THE GOOD
How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross? It depends largely on who's relying on her to accomplish those goals. If it's someone important to her, especially someone she trusts to be wiser than her, then she'll be much more willing to step over lines she normally wouldn't (i.e., violence, kidnapping, drugging). If the beneficiaries of her goals are more vague, then she'll be much more hesitant to do things that could harm other people. She has an especially hard time moving toward goals in her own interest, instead tending to move toward them inch by inch when she isn't withdrawing from them completely; she's self-aware in this regard and struggles regularly with self-improvement. She often has a hard time even defining what her goals are, preferring to help others with their goals instead.
The hardest line she wouldn't cross would be tangible harm toward people she considers important to her. This can make things messy for her, especially in a faction game where she can't help making friends with people across factions.
What is something they treasure? Feeling relied on and/or essential to the people close to her. She pays strong attention to the duties she takes on.
Materially, she treasures the small talking box named Add she always carries under her cloak. Beyond its function as her weapon, she considers it her first and best friend.
What do they consider to be their best or most positive qualities? She considers her best qualities to be her functional strengths: how to fight, and how to clean. She trained from a young age to be able to fight any kind of spirit, and she is successful enough at it that she can objectively say that she's good at it. As for cleaning, she just likes how it makes her feel and that it's a helpful service she can do for others.
From a personality standpoint, she has a hard time seeing anything positive worth mentioning. She thinks other people perceive her as quiet, timid, wishy-washy, and unintelligent.
What is this character's best memory? Gray doesn't really have "best" memories, rarely processing the positive events in her life beyond more compromised feelings of relief (that things weren't worse) or happiness that something good happened for someone else. But her favorite memories are of normal everyday life, especially of her time with the El-Melloi classroom.
Edit: this is sad but now it's of Eustace returning after he dropped lmao
Is there anyone they have highly positive feelings towards? - Lord El-Melloi II (a.k.a. Waver Velvet). Her mentor. He rescued her from her miserable fate in her home village and she looks to him as an example of how to move forward in life. She is often critical of him and is deeply aware of his flaws, acknowledging that he's an awful mage and despised by other mages for a reason... but the way he crawls forward and perseveres no matter how much he suffers is a beacon to her. Watching him stubbornly make his way through life despite his shortcomings gives her hope that she might be able to do the same.
- Reines El-Melloi Archisorte. Gray's first and closest friend who isn't a talking box. Her sadistic personality is probably objectively terrible, but she has a soft spot for Gray and they often have tea together. Gray admires her greatly for her scathing confidence and unapologetic opportunism, and takes pride in any comments that Reines is rubbing off on her.
- Add. Her talking box friend, and her only friend for ten years. He has a rowdy pseudo-personality and often teases and jeers at her, but she genuinely considers him an irreplaceable friend and companion.
- CR-wise: A LOT OF PEOPLE... Top of mind are Eustace and Gen, and she puts them under a firm umbrella of "must protect no matter what." She also has strong affection for Kaeya, Amos, Misa, Johnny, and Matsui that trumps faction lines.
THE BAD
What could or would tempt your character to compromise their principles? Knowing that it would save someone close to her. To a lesser extent she might make a compromise to save a stranger, but in a "save 1 important person or save 100 strangers" scenario she will choose the important person.
What do they desire above all else? For the people important to her to be happy.
What are their biggest fear and/or insecurities? She has a deep fear of ghosts. She also has a hard time looking at her face, though this is slightly alleviated by the scars she acquired in Horos. She grapples hard with self-worth, and only recently has eased up on self-flagellating thoughts when she feels she's messed something up.
What is this character's worst memory? The night her body (especially her face) shifted into King Arthur's at five years old. It was a painful and traumatizing process in which she could feel every bone and muscle in her body migrating to a different configuration over the course of hours. She considers that night the death of her true self, and the beginning of a fate wholly removed from her.
Is there anyone they highly negative feelings towards? Ashiya Douman. :')
THE MATERIAL
What kinds of gifts does your character like? Delicious food and sweets. Cleaning supplies. Things that might help her fight (for her friends) better, like armor and other supportive magicky equipment. Good novels (especially detective ones), stationery, painting supplies.
What item(s) would your character be pleased to receive as a reward? Things that belong to Waver or Reines... With the coming of the notebooks, Waver's fountain pen(s) would be handy!
What item(s) would your character never ask for, but you, the player, would want to give them? A wardrobe of cute clothes because she doesn't know how to pick cute clothes for herself.
OOC, what are your goals with this character? What would you enjoy seeing them getting involved in or would enjoy as a potential character arc? WELL this feels tough to answer currently because I would like for her to lean more heavily into the PVP aspect of the game, but I also think her motivation will need to spring from what she sees of the people around her. At the moment she's just kind of waiting for information and to see how Cyrus and Yima act as leaders, so she's in a dormant state with a more personal desire to become stronger. So this is a WIP!
