her to reclaim her original identity, the one she was never able to actually live as, but she has complexes built on complexes about that and would also feel strange about it when she isn't in her real body. So... Opportunities to find out if there are ways she could get her actual appearance back...
NEW! ✨ Becoming Set's head (and probably only) priestess. This hasn't started just yet (as of June) but soon she's going to come to the decision to completely overhaul her "role" in Kenos to make her existence revolve around her relationship to Set. She's going to make herself known as his priestess and make efforts to carry out the appropriate duties, so – as Set's reputation in Kenos evolves, so will hers as his shrine maiden!!
NEW! ✨ To Ruby, Zenith is coming to represent the same life that Romagna and the Borgias offered, where she is offered "love" but lives in fear of the consequences for disappointment; therefore, Meridian shares the position of Britannia and Iske, a place where she is hated and scorned but allowed to live if she proves her usefulness. Opportunities to feed into this cycle would be very much something I want! Currently, with Zenith, if she could get into some sort of situation where she is found lacking in order to cement this cycle...

Byleth | Fire Emblem: Three Hopes

[personal profile] fishfearme 2023-01-11 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name(s): Byleth Eisner
Series: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
Wiki Link: Here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfil their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

Byleth's red lines are betrayal, senseless killing or killing someone in an unnecessarily cruel and painful way. Otherwise he would do whatever he needs to to achieve his goals, and can be ruthlessly pragmatic about it as well. Being a mercenary, he is more about victory and survival over honour.

Additionally, he has a rather... interesting approach to who he helps in battle: he states in Three Hopes that he learned to disregard those deemed 'a lost cause', so that he can focus on those whose survival is assured. Since it's implied he's been serving as a mercenary since he was in his early teens at least, it's likely this was a coping mechanism he developed to better process the many, many, many battles and people he's killed throughout his life (and those he was unable to save).

So, it does mean that the moment he registers at someone as being 'a lost cause', he won't go out of his way to help or connect with them. They're basically a non-entity. Perfectly healthy way of dealing with things...

Update 26/06: Recent events now have Byleth considering what it is he really wants and how he'd accomplish whatever it is he decides on. He's also slowly beginning to realise that his earlier habit of attributing something as a 'lost cause' isn't really a sustainable way of doing things when you're not a wandering mercenary with barely any roots. He's stuck in Kenos, for better or worse, and he can't keep drifting along hoping blind obedience to Meridian's orders will get him back home. He's gotta - gasp - find his own way.

This does mean Byleth's at his most conflicted right now...

What is something they treasure?

Jeralt. His father for the longest time has been the only one to truly understand him, and see beyond his 'emotionless façade'. To put it simply, Byleth is a daddy's boy, and if you take the route in Three Hopes where Shez kills Jeralt, Byleth uh, well, to say he doesn't take it well is putting it very mildly, let's just leave it at that.

It does mean he has a very strong, borderline co-dependant relationship with Jeralt. He loves him with every fibre of his being, but it means he's got a massive weak point in his mental/emotional health whenever Jeralt's safety is threatened. In Three Houses, he had developed a support network within the Monastery to weather Jeralt's inevitable death, in Three Hopes, he has no one but Jeralt.

However, his time in Kenos has started to let him open up and connect with other people: especially Claude, who he's starting to become deeply attached to. Following the Rube Goldberg machine that is Byleth's logic processing, he's likely going to start aligning his opinions and interests according to Claude's preferences, like he did with Jeralt, because again, Byleth's approach to things is soooooo healthy (no).

Update 26/06: Jeralt is still Byleth's most treasured person, and Claude is beginning to influence Byleth in both good and bad ways, because of Claude managing to elbow his way to the near top there. HOWEVER. Byleth is also beginning to treasure other things than putting all of his mental eggs in one frayed basket: novels. He's discovering the joy of putting pen to paper and writing the happy endings he wants for himself and those around him. They're terribly written and amateurish, but it makes him happy, and he treasures most of the happy endings he makes, even if they are 'fictional'.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?

Their combat ability. Byleth is a powerful warrior, and he knows he's powerful - but not to the point of arrogance. Put him on a battlefield, and he'll be able to concoct a suitable plan with the assets available to him and bring to bear the muscle needed to get through it. He's aware of his limits, though - he freely confesses that he still can't defeat Jeralt in a spar, and genuinely praises people who get one up on him in battle.

Jeralt would probably say his best quality is his blunt sincerity. Byleth can't lie or deceive his way through an open door.

Update 26/06: A quality that two people (Set and Claude) have identified in him is also his gentleness and kindness. Buried underneath all the pragmatism and poor coping mechanisms from a lifetime of battle, Byleth is a gentle soul, though he finds it hard to see it in himself. He can be pretty hard on himself in general, and even says he's well-suited to a time spent in war, since it's all he's good at. But, if Set and Claude say he's gentle and kind, then, well, maybe that can be one of his qualities alongside his combat skills.

What is this character's best memory?

During Three Hopes, probably managing to make friends with his peers for the first time. Outside of Three Hopes, likely it would've been a memory from childhood and would involve Jeralt in some way. His father has always been in his life, protecting him and loving him unconditionally, despite all the various oddities Byleth had. Even Jeralt admitted in his journal that Byleth was a strange and creepy child, but he loved him regardless - hell, this man burned down part of a church to fake his kid's death to get him away from Rhea, who committed horrible experiments on Byleth as a baby in an attempt to make him the perfect vessel for Sothis, which, uh, she succeeded in doing...

Update 26/06: He now has a contender for best memory, though: that being his 'blind date' with Claude at the Masquerade. It's something he does think fondly of, especially as he figured out who exactly his 'date' had been. The whole thing was platonic, but Byleth was still happy to experience a date for the first time.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?

I'M LIKE A BROKEN RECORD I'M SORRY but Jeralt the Bladebreaker, his father.

As stated above, though, he's getting deeply attached to Claude, and Dimitri is a close second. Without Jeralt around, he's starting to lean on those two because they're both familiar, even if they come from the Bad Timeline (in his opinion), and because Byleth's two states are 0 or 1000, his positive feelings for them are shooting right up to the max there.

Update 26/06: BIGGEST SIGH. He's also becoming very attached to Set because of multiple reasons: one, the guy didn't even know him that well and said to his face that there was nothing wrong with him and he wasn't a heartless person. Two, Byleth can sense that Set's hurting somehow, and he's always empathetic to such things. Three, Set is a god that Byleth feels comfortable in asking advice from regarding sort of god things (thanks Sothis). THESE THREE TERRIBLE COMBINATIONS mean Byleth has a blind spot the exact shape and size of Set and he's made it his life's mission to fulfil his promise to Set to "give him a happy ending". Somehow (it's a plan in progress).

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?

Difficult to say. The red lines are something he's inflexible over. The only thing I could see him sort of compromising on is the betrayal bit, if only because his definition of betrayal may differ from what someone else's is (an example being when he switches side to the protag's faction, technically speaking his contract was concluded with his client, so it wasn't a betrayal to then be hired by his client's enemy, because his loyalty was no longer bought with coin). So, theoretically, he could switch over to Zenith if he felt they offered a chance to bring back Jeralt, but currently his loyalty to Claude and Dimitri are too strong, as well as his delusion that their worlds aren't destroyed, they've just been snatched away and need to find a way back.

Update 26/06: This remains unchanged, Byleth is refreshing in that he will pull dirty tricks or battlefield backstabs if necessary... but he won't betray his friends no matter the circumstances. The problem arises if sticking with a losing Meridian would count as 'betraying' Jeralt by potentially gambling on his life and losing him, and if that'd be enough to have him betray Claude and Dimitri to go to Zenith as a result. It is legitimately something Byleth's been pondering since they've lost the Oracle a second time, but he isn't anywhere near defecting to Zenith just yet. They've only lost one Oracle. There's a chance to turn things around.

Sothis on the other hand will not hesitate to burn multiple bridges for what she perceives to be Byleth's benefit so. Hm.

What do they desire above all else?

He's a pretty simple guy, really. To keep living the mercenary life with his old man, and maybe make friends who can understand him and not be afraid of him, the 'Ashen Demon'. More recently, he's planning on rekindling the current relationship he has with Claude and Dimitri with his own Claude and Dimitri once he returns to his world.

Update 26/06: But he also wants to help his CR in Kenos achieve their desires too - or what he thinks is best for them. He wants Claude to succeed in establishing peace in Kenos, even if Byleth thinks it's impossible personally, he wants Hayame to find a reason to keep on living, he wants to give Set his happy ending, etcetera. Tl;dr he wants everyone to get their happy endings ;w;

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?

He's aware that his difficulty in emoting causes people to think of him as emotionless or cold when he's anything but. It's something he's actually pretty insecure over, as he spends time practicing smiling, and even admits to being afraid that Jeralt doesn't realise how much Byleth appreciates him.

