ACTIVITY REWARDS

AC REWARDS
Since Kenos is a plot-heavy game based on engaging with other characters and the setting, we want to reward people that go above and beyond! Kenos does this through a Token system, which is a set of OOC rewards that translate to IC rewards. Using Tokens, you can make augment your character’s powers (or make completely new ones), get plot clues, or buy an exotic pet, to name a few things!

TOKENS

Tokens are earned through going above and beyond with game participation in the following ways:

  • Completing Bonus AC (1 token)

  • Participating in an Oracle Event Log (1 token) (Max 1/month)

  • Running a player-led event (2 Tokens) These happen once every 3 months (eg. Xanadu, World's Edge)

  • Tagging new players on the TDM (1 token)
Mods may also hand out a Token or two for other work that helps the game, though this is at mod discretion. You can view your current amount of Tokens on this spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is updated weekly after activity is processed. As a note, a character can have max five tokens at a time, unless you have earned tokens by running an event. These tokens are allowed to go over the maximum as an extra thank you for helping run the game!

Tokens can be used to purchase items from the list below. If you have an idea for something you might like to use tokens on that isn’t listed or aren't sure how many tokens your idea would cost, feel free to ask! Mods may adjust the Token cost for some requests, since below are guidelines, and specific requests may fall into a different Token cost depending on the capabilities of the request.

Note, the Power Cap applies to all purchased items and powers, so they may require adjustment to fit underneath these limitations!

1 TOKEN

Swap a Spellbook Spell : Spells learned via Harmonization can be swapped out for a different spell from the same Spellbook. Note: Spells purchased via tokens cannot be swapped. (Leveled discounts do not apply)

A Gift! : You can have Cetina or Kathova gift your character something from the timestream! It will be fully at mod discretion what they gift them, and it can be anything from something useful, to something silly! Make sure to keep your survey up to date, or you might get a repeat!

Weapon/Minor Magical Item Regain : Standard weapons or items with basic magical properties. For example, a Hidden Blade, Harry Potter's Wand or Sending Stones.

2 TOKENS

Learn a Tier 1 Spellbook Spell : Learn an additional spell from the Tier 1 Spellbook (assuming you are already able to wield these spells)

Minor Power : Powers roughly equivalent to the Tier 1 spellbook in power. These are small versions of abilities that may have use in combat, but may be limited in some way. These powers are approximately up to half of the power cap or less.

Standard Mount : A non-magical creature that can be ridden

3 TOKENS

Furnished Home : Purchase a fully furnished home in your city of choice (Leveled discounts do not apply)

Start a Business : Start a PC/Player-Owned business in your city of choice (Leveled discounts do not apply). If you would like for it to be added to the maps on the wiki, just take a screenshot pointing out where you would like your business to be! Once approved, please fill out the form on the Setting Submission page so that your IC business can be easily found and referenced by other players.

Upgrade a Minor Power : Upgrade a Minor Power to a Major Power

Minor Lore Quest : A lore-associated questline, designed largely for off-Oracle month enjoyment. Minor quests do not have the degree of risk or detail required by participants. To claim a quest, file your purchase request below and then include the link as a comment under its header on the lore quest page. Once the purchase is approved, you can get started!

4 TOKENS

Learn a Tier 2 Spellbook Spell : Learn an additional spell from the Tier 2 Spellbook (assuming you are already able to wield these spells)

Magical/Flying Mount : A creature that can be ridden that either flies or is magical in some way

Major Weapon / Major Magical Item : An item with significant innate power which approaches a Major Power. For example, Mjolnir, Lasso of Truth or a Lightsaber.

Mid-value Lore Quest : A mid-value questline associated with the overarching lore of Kenos. Mid-value questlines are categorized by their need for a modest degree of planning. To claim a quest, file your purchase request below and then include the link as a comment under its header on the lore quest page. Once the purchase is approved, you can get started!

5 TOKENS

Learn a Tier 3 Spellbook Spell : Learn an additional spell from the Tier 3 Spellbook (assuming you are already able to wield these spells)

Major Power : Abilities that can go up to (but not past) the overall powercap. These can be roughly equivalent to the Tier 3+ Spellbook Spells.

High-value Lore Quest : A high-risk, high-reward questline associated with the overarching lore of Kenos. High-value questlines are categorized by their need for detailed planning, preparation and participation. To claim a quest, file your purchase request below and then include the link as a comment under its header on the lore quest page. Once the purchase is approved, you can get started!

Finally, this system also includes a Powerlevel Discount. As a part of your application acceptance, you were assigned a Level based on the powers you described in your application. This Level entitles you to a discount of the prices above, which is as follows:

  • Level 1: -2 Tokens
    • Characters with no or extremely limited abilities.
  • Level 2: -1 Token
    • Characters who have special abilities, but perhaps only a few or those that are quite limited in scope.
  • Level 3: No discount
    • Characters with a large or wide variety of abilities.
As a note, if your discount would make a request 0 Tokens (negatives will always become 0), it may become a 1 Token request depending on the request itself. We’ll let you know this when you make the request and confirm that you still wish to spend it.

This discount is to help address power creep and try and make the stakes of the game more even. This way characters who come into the game well-equipped from their canon don’t dominate others, which results in better tension and stakes! With that in mind, mods may reduce or take away a character’s discount as they become more evenly matched with higher Levels, which you will be informed of.

