Because one of the goals of Kenos is to give characters unique, compelling reasons to both show loyalty to their faction and to question it, it’s helpful to get to know them better! While filling out this survey isn’t required, it’s highly recommended! How else can we effectively torment or reward your blorbo if we don’t know what they hate/love? ♥

THE GOOD
How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill their desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?
His main desire is to protect others and to save his own world, and to accomplish this, he gave everything he could of his own life and strength. When it comes to self-sacrificing, he'll always offer himself up even if he doesn't actually want to die, but if it's a choice between others getting hurt and himself, he'll always choose himself. The main line he wouldn't cross is harming the innocent and undeserving.
What is something they treasure?
He treasures his brother and his friends above all else. Possessions don't mean as much to him as human lives, and he'd do whatever it takes to protect them, at the cost of his own vitality.
What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities?
His own intellect, his tenacity, his strength of will, and his independent streak.
What is this character's best memory?
Reuniting with his brother after so many years of being apart and the two of them thinking the other was dead. It was a highly emotional time, but Joshua felt a lot of bittersweet joy hugging his brother again.
Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards?
Clive: His older brother and the person closest to him. Clive was always meant to serve as his first shield, and Joshua trusts him and cherishes him, no matter what tragedies have torn them apart.
Jote: His loyal attendant and a member of the Undying, a cult dedicated to worshipping the phoenix. He trusts her as well and cares for her as a friend.
Uncle Byron: His only other surviving family member outside of Clive. Joshua has always been fond of him and would likewise do anything to protect him as he would Clive.
Dion Lesage: Though they'd known each other briefly, they'd become fast friends, and Joshua nearly died in his efforts to stop Dion's rampage. Since then, he's grown fond of Dion.
THE BAD
What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles?
If it meant he could save his brother, he would probably feel his principles compromised –under duress. If it also meant keeping the threat of Ultima or any similar world-destroying entities at bay, he could be coerced into acting against his morals.
What do they desire above all else?
The safety and well-being of all the people he cares about.
What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities?
He's afraid of never living up to anyone's expectations, especially since he'd always been weaker than his brother. He hates that his body is frail and that he's sick all the time and can't be as powerful and strong enough to lead and to protect his people, so he tries to overcompensate in battles to his own detriment.
What is this character's worst memory?
The Night of Flames, where he'd not only witnessed his father get beheaded in front of him, then transformed into the phoenix for the first time, burning some of his own people, and had nearly been murdered by his own brother. The whole ordeal had left him deeply injured and traumatized.
Is there anyone they have highly negative feelings towards?
Ultima: The big bad of their world, who wants to sacrifice all humans to rebirth his own people.
Anabella Rosfield: His mother, who mistreated his brother for years and then betrayed the Duchy of Rosaria, leading to his father's death and a whole other host of horrible things. Just an abhorrent person all around.

What kinds of gifts does your character like? Books, weapons, food, extra clothes, anything practical really.
What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward? His DLC outfit, the earring he used to have that matched his brother's, local tomes, a new sword.
What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them? A hug, a soft bed, some nice oils, soaps, and shampoo.
OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc? I have none at the moment. As much as I don't mind him keeping his good-boy status, a corruption arc would be pretty interesting, although difficult with a character who has a strong moral compass like Joshua. He'd mostly devote himself to trying to do what he feels is right, but as mentioned above, he could be coerced if there was a way to save his brother.