More recently, Byleth is realising that he's terrified of being alone and having no one to understand him, though he's not really acknowledging it and just stuffing it down where all his other bad emotions are. The fermenting mental breakdown is something for future Byleth to deal with.

Update 26/06: With Sothis waking back up and her snatching control during the Oracle event, his fear of being trapped have rekindled. Though it was a consensual possession, the sensation of being trapped in your own body, unable to speak or move and feeling something manipulate you, is something he finds deeply uncomfortable and distressing. If he thinks too deeply about the implication of what Rhea was trying to achieve with him, planting Sothis's Crest Stone in his heart, he does get a shiver at the thought of that being his reality forever if her scheme to resurrect Sothis through Byleth had succeeded...

What is this character's worst memory?

Probably when he awakened to Sothis's power and ended up getting possessed by her briefly. He fought against her possession successfully, but was notably jumpy after the fact. Needless to say suddenly finding a goddess bodysurfing you and trying to murder a guy running away from you is probably a very unnerving experience. As such, it's made him twitchy about events where he's at risk of losing control over his body or just losing control of the situation in general.

Sothis, you turned him into a control freak...

Update 26/06: The Oracle event DID NOT HELP THIS. It's just compounded his fear of losing control even more, and now combined with his aimlessness and not sure what he wants or what to do regarding the Meridian/Zenith conflict, it's threatening to fester as a problem later down the road.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?

Byleth doesn't really... hate anyone. In Three Hopes we're in the route where Jeralt didn't die, so he's ambivalent towards anyone who isn't Jeralt (who he loves) or his new friends (who he appreciates). Hell, he had no hard feelings against Shez who tried to kill him so, technically the answer is no...

But after Jeralt told him of the true reason why they evade the Church, Byleth probably has a lot of... wariness towards Rhea. He knows that if she ever recognised him, she'd try to get him back as Sothis's vessel, and also because he's technically running around with Sothis's heart which Rhea will definitely want back at some point. While he doesn't hate her, and he isn't afraid of her, exactly, he recognises that she's a major threat to him, and he does make him uneasy in general.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?

HE HAS A CANON FAVE GIFT LIST which is this: fishing float, hunting dagger, whetsone, training weight, owl feather and The History of Fódlan book.

Essentially, anything practical or which helps in his self-improvement. He will, however, enjoy being given books about romance stories or fairy tales, or even myths and legends.

Update 26/06: Romance novels too, the trashier the better. Even the smutty ones...

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?

Again, anything practical. For specific things, maybe vulneraries and elixirs as healing items, another spare cloak in case his gets destroyed in some way (Jeralt bought him his outfit so he'll be sad if it gets irreparably damaged), another sword to act as a back up one... or just food. He eats like a bear preparing for winter hibernation. You can never go wrong with food.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?

I finally remembered... there is something he would never ask for, but would want: Shez's merc whistle. He can be given it by Shez and it deepens their relationship (cough as rivals cough), but it is one of his treasured items.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?

Probably picking up from where he left off in Hopes: learning how to interact with others without having Jeralt there acting as an emotional crutch. As well it'll be interesting seeing how far he'll really go for a chance to return to what is familiar, or if he'll willingly try to move on to something new.

Update 26/06: Byleth is finally entering the stage where he needs to figure out what it is he wants to do with himself. He can't tie his opinions and motivations onto someone else's, he has to decide it and stick with it. This is new grounds for him, though, so it'll be interesting to see where this leads him!

Character Name(s): Bondrewd
Series: Made in Abyss
Wiki Link: Here CW: Unethical science, child experimentation, body horror

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

SIGHS SO HEAVILY,

So, the crux of Made in Abyss's narrative is the abandonment of all things you know and love, for the sake satiating one's desire. The protagonists of the story may be children seeking the truth of what lies at the bottom of the Abyss, but they continuously meet other individuals who exemplify what it means to pursue Their Goal. Bondrewd is one of those individuals, and by the time the protags meet him, they already know some of the frightening, legendary stories about him: that the Sovereign of the Dawn is famous for his scientific achievements. That these achievements have greatly benefitted the world, yet have been performed at the expense of the lives he accepted as sacrifice for every inch of progress.

The White Whistles in general are all cited to be insane, lacking in any form of humanity that prevents an individual from acting so wicked. After all, to face the Abyss that can kill you just for attempting to return from it can drive a man insane. Bondrewd was the first in line to throw away his own humanity and morals, sacrificing "himself" as the ingredient that would grant him the White Whistle and the noteriety that came with it. He is the epitome of what it means to be devoted to the unending, unyielding beast that is human progress and scientific triumph.

Readily fascinated by the unknown, Bondrewd has resorted to all manners of morally questionable, if not outright immoral, means to conduct his research - he has been a black market dealer of items and information, a developer of dangerous and illicit drugs, and an unethical scientist who performs experimentations on living humans. In canon, his methodology is noted to be against all ethical principles that guide the Delvers, but he was allowed to continue because he achieved outstanding results. He is not an extremist, and would rather not leap to upsetting degrees of amorality or method, as it would disrupt his diligence and commitment to accurate, precise science, but he has -- no human morals or limits.

What is something they treasure?

Progress! Above all else, Bondrewd is devoted to the development of humanity ( Kenosmanity? ). His entire goal in canon is to make sure that the Abyss's curse and its lethal flora/fauna kill as few explorers as possible, and to minimize the suffering caused to those who are sacrificed. He is one of the individuals known for examining the Abyss's archaeological stratums, concluding that something akin to an extinction-level event occurs every 2000 years; with the next 2000 year mark coming up, he has abandoned his own humanity and morality in order to ensure humanity survives it. The story presents a reasonable argument that what he does is more humane than how people used to protect themselves from the Abyss, but the problem is that this still amounts to wasting thousands of innocent lives in horrific ways so that people can poke around a big nasty hole in the ground.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?

His vast intellect, his unrelenting drive toward the future, and his devotion to his goals.

All characters in Made in Abyss are defined by their desire to pursue the mysteries of the Abyss — which is very representative of the Nietzschean mentality that effuses the series itself. Though their goals take different forms, every one of them is possessed by some degree of yearning to uncover the secrets of the Abyss: why it exists, what its existence means and what can be found at the bottom of this deadly, uncaring ecosystem. Bondrewd is one of the adults of the series who has long since taken his infatuation with the "unknowns", wrapped that infatuation around itself and created a Fucked Up Mobius Loop of humane inhumanity. He has decoupled himself from the trappings of ethic and morality, allowing him to pursue science and knowledge without faltering.

His goal is wonderfully pure: ensure the survival of humanity, ensure they survive the Abyss. His methods for achieving this goal are obscene, monstrously methodical and driven by logic. Bondrewd is what happens when one purges themself of their humanity and leaves behind only the logic, only the intelligence. While he speaks mechanically, he is a man who is perpetually enamored with everything — from the bug on the ground, to the individual who he is eviscerating on a battlefield. He is not an unfeeling entity, either. His feelings are divorced from the trappings of human morality. Bondrewd takes great pride in his work, and wholeheartedly believes in his methods, without remorse or hesitation.

What is this character's best memory?

The birth, life and death of his daughter, Prushka.

Prushka was a child born in the Abyss to one of his Umbra Hands ( the employees/servants that attend him and the Idofront ), then brought to the Idofront as a toddler. She very nearly died during the descent, and was taken in by Bondrewd as his beloved daughter; born physically and mentally damaged due to the Abyss, Bondrewd painstakingly and methodically provided her with everything she needed to develop into a surprisingly well-adjusted ( uh ) and normal girl. She was his assistant, the love of his life and the most necessary tool he could use in his quest to examine the Blessing of the Abyss — which required that the two of them felt unconditional love towards one another.

Though he loved her, or perhaps because he loved her, he was able to surgically pare her body down to nervous system and rely on her to offset the Curse, granting his body the Blessing. While this meant she would die, because of her sacrifice on behalf of the protagonists, Prushka was reborn as a White Whistle and was able to go on the adventures she dreamed of with her new, young friends — with her father proudly seeing them off. IT'S SO MESSED UP, HOLY SHIT.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?

For all his atrocities, Bondrewd genuinely loves and cares for everyone who he meets.

It's,,, just that the way he sees and expresses this love is so alien, it comes off as intensely fucked up. In short, he has developed a mentality so fixated on progress that he sees any kind of contribution ( willing or unwilling ) to such explorations as a beautiful achievement and the greatest thing one can accomplish in life, no matter how horrific they may seem to an average person. Despite using countless adults and children in his deeply agonizing and horrific experiments, he remembers each and every one of them — their names, their aspirations and their personalities.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?

This is both an straightforward answer and a complex one. The direct answer is that Bondrewd does not really have any principles that he has not, or could not still, abandon in pursuit of scientific progress.

