ACTIVITY REWARDS
AC REWARDS
Since Kenos is a plot-heavy game based on engaging with other characters and the setting, we want to reward people that go above and beyond! Kenos does this through a Token system, which is a set of OOC rewards that translate to IC rewards. Using Tokens, you can make augment your character’s powers (or make completely new ones), get plot clues, or buy an exotic pet, to name a few things!
Tokens can be used to purchase items from the list below. If you have an idea for something you might like to use tokens on that isn’t listed or aren't sure how many tokens your idea would cost, feel free to ask! Mods may adjust the Token cost for some requests, since below are guidelines, and specific requests may fall into a different Token cost depending on the capabilities of the request.
Note, the Power Cap applies to all purchased items and powers, so they may require adjustment to fit underneath these limitations!
Finally, this system also includes a Powerlevel Discount. As a part of your application acceptance, you were assigned a Level based on the powers you described in your application. This Level entitles you to a discount of the prices above, which is as follows:
This discount is to help address power creep and try and make the stakes of the game more even. This way characters who come into the game well-equipped from their canon don’t dominate others, which results in better tension and stakes! With that in mind, mods may reduce or take away a character’s discount as they become more evenly matched with higher Levels, which you will be informed of.
In addition, this page is also used to share and submit your Notable Actions! Notable Actions sounds fancy, but it’s essentially a summary of what your character did during the month! This helps the Loremaster team by giving a good view of what characters are up to and interested in so that we can help the world be responsive to character actions. This summary can be a bulleted list or prose, and we would love it if it also included links, but it doesn’t have to. For an example of what we’re looking for, see this comment which shows the general format and what you can expect from rewards and/or this comment, which is a character played by one of the Loremasters!
Notable actions should include things that have been threaded out this month, but can also include hand-waved interactions about interacting with the world of Kenos at large, and we in fact recommend this! Is your character a regular at a bar? Did they start modeling for a clothing shop they like? Or maybe they're often seen at one of the city's libraries this month because they're deeply researching a new topic. Let us know, since this helps us get a sense of what your character's interests in the world are and can help us create more customized hooks for your character in turn!
IC, characters are asked to at least check in with their faction’s second-in-command once a month, since they’re similarly interested in what characters are getting up to. This check-in is at the character’s leisure and meant to be casual IC as well! Depending on what characters tell their respective NPC, they may get special information or missions that are relevant to what they’ve been doing IC, or the NPC may be the one to ICly grant them the boon that’s bought OOC with Tokens. For more on your faction’s NPC, you can read up on both Cetina (Meridian) or Kathova (Zenith).
If your character does not have a faction affiliation, they’re not missing out, don’t worry! They may still receive information and/or missions, but they’re more likely to come from a generic, unnamed NPC instead. In terms of boons, you’re free to figure out how it’s received or hash it out with the mods.
(We also recommend keeping your Character Survey up to date, since you never know when a mod might think to reference it, hint hint!)

Which city did your character spend most of their time in during this AC period?: Self explanatory!
What venues or residences did they spend the majority of their time in while there?: This one too!
Did your character perform any notable actions in front of NPC's in either city this month? If so, what/where?: Did they deck someone out in public? Did they steal something and get caught? Were they blackout drunk and stumbling around the city? Did they help a kid who scraped his knees when he fell? Tell us what the populous saw your character up to this month! For anything important, please include a thread link!
Did your character contribute to either city? (Resources, work, side quests, etc - this includes Kowloon): Again, feel free to give us links to any threads with your character completed, contributed, or partook in something that contributed something to one of your factions/cities.

Did Your Character Check In?

Meridian Alenroux Expedition: Team Lil Guys
Characters involved: Liem Talbott, Link, Keitaro Miura
Investigation details: In order to tackle the mission to end the monster threat once and for all, Liem has recruited two short king savants to accompany him and his military unit north into Alenroux's woods. These are their stories.
unit composition — Liem has chosen a balanced unit of soldiers who are comfortable navigating and fighting in a forest environment. The bulk of the group will be just dudes (gender neutral) with swords + either a bow or spear, but a dedicated mage or two should also be on hand for healing and support.
preparation — Expedition supplies include several days worth of light travel rations, to be supplemented with food foraged/hunted along the way; water will not be an issue, as Liem can conjure large quantities on demand. Aside from combat equipment and healing supplies, other supplies include signal whistles given to each shard-bearer and to key members of the military unit (to be used only at need; who know what the noise will attract?), materials for making marks or taking rubbings (chalk, charcoal, paper), and a few general supplies like rope, hatchets, shovels, and crowbars. You never know when you'll need 'em.
The main obstacles anticipated are hostile monsters, natural hazards/obstacles, and potentially magical interference from Aetós. Liem hopes to counter all three with a combination of vigilance (and judicious use of his detect magic spell), deadliness, and/or the use of tools and/or magic to navigate or modify the environment.
strategy — As both Link and Liem are experienced with navigating wildernesses and tracking/hunting monsters, as well as both being very familiar with Alenroux’s forests, the plan is to head north and seek signs of monster activity in the hopes that they can use the monsters' movements to work backwards to their "spawn point" and find where they're originating from. During travel periods, Liem would take advantage of having multiple woodcraft-savvy shard-bearers by going ahead to navigate and check for magical funny business with a bit more stealth and subtlety, and relying on Link to guide the main force along his route. He would be doubling back regularly to check in, or to regroup with the others in case of discovering anything troublesome.

MODERATE OBSTACLES
DIFFICULT OBSTACLE
Memory Magic: As the group ventures deeper into the woods, they suddenly find themselves plagued by a magical phenomenon that disrupts their memories. It manifests as a disorienting fog that clouds their minds, causing gaps in their recollections and confusion about their purpose and past experiences. They struggle to remember crucial details about their mission, their companions, and even their own identities.
The magical fog plays tricks on their perception, distorting their sense of time and space. They may experience déjà vu, false memories, or vivid dreams that blur the line between reality and illusion. It becomes increasingly challenging for them to distinguish between what is genuine and what is a product of the magical interference.
To overcome this obstacle, the group must actively seek ways to regain their memories. Through various means such as exploring significant locations, interacting with enchanted objects, or engaging in rituals, they can gradually unlock fragments of their lost memories. As they collect these scattered pieces of the puzzle, they must carefully piece them together, forming a coherent narrative that reveals the missing information vital to their mission. It requires their collective intelligence, deduction skills, and collaboration to reconstruct the missing parts of their memories and understand the magical phenomenon affecting them.
Once their adventuring has been threaded out, please return here with a link (or links if multiple!) to receive the Lore (tm) and overall results of the expedition!