He is a man that values information above all else, and has truly embodied the meaning of sacrifice in the name of understanding the world. While he is known for his human experimentation, he also has expressed that he made every attempt not to be wasteful of human life — after all, what he ultimately researched was ways to mitigate the high cost of human life, protecting the sanctity of it. It was only after exhausting every other attempt — including using his own mind and body as a testing ground — that he turned to people. Whatever principles he has left are honed in on ensuring all people of Kenos survive whatever threats come their way, and compromising his principles is more akin to a slow, gradual descent into what is necessary.

What do they desire above all else?

Results.

Bondrewd serves the narrative as the foil to the main character, Riko. Where he is willing to sacrifice everything in pursuit of his goal, she refuses to sacrifice anything while pursuing hers. That their goals are the same thing is an exact science; she represents the passion for adventure, the love for companionship and he represents the abandonment of those things in exchange for the same desire. Ultimately, Bondrewd desires "results" above all other things, including friendship, companionship, romance, and any other social connection. While he loves, feels and conceptualizes all emotions, he is divorced from them and they do not preclude him from electing to set them aside in exchange for results.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?

While he does feel these things, the aspect of his human inhumanity that makes him dangerous is that he is entirely capable of disregarding them. Likely, because his greatest desire is to achieve results on behalf of humanity, his fears/insecurities would relate back to the inability to accomplish those things. Canonically, he did not begin his experimentation at the extremes. That he saw human experimentation as a senseless waste is emblematic of the root of any fear or insecurity he might have: that he did not obtain results efficiently, or at all.

What is this character's worst memory?

Little is known about Bondrewd's life. At some nebulous point in his life, he was responsible for an unknown criminal offense in a foreign country, and a bounty was placed on his head. Because he has spent much of his life forging a path forward, relentless and ruthless, there are likely few moments in his life that he has not come out on top of. He is the embodiment of logical progress, and thus is separated from the frustrations and woes other researchers might experience throughout their lives. However, the worst memory he might be able to draw on is less an emotional trauma and more a physical one; the Abyss is thought of to operate in as a system of exchange, offering something that those who dive into its depths the thing they most desire in exchange for the thing they least. This often results in some insanely dark body horror and agony.

So, probably the moment the Abyss took his humanity was extremely traumatic, even if he was entirely willing to give it up. :>

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?

Not at all! Maybe he could develop a friendly rivalry in Kenos, but I doubt he would ever be capable of having negative feelings towards anyone. Emotions that would guide negativity, such as envy, jealousy, anger, sadness, competitiveness, and the like have long since taken backseat to his progress-driven mentality.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?

Being a pragmatic and logic-driven guy, gifts that relate directly to his research goals ( listed below ) are the types of gifts he would appreciate most. Access to resources! As a scientist, he's always in need of resources such as data, opportunity and subjects. Materials for his research! Laboratory instruments and equipment and record-keeping materials ( he likes to handwrite his notes ) And kitschy things, ngl. A #1 Dad mug? Delightful.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?

Zoaholic, without a doubt. *** I plan on plotting this one out, rather than asking for it through AC rewards alone!
— Any laboratory equipment from the subjects of anatomical study ( human or animal! ), alchemy/chemistry, geology, health science or what might be pertinent to unique Kenosian fields of study: the Blight and the soul!
— Books on native Kenosian materials: plants, animals, geology, etc.
— Regains from his homeworld. Artifacts ( the dumber the better ), native flora ( Eternal Fortunes, especially! ), and geological phenomena, such as glowstones. Charming!

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?

— A Corpse-Weeper egg/chick. It is a strange creature that can mimic the dying sounds of its prey ( such as screaming for help! cute! ) and they actually are capable of domestication and make excellent and loyal companions.
— M m m..... Meinya.
— AN LED LIGHT PLATE FOR HIS HELMET SO HE CAN MAKE EMOTICON EXPRESSIONS!!!!!!

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?

Bondrewd is a vibes-driven researcher, who is largely focused on providing support to Kenos's inhabitants. Even if those same inhabitants become horrified by the lengths he's willing to go to provide that support. Without a doubt, I want him involved in research opportunities relating to the soul, as this is a topic he has demonstrated great passion for in canon — he's even been able to mark the existence of the soul by tethering its existence to a lantern that remains lit until such a time as the individual dies and the soul is released. He's here to contribute to everyone's understanding of the world at large, moreso than experience a personalized character arc.

He has also shown interest in assisting other characters in arresting ( and, without a doubt, weaponizing! ) the Blight that has begun to pervade the natural environment of Kenos. Assisting with or independently working on methodology to investigate, understand and handle the Blight would be a great realm for him to lend a hand to, as well. ACCOMPLISHED!

As he's also known to bolster his own finances/resources by selling information, I'd love at least one opportunity for him to make the Logical Decision to sell information ( or sell out people! ) to the Meridian side of the faction game.

Lastly, a great arc would require him regaining ( and possibly having to work to re-empower ) Zoaholic, which he uses to steal bodies. While his Umbra Hands willingly participated in this, I would love to run an arc where he essentially earns the admiration or trust of a key figure in one of the key locations ( Springstar, Highstorm, Kowloon ), and then takes over their body via Zoaholic, gaining access to their voice/standing and using it in very dodgy ways. I'd like him to remain with Zenith for the long haul, ultimately and die once he's fucked something up. :>

Character Name(s): Rin Tohsaka
Series: Fate/Stay Night
Wiki Link: Laughs in "enjoy TM wiki" that's hell you're walking into

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
Despite saying multiple times that she's a "cold hearted magus" and that she "will kill someone if they get in her way" she never actually proves any of those. It's very likely that despite her big claims that she'd not be able to kill in cold blood.

What is something they treasure?
Her sister The jewel pendant her father gifted to her before he was killed.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
Perseverance and Determination. Through gritted teeth she can overcome anything. Though what sets her apart from her father is her adaptability. Because trivial mistakes so often come up and bite her in the ass, Rin has learned to shift gears quickly / alter her plans on the fly / get creative with solutions. It's a skill her father never really had to develop.

What is this character's best memory?
Handing down her favorite magical hair ribbon to her sister.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
Aside from the canon list on the wiki:
✧ Gray: Immediately Rin became soft on Gray because of her face, but the girl's polite nature and willingness to help solidified herself as someone Rin wants to look out for

✧ Lucien: While she doesn't exactly harbor any special feelings about him, Rin couldn't help but take him under her wing after learning how pathetically helpless her neighbor was. As he is "part of her world" now, Rin tends to comfort him when he's crying or prepare meals for them both. In exchange he'll do other menial chores and keep her room clean because she's a fucking disaster in that regard

✧ Atsumu: Like any respectable mage is expected to, Rin has taken on an apprentice. Atsumu is basically her little Shirou stand in, and by god does he hit a lot of the Shirou-isms for her. Incredibly stubborn to the point where she has to tell him to rest, surprisingly diligent when it comes to his study, and capable of things normal mages would just give up on (because of aforementioned stubbornness). She appreciates his work ethic, and secretly (or not so secretly) enjoys the banter they hurl at one another. Rin wouldn't use the "f" word, but others would probably consider them friends. He is a part of "her world" now, and thus takes on a notion of obligation and responsibility in regards to his welfare.

Her feelings for Dark, Dimitri, Quetz, Byleth/Sothis, Gen and Mordred are a little more complicated than "positive" or "negative," but they are currently some of the important figures she has met during her time in Kenos.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
She'd consider it if doing so meant sparing those listed above.

What do they desire above all else?
Currently? It's to create a world where she and her sister can live in without the interference of mages. To give her sister a body without the worms or connection to the tainted Holy Grail.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
Most, if not all, of Rin's fears and insecurities lie within living up to expectation. In her formative years so much happened to instill a sense of necessity to live up to aforementioned expectations. Her father insisted that she was special, that she was gifted, and that with the right training she'd be able to do anything. Meanwhile her sister was sent away to live with another family just for the unfortunate circumstance of being born after her?

With her core personality and values contradicting the ideals of a mage that her father imparted on her means she's consistently falling into a worried line of thinking that maybe she isn't good enough. That maybe it was a mistake to keep the first born, and that perhaps Sakura should have inherited the Tohsaka name. That anxiety ties in with the guilt she felt for being the one to "receive everything". But she hoped that the more she suffered in silence that the more Sakura's life was actually okay. In fact it twists her so up inside that Rin tries to convince herself that the Matou family treats Sakura well for being the saving grace of the dying bloodline of their family.

(This is why the usually suspicious Rin joins a faction quick - because she fears being useless and a failure as a mage. So she does what she can to get her abilities back ASAP)

What is this character's worst memory?
Her father's funeral. Linked is the chapter encompassing the funeral and after it where Kirei gives her the Azoth Blade which he used to kill her father. It was heart breaking for her, and the first time she ever succumbed to crying in front of him.

(Follow up contender is the day she investigated the Matou house and found the worm pit...)

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
Kirei Kotomine - the man who she entrusted her father's life to in the holy grail war. While she's of the mind that deep down she unfairly blames him for her father's demise because he was supposed to protect Tokiomi... it's actually right on the money. She doesn't know it, but the man literally stabbed her father and gifted the very knife that killed the man to her.

Zouken Matou - for taking her sister in the first place. For submitting her to that basement pit of worms. For his vile world view and for raising Shinji how he did. For merely existing because his presence, because after investigating the Matou household and throwing up in disgust and anger she knew. She knew it was him who seeded so much evil directly into their lives. For so, so many things.

Aetos - sure, Rin hates him for the violation of her magic circuits, but what she truly despises is his potential of what he might do. As someone similar to the mages of her world he invokes not only a point of sore self hatred, but also the protective instinct of wanting to prevent him from touching people she may hold dear.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
Secretly she likes gifts of sincerity that are born of specifically thinking of what she enjoys or what she could use practically. On the surface she likes shallow things — anything expensive or "worth" something because it could always be put to use, sold, or bartered off.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
✧ Gemstones
✧ High end skincare or haircare products
✧ Anything that may increase her independence or combat capabilities
✧ Anything rare or worth bragging about in Kenos bc she's Like That
✧ "Trendy" or fancy clothing / preferably "girly" to offset her "uncute personality"

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
✧ The Azoth Blade that was used to kill her father
✧ Cat themed items or cat-patterned clothing (ex. cat pajamas or cat apron)
✧ Any of these looks
✧ Tickets to any Kenos establishment whether it be nice (spa) or funny (free meal at benny's, coupon to a couple's retreat...)

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?

✧ Things I could probably use help with:
1. Rin is very much the type to power her way through things with skill, innate talent, or raw power. Sure she is an over-planner, but that's because she's so "talented" that she's never really had to think super creatively. As such I think it would be really neat if a character smarter than her would be able to direct her to utilize her abilities to their fullest (example).

2. While I don't want to be that person who demands a character arc from an NPC, I would find it fun if by some chance Rin is able to ruin a thing or two for Aetos even if indirectly.

✧ Things I may have to manifest on my own
1. Short Term: after having her shop for a few months have her go into debt and force her to work a bunch of odd jobs/part time jobs to buy it back.

2. Long Term: My current goal for Rin would be for her to be able to hit the same story beats as the end of her canon so I can update her. What I truly wish is for her to go up against someone she cares about, who she should be killing them to spare others, but in the end is unable to do so. The ideal would be to have her sacrifice herself in a way that either pulls them from the brink, lessens the severity of destruction, or is meaningful in some way.

Character Name(s): Gavial (the Invincible)
Series: Arknights
Wiki Link: Here and Here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
She’ll do whatever’s within her power and will put forth extra effort for things that really catch her interest or seem worthwhile. What she is NOT about is putting other people in danger or seeing other people do so. During her first trip back home after running away, an old friend of hers, Zumama, had risen to lead a sizable number of their people in her own tribe. A miscommunication led Gavial to believe that Zumama had ordered her people into the Originium-infested mines for her, leading to someone getting Infected. Gavial’s first instinct upon hearing this? To run off to find Zumama so she could kick her ass for endangering people.

What is something they treasure?
Freedom to follow her own dreams, huge and cool weapons, strength.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
This girl is SO proud of how strong she is and would be delighted to show it off. Her healing abilities and medical knowledge are also up there for practical qualities for her, and she really hates being doubted in that respect. She’s very compassionate about others even though she’s kind of bad at expressing it properly sometimes. And her straightforwardness is a great quality in her opinion.

What is this character's best memory?
Probably a toss-up for early memories of home, any kick-ass fights, or when she discovered her talent for medicine.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
-Zumama - Childhood friend and rival, a gearhead with a love of engineering and robotics. Despite their bickering they’ve become pretty close again, and Zumama even made all of Gavial’s new weapons and armor from scratch herself, which she thinks is cool as hell.
-Tomimi - Another long-time childhood friend of hers, and most importantly, the person Gavial had saved from the mines back home which led to her contracting Oripathy. The two are close and Gavial’s pretty fond of her, though she is incredibly oblivious to the fact that Tomimi has an absolutely enormous and obsessive crush on her. Maybe one day she’ll put the pieces together. l o l
-Inam - An old acquaintance of Gavial’s who settled in Acahualla during her childhood from the greater Sargon empire. Gavial respects her a lot and feels like she owes her, because Inam stepped up to take over as the Great Chief and Lord Ameer of Acahualla in Gavial’s stead to allow her to continue her work at Rhodes Island without having to be burdened by expectations back home.
-The medical staff at Rhodes Island in general. Bless them for putting up with Gavial.
-In game: tba!!

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
Honestly, not much. Gavial has an incredibly strong will and she’s stubborn as hell. Nothing short of threatening people at large might get her to hesitate, and it would only result in making her REALLY want to kick the ass of whoever’s responsible afterward.

What do they desire above all else?
A cure for Oripathy to help people back home. 🥺

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
Being pulled away from following her dreams by other responsibilities. And she absolutely won’t admit this outright because she’s surprisingly accepting of her prognosis, but she would hate not being able to do as much good as she possibly can before her Oripathy eventually kills her.
Actually, related to that—she would be low-key afraid of becoming an Infection vector if she were to die here in Kenos. 😬

What is this character's worst memory?
The time spent in her tribe immediately after she contracted Oripathy. She hated getting special treatment, she hated being treated as weak or fragile, and she lashed out by defeating every contender in the Mahuizzotia festival before running away from home. Despite how easy-going she can be, those first couple of years she spent as a mercenary after that were probably kind of lonely.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
Practical stuff, things for combat or strength training, medical texts.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
-literally any kind of melee weapon, particularly bladed ones. This bitch is carrying seven weapons on her in her dps-alter’s artwork. She will never tire of getting these.
-training weights for lifting. Bonus points if it’s like these ones that serve as her in-game tokens because the mental image of someone having to deliver one to her is hilarious.
-first aid kits/medical supply bags, that sort of thing. Potentially infinitely giftable bc she has a bad habit of losing her supply bags after using them as blunt weapons on the battlefield. She has her priorities, y’know?

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
-idk some kind of miniature version of The Big Ugly Thing to put on a shelf??
-A cute crocodile doll. Bonus points if it has a thick tail bc it will make Gavial mad.
-Maybe a dreamcatcher since Tomimi likes them.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
She's still kind of going with the flow for things at large... She'll be keeping an eye on making sure the Blight cures get put to good use to stop it, but now that that crisis is mostly over, she'll be looking for something new to pour herself into. Since Zenith might be getting more proactive about certain things in Alenroux soon, she might turn her attention toward that. She'd be interested in helping some of the Alenroux locals learn to defend themselves, and tbh she'd want to help them seize some independence from both factions.

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

Link is courageous to an almost inhuman degree and is willing to put himself in just about any variety of extreme danger if it's necessary to save someone or achieve his goals. There is no physical danger that he is truly afraid of; if he turns down something risky, it would be because he doesn't think he can actually do it or because the benefits aren't worth it, not because he'd be too scared to try if he believed otherwise. Go fight that monster that's probably going to turn him into strawberry jelly? Sure! Just give him a second to formulate a plan and off he goes.

This stems from a very deep part of Link's identity as the destined "Hero" and very possibly his connection to the Triforce of Courage, an ancient relic from Hyrule's past that attaches itself to the person most worthy of having it. While Link doesn't have his object in BotW/TotK or in Kenos, the connection he has to it in other games is pretty strong proof of just how fearless he is.

But it comes from another facet of who Link inherently is as a person, too, and that's his lingering sense of failure and survivor's guilt. Not only is he someone willing to put himself in harm's way, he's someone who feels duty-bound to do so. It's his job to be the Hero and protect others, and he's already failed at that twice already — once a hundred years ago, which trigger an apocalypse, and again more recently, when he was unable to deal with Ganondorf immediately upon finding him under Hyrule Castle.

With all that said... he does still have some sense of self-preservation — he can't exactly fulfill his destiny of protecting others and saving Hyrule if he goes and gets himself killed! (Again!) So as noted above, his willingness to put himself at great risk of death is still subject to a risk-reward analysis. The fact that death is largely impermanent in Kenos skews this analysis considerably... so while Link isn't willing to get himself killed, he is more willing to get himself dissipated.

When it comes to lines he wouldn't cross, Link would not find it acceptable to put others at risk to achieve his goals... not only innocent people, but really, anyone. He isn't even comfortable with the idea of having to kill other people, although he will not hesitate to do so in self-defense. The war he fought in Hyrule was against monsters and demons, not people, and even when he's fought members of the Yiga Clan (humans who have allied themselves with Ganon and his monsters), he's only done so after being attacked first or while on a mission in their territory.

Since arriving in Kenos, Link has struggled with the possibility that there's no way to achieve his goals without hurting members of the other faction, and this hesitance continues even while aligned with Zenith. Link's self-concept as the "Hero" who was born to protect and defend is a core part of his identity. This attitude has persisted even after Aetós exposed his Shard to the Timestream and revealed the cyclical nature of Hyrule's wars to him. When it comes to people he sees as truly bad and undeserving of mercy, Link is not against violence at all. The issue is who falls into that category and who doesn't.

Still, there are a few lines he will likely never cross. The first is harming children, the elderly, and other vulnerable types of people. You couldn't convince Link to harm a small child even if you held a gun to his head. He also is nowhere near the point of being willing to "fight dirty," and probably never will be. If someone is injured, defenseless, poses no threat to him, and begging for their life, he is very unlikely to take advantage of the situation and kill them anyway. The only exception to this is someone he was in the midst of trying to kill in the first place. And as seasoned as he is in combat, it's never about taking pleasure in the fighting. To him, it is a duty, a means to an end.

What is something they treasure?

After losing all of his memories, Link's most precious possessions are not real possessions at all, but those few, scant memories of his original life, before the Calamity, that he's managed to regain. Most of his knowledge of who he was before the war (and thus, who he's supposed to be now), is pieced together through a patchwork of clues found among the ruins of Hyrule, things other people have told him, and a collection of sparse moments in time that have been jogged from his memory during his travels. No physical possession is more important to him than this small collection of mental scraps from his past.

Since his canon update in October of 2023, Link regained five years' worth of happy memories with Zelda. These memories are probably even more precious to him than those from his past. After defeating Calamity Ganon, they worked together to begin rebuilding Hyrule. Zelda told him many things about their old life before the Calamity, filling in a large portion of the gaps in his memory. This gave him a better understanding of himself and a stronger sense of identity. Along with that... they were able to simply live together. Eat together, laugh together, share a home together; the romance between them that was put on hold for 100 years was allowed to blossom during this time. Nothing and no one is more important to Link, at this point, than Zelda and the few years of happiness that they managed to find together.

In terms of physical objects, the Master Sword was probably his most important and precious possession. The one he had in Kenos previously was from prior to his canon update, before it was destroyed by Ganondorf during the events of TotK. But, it was sacrificed to the Harbinger Oracle in November 2023.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?

⁕His combat and survival skills, which enable him to be completely independent from others and therefore more capable of focusing on his current goal or problem. Link prides himself in his independence and expertise. His power to take care of himself is at the core of his commitment to help others, and why his failures wounded him so deeply.

⁕His ability to stay composed and focused under pressure, regardless of what type of pressure it is — during combat, when he's lost, when he's trying to work out a problem, or even socially. Note that this does not mean Link doesn't get worried or angry... just that he's really good at hiding it and keeping himself together. This skill arose out of necessity, during his life prior to the Calamity, when Link realized that he needed to be a "rock" to others and maintain an appearance of stoic, unemotional strength. (The limits of this ability have been pushed more lately with everything that's happened to him, but even then, he's still trying his hardest not to let show how much he's struggling.)

⁕His intelligence and ability to solve problems. Because he only has a basic education (his ass did not go to high school or any equivalent of it) and his experiences have emotionally stunted him in several ways, Link can sometimes come across as a bit clueless or even stupid, but this is far from the truth. Link is highly intelligent, with that intelligence focused on problem solving, mastering skills, and being highly perceptive to what's happening around him. In D&D terms (which are not entirely 1:1 but still illustrative), he's a character who'd have average INT but very high WIS — not the greatest book smarts, but excellent street smarts.

What is this character's best memory?

Prior to his canon update, his happiest memories would be those he still retained of the early days of following Princess Zelda as her guard, slowly becoming her trusted friend, and being there for her as she struggled with her own duty. Now, following his canon update, his happiest memory is when he defeated Calamity Ganon, redeeming himself for his failure 100 years earlier and freeing Zelda.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?

Princess Zelda and the friends he's made since being revived, such as Prince Sidon of the Zora and the Chief of the Gerudo, Rizu. These people are as important to him as family.

In Kenos itself, Link has forged strong bonds with Gen, Cid, Gavial, Drizzt, and the entire Fire Emblem cast. He is also especially protective of Midna, as she is the only other person he's met in Kenos who is "from" Hyrule (more accurately, from the same universe Hyrule is part of).

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?

Link is a hero, considers himself a hero, and holds himself to the standard of a hero. If and when anything happens that would shake his understanding of himself as playing that role, or the justification for playing that rule, it would likely pose an enormous personal crisis. His identity and his concept of his place in the world is already quite fragile as it is, despite being one of the few things he has to keep going for. (I wrote this paragraph months ago, and behold, this is exactly what happened ♥)

Moreover, Link struggles with genuine moral dilemmas. Having to make tough choices in a war fought against other people, instead of clearly evil monsters, is enormously challenging for him, because he's never been in a position of having to make those calls. He isn't much of an intellectual or philosopher, so he'd normally leave such decisions to the people he's chosen to devote himself to. Kenos has left him without such a person, making him somewhat directionless and more prone to decisions that feel like mistakes in hindsight.

Certain things will tempt him to compromise his usual values. If someone that Link once considered to be a trusted friend wrongs him, he will feel especially betrayed — the people of Hyrule have to trust each other to make it through their tribulations. A serious violation of Link's trust will almost certainly move a person out of the "friend" category into "you're actually a bad person who I won't feel guilty about killing" category. Link may not always be able to recognize the way that his emotions play into this response, rather than logic.

Additionally, Link operates on a (mostly) utilitarian idea of morality. (This is why he's really a Meri character, deep down!) When presented with an option that would ultimately result in saving people and/or saving Hyrule, he will consider is more seriously, even if it's something he otherwise would never consider. Everything circles back around to his overwhelming duty towards his kingdom and saving his princess, so that underlying motivation is the best possible carrot on a stick for Link.

Even following his flavor-blasting and switch to the Zenith, these things are still highly important to him — they've just been recontextualized to such a degree that he isn't sure what any of it means anymore. But it's still just as much of a carrot on a stick as it was before. Indeed, wanting to save Zelda by getting her Shard from Yima is what ultimately enticed him to switch sides in the first place.

What do they desire above all else?

The answer to this has changed enormously in Link's time at Kenos. At first, his desires were very simple: to get back to his home world and make up for his failure 100 years earlier by defeating Calamity Ganon. Now, after his canon update, he's not so sure. He did get to go back and defeat Calamity Ganon, so in that way, he got the thing he wanted from the start... but that's not all that happened. He was given a look into his world's past and saw how far back the fighting stretches. He's seen that the evil in Hyrule is an ever-present force that can never truly be defeated, only driven back for a future generation to have to deal with all over again.

And the five years he lived back in Hyrule as part of his canon update proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that this phenomenon is still happening, even in his own era: his victory against Calamity Ganon was hollow, as Ganondorf simply reared his ugly head again five years later. He thought he'd be able to handle anything that would threaten Hyrule again with the Master Sword at his side, but Ganondorf shattered the holy sword like it was made of wood. And he thought he'd saved Zelda and that they would happily together for the rest of their lives, but instead, she disappeared into the past — and sacrificed herself for the sake of repairing the Master Sword for Link.

At this point, he's definitely feeling a little lost, but deep in his heart he still has the same strong desires as before, they've simply become more complicated. Ultimately, he still wants to save Hyrule from Ganondorf, but he doesn't know if he can do it without the Master Sword. He wants to save Zelda, but he believes her sacrifice to be completely irreversible, leading him to conclude that asking Yima for her Shard was the only way left to save her. And he wants to find some way to change the never-ending boom and bust cycles that have plagued Hyrule for millennia, but he has no idea how that would even be possible, to the point that he assumes it isn't. It's these things: undoing Zelda's sacrifice, regaining the Master Sword, beating Ganondorf, and ending the cyclical destiny of Hyrule, that he still desires more than anything else.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?

Inadequacy, incompetence, inability. Failure. Never being able to correct his past mistakes. Losing the people who are important to him again. Losing his memories again. Being powerless. Being useless. Being alone.

What is this character's worst memory?

Having to lead Zelda down from Mt. Layanru after their failed trip to awaken her powers. On the very same day, Calamity Ganon attacked, kickstarting an apocalyptic attack on Hyrule that killed all of his friends, massacred thousands of innocents, and lead to Link's mortal injury. It's a bitter and unpleasant memory and not something he is remotely proud of.

His canon update gave him a new contender for "worst memory," which would be the day he and Zelda discovered Ganondorf under Hyrule Castle, leading directly to his arm being permanently injured and Zelda disappearing... but the day of Calamity Ganon's attack still tops it.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?

Definitely Ganondorf, haha. In a more general sense, Link does not like people who manipulate others or take advantage of the trust/loyalty they've fostered in others. He is an honest person who tends to assume others are also generally good and honest too. Whenever he witnesses someone betraying the trust others have placed in them, he feels particularly offended on the victim's behalf.

Moreover, in Kenos, Link has a personal history with Aetós that has elevated them into "kill on sight" status. He has also developed very negative CR with Bondrewd. Negative, but not "highly" negative, feelings have arisen towards Set, Hayame, Silco and Raphael.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?

So, although I said Link treasures memories more than any physical item... he definitely still LOVES stuff. Food, clothing, knick-knacks, toys, tools, weapons, and gadgets of any kind are all things he'd be happy to receive! Link likes acquiring new skills, so in-person lessons to learn something new would also make him excited!

Luxury items would be less appreciated, as Link generally has no need for overly fancy things, but books have gone from something Link once didn't care much for to being very interested in. Now that he's living in seclusion in the Beyond, he's started to visit the Tomes for books to read to help pass the time when he's bored.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?

If he were from the real world, he'd probably be a typical off-the-grid/outdoorsman/hunting nerd; instead, he's a Nintendo elf, so he's more of a... swords and shields nerd. He is extremely proficient in archery, so he'd love anything related to archery: bows of different kinds, arrows of different kinds, equipment like quivers or wrist guards, even special dates/locations to do some target practice. He also really likes horses... A new horse would be especially treasured!

On top of that, tools and equipment to make life easier in the woods would also be appreciated — and this is pretty open-ended, as there's probably an infinite number of things that would make it easier to live in thick, monster-infested woods.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?

A serious answer: the Master Sword. I don't know if this is possible, and I'd accept if it isn't, since I know the sacrifices to the Harbinger Oracle were meant to be permanent. (But also, body parts sacrificed to it wouldn't necessarily be gone forever, so maybe there's some room for him to get it back somehow?) But regaining the Master Sword would be a significant motivator for Link, to the degree that it might even be something he'd be willing to bend his values for. This could be the impetus for anything from a player plot, to a plot reward, to a faction mission. Even if it was Aetós who came to Link promising a way to get it back, he'd probably still go for it. This counts as something Link would never ask for, because he earnestly believes it's gone forever and he can't get it back.

Another serious answer: not-so-pleasant tokens from Hyrule that remind him of stuff he doesn't want to think about, including and especially new memories of his past. There are certain memories Link longs for — his father and whether he had any other family, for example — but even positive memories are likely to make him feel more guilty and lonely, and further complicate his mixed feelings on his situation.

Here's a short list of tangible items that would make good gifts for Link!
Clothing sets from BotW and/or Totk. Some of these have special properties, others do not. Any of them would be something he'd be happy to receive. Since some of the armor has effects that might amount to a minor character power, I'd be okay with those effects being lost in Kenos.
Musical instruments. The presence of musical instruments within the world of Hyrule is a pretty consistent theme in the series, and sometimes Link gets an instrument himself! Anything from that list would be fun. Apologies ahead of time to everyone living nearby who will have to listen to Link practice.

Non-serious answer: stuff that's completely out of his wheelhouse, like formal wear or complicated books or a letter telling him he has jury duty.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?

At this point, Link has been through quite a lot! He went from being an immediate Meridian follower, to being unsure about having to harm others in order to get home, to accepting it and becoming a more staunchly loyal Meridian. Then the whole Aetós and canon update happened, which veered him wildly off that course and into deharmonization and the Zenith. For a while, he was metaphorically swerving in and out of traffic as he tried to figure out what to do... and now, he's settled into a numb, depressed resignation towards his situation. He wants to still want to save Hyrule, but he really feels like he's staring down an impossible puzzle.

At this juncture, I want him to stay in Zenith for a while... but while he's there, come to understand himself and his world better, to the point that it eventually leads him back to the Meridian. He really is a Meri at his core, who's just going through some very difficult things at the moment, which very few people around him can relate to. So I'm interested in having him learn more about the Zenith and Highstorm, only to clash with it. To start having the kind of philosophical conversations he never had any reason to be interested in engaging with in the past, and seriously thinking deeply for the first time about his life, his responsibilities, and his limits.

I'm also very much interested in having him be involved with future developments when it comes to Aetós!!! At the moment, Aetós is definitely on Link's list of people he considers to be unambiguously bad and therefore justified in killing... but how much does Link know about them, really? Basically nothing. It sure would be spicy if Link was presented with a reason to doubt his current conception of Aetós... or maybe even want to work with him? :3c

Wiki Link: Here for Fate and here for the god!

I’m just doing the gifts section for Jill tbh, everything else is for mine or Prince’s reference LMAO…

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
Gifts!! Hooray!! Quetzalcoatl loves any kind of gift, since in the context of AC Rewards, she’d be more likely to think of it as an offering. So she’d truly be happy with most things, from something very fitting for her like a lucha mask to like, macaroni art. Thanks for thinking of her! ♥

However, she would not be thrilled to get anything with imagery of her brother, Tezcatlipoca, most notably anything with spiders or jaguars. Also, not Tezca related, but no quails either unless she’s eating them. Fuck quails!!! Little assholes!!! (Myths are a wild ride)

Character Name(s): Yuri Leclerc
Series: Fire Emblem
Wiki Link: Here. Notably, the information for Three Hopes is sparse, but his background up to the start of either game is the same.

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
Yuri will absolutely get his hands dirty in service of his goals. To skirt potential content warning-worthy specifics, Yuri has done things that make him feel no small degree of self-loathing in order to survive and claw his way up in the world. In Hopes, his people struggle more in the course of the war, to the point that Yuri doubts he can achieve the full scope of his goals (until a conversation with King Dimitri). Despite this, as he tells Ashe, he'll become a feared and hated figure if that's what it takes to protect his people. He'd martyr himself if it came down to it. Even so, Yuri has standards. He's unwilling to victimize the weak or innocent or sacrifice them to achieve his goals.

What is something they treasure?
Above all else? Yuri loves his mother and strives to keep her safe and happy. As objects go, the notebook he was given by Aubin and writes the names of those he's lost in. His people are also extremely important to him, as they are a source of drive to press forward.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
If Yuri were completely honest? His faith is one quality he has no mixed feelings about. What he'll admit to, on the other hand, would be his beauty, intellect, and tenacity. He knows what he's capable of and he knows how to use it... Which says a great deal about how accustomed he is to being seen as a commodity.

What is this character's best memory?
Most likely? Learning to read alongside his mother. Most commoners in Fódlan are illiterate, but Yuri and his mother were taught by an old man his mother had nursed back to health. That literacy opened the world to them both.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
Number one is his mom and no one is ever going to supplant her. His mom is his world and one of his highest priorities is taking care of her. He worries over her frail health. King Dimitri has his total, sincere respect, which is a feat when typically Yuri's views of the nobility are far from sterling.

For friends, who have to yell at him when he doesn't process that yes really they are friends and don't just want something out of it, we have: Ashe, Balthus, Constance, Hapi, and Shez. He thinks well of Marianne, though her self-deprecating tendencies frustrate him at times.

Byleth's growing on him a bit. Mercenary comrade who's surprisingly earnest and kind for being the scourge of the battlefield.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
Honestly? This may be impossible. His mother's life was threatened to coerce him into working for Aelfric, and Yuri still actively undermined him the entire time. At no point was he going along with sacrificing his friends in some blood ritual. According to the developers, outside the dlc, these events would simply have occurred without Byleth's involvement.

Sacrificing the innocent is a line he simply won't cross. Doing things that make him feel disgusting and unlovable? Yes, he will, for survival or to protect others.

What do they desire above all else?
To build a better world in which commoners aren't trampled underfoot by those with power. For some time, Yuri thought this goal was out of reach, but he's come to find it may truly be possible. Notably, he wants that better world for the people already living in the present one — they can't be replaced, and the endeavor isn't worthwhile otherwise.

Also, again, the safety and happiness of his mother.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
Insecurities are a whole airport's worth of luggage that boils down to feeling unworthy. Yuri has had to do a great many things he isn't proud of, first to survive and then to claw his way up in the world and have the power to help others, and he doesn't forgive himself. He genuinely questions whether he has a place in that better world once it becomes a reality.

As fears go? Failing to protect the people who rely on him.

What is this character's worst memory?
Allowing himself to be used by nobles as a substitute for people they could not have. Yuri heavily alludes to this on multiple occasions and regards much of the nobility with a measured contempt as a result, particularly those from Enbarr.

Incidentally, his low opinion of nobles is the reason getting to know Dimitri makes his attitude toward him turn on a dime.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
With some exceptions, the nobility at large in Fódlan. All those who abuse their power, use or victimize their people, are scum so far as Yuri's concerned. Most of the bad apples are dead by this point in the war, but anyone who leverages power to harm others would be just as lowly in Yuri's eyes.

Also Aelfric for everything he did to try and resurrect a dead woman he was obsessed with.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
Yuri loves sweets and is not shy about having a sweet tooth. He'd favor pastries in particular, especially in quantities sufficient to share with others. Like others from Fódlan, he enjoys drinking tea, especially his favorites: Albinean Berry Blend, Honeyed-Fruit Blend, and Seiros Tea. Any of those would be very welcome since they're specific to home.

Honestly sweets and tea could cover him... But he's also fond of the stars, so something related to them would interest him too. Books or iconography relating to his faith in the goddess Sothis are things he'd be happy with too. Cookbooks, cookware, or new recipes to try are great also.

Yuri also has an interest in the technologies of other cultures, so texts pertaining to this are likewise something he'd be interested in.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
Yuri's fairly easy to please. Currency is king since he can use that to acquire most anything else, of course. He'll accept ingredients or food if the amount is equal to the nature of the task, or kitchen implements if those are on offer since he can use them. Practical use is most important with rewards, so far as he's concerned.

He'd accept information too, as long as it's actionable or usable in some way that furthers his intelligence-gathering, as he wants to know what's really going on here.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
A picture of his mother, if it were at all possible. Photography isn't a thing in Fódlan. I'd love to get him some glow in the dark stars he can stick to the ceiling, which likewise don't exist in his world, so he wouldn't know to want them.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
Personal growth is a very generic thing to say, but it's true. Yuri has a great deal of room to grow, and ideally, somewhere down the line he'd be able to view himself as a good man.

In the meantime, he's keenly interested in figuring out what's really going on here, because he's not buying into the narrative. Guy who fully believes in the goddess without proof does not believe his world was obliterated. Anything that comes along with his efforts to glean information (possibly with a side of subterfuge) would be fun to play with, whether he succeeds or lands himself in hot water.

Yuri's incredibly tenacious, so any challenges that come his way should be a fun time. Since he's new at the moment, he's getting his bearings and feeling this place out.

Character Name(s): D
Series: Vampire Hunter D
Wiki Link: Here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
D is very persistent and determined when it comes to his goals, but they aligned more on the side of good. He has a kind of knightly code of conduct when it comes to his decisions and combat. Preferably, he does not like killing humans; however, if the human challenges him respectably, or attacks him, he will oblige. There isn't any discrimination with non-humans, but he does offer them a polite respect no matter what they are. He does not tolerate unnecessary torture or suffering.

What is something they treasure?
Humanity and, with that, the memory of his mother who was a human. Though he does not care much for the humans who are terrible to others, D does care about humanity as a whole. Nothing is more endearing to him than civilian humans living their lives without having to worry about being hunted by vampires (or anything else). He loves human children who he sees as the flourishing generations of humans to come. Human children are typically the ones who don't treat him like a monster the way adults do with their prejudices.

Re-reading these is so funny. WELL, he now has a little found family to treasure, I GUESS. Dokja, Gray, and Eustace have become good friends he cares for. 🥹 He hates burdening them with his presence, but they are people he has come to treasure.

He has also become good allies with Hayame and Liem... so he treasures the fact they actually talk to him more than once and don't avoid him. (THE SELF ESTEEM IS SO BAD YOUR HONOR) He also treasures being able to sneakily give Byleth writing since it had made Byleth so excited before.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
He does not think he has any positive qualities slaps him repeatedly. But as long as someone does not give him a terrible reason, it's the dignity he gives to all living things by not judging them for what they are. Under the surface, he is compassionate, emotional, and sentimental, and he's extremely patient unless someone is wasting his time.

What is this character's best memory?
After helping them, receiving a photograph of Doris Lang and her little brother, Dan Lang, while getting ready to leave their town to move on. Also, he kind of liked Doris, but keeps himself from making those kinds of attachments.

In game: receiving Xmas gifts from others... 🥹

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
HELP. Looks above. He had a bit of feelings for Doris. He really likes Dan as well because Dan didn't care about his scary aesthetic or his stand-offish nature. His mother is dead, but he has positive feelings associated with her. Mommy's boy...

NEVERMIND, I HATE UPDATING THIS QUESTION. Grits teeth... Gray, Rin, Dokja, Eustace, Hayame, Byleth, Yuri.

Idfk where to put Gen!! GOD. He has a weird middle ground with Gen where they often get off on the wrong foot always, but when it comes down to it, he realizes he and Gen may have more in common at the base level than he thought.... He hates that. He hates Gen is mean as shit, but gets that Gen is mean as shit probably because he's only dealt with having awfulness. 😮‍💨 Grits teeth.... He wants better for Gen!! He wants Gen to be a better person and to know there is some good in life.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
If he has the Batman Scenario where he has to pick between a terrible practice and an innocent's death, he'll pick the terrible practice in order to save them. If talking villain, he sometimes will over-extend and lose himself in his anger and bloodlust to wipe them from existence for bad things they may have done to innocent people. He'll abandon his conduct so fast to punish someone (even humans) he thinks deserves it.

What do they desire above all else?
For humans to have a world free of vampires where they can begin to flourish again without being used as a food source or slaves.

🧍‍♂️ For Meridian to win so the worlds can be brought back for everyone.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
That he won't be able to find and stop the Sacred Ancestor (the ruler and first of all vampires) to break the cycle of vampire existence.

That Zenith will win and make some terrible conglomerate of a world. That the entire premise is a big ruse and they are all going to fail. That he will have to go back to living a life of solitude on the Frontier after creating personal relationships with people in Kenos.

What is this character's worst memory?
Being experimented on by the Sacred Ancestor when he was young. He went through a lot of terrible, rigorous experiments which were meant to make him into a perfect being, a goal the Sacred Ancestor is after. D is known at the Sacred's Ancestor's only success.

Damb... Losing his arm in the Oracle fight because it took Left Hand with it. Now he's down a helpful entity and also his mind is full of silence.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
Human torture and suffering, even more so when children are involved. His chivalry means he has a big distaste for those who hurt, steal from, or harass others, especially if these are women and children. He tolerates vampires if they aren't purposefully harming humans, but he does not want vampires to exist in general. Vampires often ask him why he fights on the human side and not the vampire side. He also has a grudge against the Sacred Ancestor; it's implied that while he hates the man, he is trying to find him to get questions answered rather than immediately jump to killing. (He'll still kill him, though.)

HELP, Silco and Sebastian. This is killing me. Silco for Silco's deranged world view and cunning. Sebastian because the dude ripped his arm off and also tortured Hayame.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
He loves small acts of kindness from humans. He treasures gifts from children no matter how small. He will accept gifts from others based on the sentimentality of it more often than not.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
He appreciates things like art, photographs, or letters when sentimentality is attached. He has little need for food, but he does like wine and a type of Frontier booze. He's also a science man and practical, so he loves equipment, or little gadgets/items which can aid him in a job or task.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
LOVE AND SELF RESPECT (no). Anything that can be a reminder of his mother, or perhaps Doris and Dan. Items associated with any PC- or NPC-related bonds of CR. Basically, he'd never ask for soft things because he tries not to form attachments, but he should have all the soft things as a keepsake.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
I would love to see him continue to struggle between the vampire-human balance of his existence. It's so good when people are kind to D because he never expects it, but I also like tackling the prejudices he gets for being a dhampir. Part of his canon story is the analysis of what makes a person a monster or not a monster; i.e. a human being the real monster, or an in-human being exceptionally kind. D is very fun when he ends up forming relationships against his will; he's so afraid of his lasting existence, and he's seen many, many, many humans grow old and die, so he's always hesitant to form strong bonds with them. I'd love to see if he will question his Meridian stance at all, or how much he'd entertain working with the people of Zenith when it comes up.

🥹 The bonds he's made now.... cute.

Working on moving him toward T4 in the future. Would love for him to use his roots in being a mercenary to do certain jobs for those in Springstar and build up rapport and prestige. Kinda like reliability and success for dirtier work (hunting, etc, not necessarily murder). Unless...?

I think he'd be well suited for curious pursuits too, like digging into cryptid things like the Below and maybe Kowloon a bit. Any place where someone could uncover secrets about Kenos history, or the timestream, or their worlds.

Character Name(s): Shez
Series: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
Shez isn’t particularly ambitious in the grand scheme of things, but he is pretty driven once he does have a goal in mind, even to the point of (mild) obsession. However, hurting or killing innocent people is a line he would be highly unlikely to cross.

What is something they treasure?
His bonds, most of all. He was alone for a long time and got by just fine, but once he joined the Kingdom army and started forming meaningful relationships with those around him, his whole outlook on life changed, to the point where his entire goal is no longer to simply survive, but to help his friends end the war and see their dreams achieved.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
His adaptability. He’s used to navigating all kinds of social circles, and being an orphan from an early age has forced him to scramble and find ways to survive on his own; fighting as a mercenary has been his main trade ever since, and his swordsmanship was entirely self-taught, so he’s quick to pick up on physical skills and do whatever jobs he must. It helps to have an easygoing personality, too.

What is this character's best memory?
His fondest memories come from his childhood, when his adoptive mother was still alive. She used to celebrate the day she (absconded with) found and adopted him much like a birthday, and baked him a homemade berry pie that he still remembers to this day. As of late October, his solo tradition of baking himself that same pie around that time has been (accidentally) changed to include his housemates.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
His friends! In Kenos, that would be Byleth (who is also his One True Rival – and fated enemy, don’t ask) and Yuri, both of which hail from his same timeline. He’s also very fond of his Dimitri as the lord whose ideals have truly won him over, and though the Dimitri in Kenos isn’t the same, Shez still tries to look out for him—from a certain distance, it’s awkward when the guy barely knows him.
Finally, there’s Arval, who is a bit of a special case. Their betrayal still hurts, and there’s much that he still needs answers for, so while his resentment is real, ultimately he’s grateful for the power and guidance they offered him, and he plainly misses that sassy noggin ghost that only he could hear.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
Threatening the safety/lives of his friends. He’s already had to kill one friend (Arval) before to save the others, and wouldn’t it just be thr worst if he were ever faced with a similar decision again…

What do they desire above all else?
Being in the Kingdom army for so long, his dearest wish is one he shares with his friends: to put an end to the war, and give Faerghus a chance to flourish under Dimitri’s rule. Maybe some people don’t get why Faerghans are so stalwart about defending their half-frozen stretch of dirt, but their dedication and love for their land is so strong that even a mercenary who doesn’t put down roots like Shez may have started to think of the Kingdom a bit as his home, too. (Shh, don’t tell anyone!)

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
In simple terms: to be meaningless. He wishes to leave his mark in the world, and fears getting caught in the undertow of history— which is incidentally what happens in the original game, where he doesn’t exist/live. On a more personal level, he fears the bonds he makes aren’t strong enough – that he isn’t good enough to support them in their various struggles, or to give helpful advice in their time of need, or even that his wanderlust will just lead them to forget all about him once they part ways – and that one day he’ll find himself alone, or rather, lonely again.

What is this character's worst memory?
Epimenides’s reveal and Arval’s following betrayal, but It’s Complicated. The episode involved having his body forcibly possessed and used as a tool to attempt to destroy their lifelong enemy: Sothis, who inhabits Byleth’s mind much like Arval did Shez’s. In the end, he had to personally cut Epimenides down as the only way to rescue his friends, and Arval’s dying words to him still haunt.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
In a nutshell, Those Who Slither in the Dark. They are personally responsible for most of the tragedies hovering over the Kingdom (and, unbeknownst to them, all of Fodlan, as well) and yet Shez is undeniably connected to them—through the powers he was given, and his (unknown) origins as an Agarthan from Shambhala.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like?
He’s canonically the gift giver, mind you! He would prefer to get things that his friends and CR would like, BUT if he’s to get anything for himself, then it would have to be practical items like new armor/weapons, a rare ingredient to cook up a tasty meal with, that kind of stuff. He’s also pretty good with his hands and I’ve been toying with the idea of him really getting into power tools from Nikea, let him dual-wield chainsaws like a completely normal person…

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward?
Since he’s already gotten a picture of his mother and Arval’s earrings from the Halloween event, he would be happy to receive more items that belong to his friends from home, as a reminder that they’re still out there. One of the Heroes Relics would work out great, especially those belonging to the Blue Lions, to name: Areadbhar, Aegis Shield, Crusher, Lance of Ruin, Lúin, Rafail Gem, Thunderbrand or Fetters of Dromi.

Alternatively, any of the items he gets from characters in exchange for his Merc Whistle would work, but especially those from the Blue Lions and recruitable units, which would be: Azure Dagger, Tactics Primer, Silver Bracelet, Shez Doll(!!), Knife and Scabbard, Portable Lamp, Metal Clasp, Wooden Training Sword, Loog and the Maiden of Wind, Warm Cloak, Rose Water, Pegasus Hair Charm, Wooden Dish, Travelogue, Fancy Handkerchief, Silver Ring, Secret Medicine, Curse-Reppeling Amulet, Amethyst Charm, Simple Fishing Rod, Sand from Rhodos Coast, Odd Charm, Dagdan Wheatstone, Animal Bone Dice, Beast Repellent or Drinking Horn. These would be simple items, though, without the magical abilities associated with them.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them?
While not a joke item, and even though he wouldn’t ask for it, I’d love for Shez to get Arval’s Shard somehow… even though he’s a Meridian. (For now?)

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc?
First and foremost, I’m mostly interested in having Shez learn about his origins, and the entire can of worms that comes with it. The following information is put together from various tidbits of canon, with some heavily implied details and a dash of headcanon to fill in the gaps where needed, but bear with me here, this game refuses to drop DLC!!

For starters, he is a different kind of human from his fellow castmates: while the other Fodlanites originate from Sothis and the Nabateans, Shez is an Agarthan, the original humankind from Fodlan who were forced to retreat and live underground for defying the Goddess. Arval, the entity Shez was once a vessel for, was actually an amnesiac alter-ego for Epimenides, an Agarthan who dedicated his life to destroying Sothis; the reason Shez can create a sword meant to slay the Goddess and has powers that specifically counter Byleth’s Sothis-given abilities is because he has Epimenides’s Core (or rather, his heart/soul) within him. Thanks to his chat with Aetos, Shez already suspects he had a soul implanted in him, and that’s just the first step: canon heavily implies he was at the very least experimented on, and at most, he may have been created rather than born. For Kenos purposes, I’m sticking with created.

Next, I’d love to have him question his loyalties and everything else he knows about himself, especially since he’s not the same kind as his friends. Is he even human? What qualifies as a human, anyway? Those Who Slither in the Dark (TWSITD, for short) are the unquestioned villains of the Fodlan games, but does that mean the entire Agarthan kind is? The (Agarthan) mother who absconded with and later adopted him was no villain, after all! And Fodlan’s current history was written from the Nabateans’ perspective, but he could maybe find out a different truth about Agartha in Kenos… And where would that leave him? Would his Nabatean-human friends be willing to give his people a chance? Would they turn their back on Shez and the rest of them for all the damage TWSITD have caused?

Would Shez potentially decide that Fodlan is beyond saving and should be made anew, thus leading to a faction change into Zenith later down the line? Break his promises and current allegiances? Who knows! But I’d love to play around with all these possibilities and see where the wind will take him!

Character Name(s): Joshua Rosfield
Series: Final Fantasy XVI
Wiki Link: Here

THE GOOD

How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

His main desire is to protect others and to save his own world, and to accomplish this, he gave everything he could of his own life and strength. When it comes to self-sacrificing, he'll always offer himself up even if he doesn't actually want to die, but if it's a choice between others getting hurt and himself, he'll always choose himself. The main line he wouldn't cross is harming the innocent and undeserving.

What is something they treasure?

He treasures his brother and his friends above all else. Possessions don't mean as much to him as human lives, and he'd do whatever it takes to protect them, at the cost of his own vitality.

What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?

His own intellect, his tenacity, his strength of will, and his independent streak.

What is this character's best memory?

Reuniting with his brother after so many years of being apart and the two of them thinking the other was dead. It was a highly emotional time, but Joshua felt a lot of bittersweet joy hugging his brother again.

Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?

Clive: His older brother and the person closest to him. Clive was always meant to serve as his first shield, and Joshua trusts him and cherishes him, no matter what tragedies have torn them apart.

Jote: His loyal attendant and a member of the Undying, a cult dedicated to worshipping the phoenix. He trusts her as well and cares for her as a friend.

Uncle Byron: His only other surviving family member outside of Clive. Joshua has always been fond of him and would likewise do anything to protect him as he would Clive.

Dion Lesage: Though they'd known each other briefly, they'd become fast friends, and Joshua nearly died in his efforts to stop Dion's rampage. Since then, he's grown fond of Dion.

THE BAD

What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?

If it meant he could save his brother, he would probably feel his principles compromised –under duress. If it also meant keeping the threat of Ultima or any similar world-destroying entities at bay, he could be coerced into acting against his morals.

What do they desire above all else?

The safety and well-being of all the people he cares about.

What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?

He's afraid of never living up to anyone's expectations, especially since he'd always been weaker than his brother. He hates that his body is frail and that he's sick all the time and can't be as powerful and strong enough to lead and to protect his people, so he tries to overcompensate in battles to his own detriment.

What is this character's worst memory?

The Night of Flames, where he'd not only witnessed his father get beheaded in front of him, then transformed into the phoenix for the first time, burning some of his own people, and had nearly been murdered by his own brother. The whole ordeal had left him deeply injured and traumatized.

Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?

Ultima: The big bad of their world, who wants to sacrifice all humans to rebirth his own people.

Anabella Rosfield: His mother, who mistreated his brother for years and then betrayed the Duchy of Rosaria, leading to his father's death and a whole other host of horrible things. Just an abhorrent person all around.

THE ET CETERA

What kinds of gifts does your character like? Books, weapons, food, extra clothes, anything practical really.

What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward? His DLC outfit, the earring he used to have that matched his brother's, local tomes, a new sword.

What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them? A hug, a soft bed, some nice oils, soaps, and shampoo.

OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc? I have none at the moment. As much as I don't mind him keeping his good-boy status, a corruption arc would be pretty interesting, although difficult with a character who has a strong moral compass like Joshua. He'd mostly devote himself to trying to do what he feels is right, but as mentioned above, he could be coerced if there was a way to save his brother.