NOTABLE ACTIONS

In addition, this page is also used to share and submit your Notable Actions! Notable Actions sounds fancy, but it’s essentially a summary of what your character did during the month! This helps the Loremaster team by giving a good view of what characters are up to and interested in so that we can help the world be responsive to character actions. This summary can be a bulleted list or prose, and we would love it if it also included links, but it doesn’t have to. For an example of what we’re looking for, see this comment which shows the general format and what you can expect from rewards and/or this comment, which is a character played by one of the Loremasters!

Notable actions should include things that have been threaded out this month, but can also include hand-waved interactions about interacting with the world of Kenos at large, and we in fact recommend this! Is your character a regular at a bar? Did they start modeling for a clothing shop they like? Or maybe they're often seen at one of the city's libraries this month because they're deeply researching a new topic. Let us know, since this helps us get a sense of what your character's interests in the world are and can help us create more customized hooks for your character in turn!

IC, characters are asked to at least check in with their faction’s second-in-command once a month, since they’re similarly interested in what characters are getting up to. This check-in is at the character’s leisure and meant to be casual IC as well! Depending on what characters tell their respective NPC, they may get special information or missions that are relevant to what they’ve been doing IC, or the NPC may be the one to ICly grant them the boon that’s bought OOC with Tokens. For more on your faction’s NPC, you can read up on both Cetina (Meridian) or Kathova (Zenith).

If your character does not have a faction affiliation, they’re not missing out, don’t worry! They may still receive information and/or missions, but they’re more likely to come from a generic, unnamed NPC instead. In terms of boons, you’re free to figure out how it’s received or hash it out with the mods.

(We also recommend keeping your Character Survey up to date, since you never know when a mod might think to reference it, hint hint!)

FORM

Notable Actions
A summary of what your character was up to this month! This can be prose, a bulleted list, however you want to do it. It's truly just to let mods know what your character got up to this month.

Specific Actions
Which city did your character spend most of their time in during this AC period?: Self explanatory!
What venues or residences did they spend the majority of their time in while there?: This one too!
Did your character perform any notable actions in front of NPC's in either city this month? If so, what/where?: Did they deck someone out in public? Did they steal something and get caught? Were they blackout drunk and stumbling around the city? Did they help a kid who scraped his knees when he fell? Tell us what the populous saw your character up to this month! For anything important, please include a thread link!
Did your character contribute to either city? (Resources, work, side quests, etc - this includes Kowloon): Again, feel free to give us links to any threads with your character completed, contributed, or partook in something that contributed something to one of your factions/cities.
What is their current discord level (at the time of their check-in)?: If you'd like to include a brief blurb about whether this has increased or decreased from last month and how, that's a bonus but not required.

Did Your Character Check In?
With either Cetina or Kathova, if applicable. A simple yes or no is all we need, but if you want to add a detail like "they would have, but they were dead half of the month", that's fine.

Token Purchase (Delete this section if you are not using tokens this month)
Purchasing: What are you purchasing
Cost: How many tokens does this cost? Remember to include your Powerlevel discount if applicable!
Description: If applicable, a full description of your purchase including parameters, limitations, etc. Please see examples for how to describe these best!

Notes: Anything additional to tell the mods?

Token Requests and Notable Actions are processed on the first week of the month. If you purchased a lore quest, a gift, or a power, we'll let you know if it's approved/what your character received!

For examples of what these rewards can look like, see below!
erbe: Premium creamy egg pudding (020)

APRIL 2023

[personal profile] erbe 2023-04-28 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Notable Actions
✧ Basically became a guardian for Lucien as they are neighbors
✧ Started networking in an attempt to slowly build allies, or at least people who are indebted to her
✧ Rin was approached by Kathova to assist with Alenroux counter measures. Rin started by planting a surveillance device on Dimitri, and followed up by making a poison to impede the soldiers on the frontline.
✧ Tohsaka has been to a certain café in Springstar twice now. Once with Dimitri, and then again with Gray where she fulfills her promise to Mordred to provide the girl wearing that same face an antidote to the aforementioned poison.
✧ Rin has been working on trying to find a magical counter to the blight with Sieglinde, which results into her meeting Sebastian quite often in passing as well.
While Rin offers to babysit Sieglinde for Sebastian occasionally, that coincidentally turns into Rin and Lucien crashing at Sebastian's place when Yima's manor suffers damage.
✧ Rin then participates in the effort to save as many people as possible from the damage the uncontrolled Blight has caused.

Which city (venues or residences) did your character spend most of their time in during this AC period?:
Rin spent most her time in Highstorm this month. A majority of time spent was either at the Antiques and Baubles Market looking for gemstones to purchase, or at The Tomes following a conversation she had with Byleth about the mysterious headache-inducing pages. Rin's focus in that study would be any type of Alchemy, Necromancy, as well as interest in Sefirot/Tree of Life connections.

Did your character perform any notable actions in front of NPC's in either city this month? If so, what/where?:
The commotion in the market linked above would probably count. However she was probably also kicked out of The Tomes once for bickering with Dark over a book, and since her cauldron fuckery (see above) was outside they probably saw her with that.

Did your character contribute to either city? (Resources, work, side quests, etc - this includes Kowloon):
Yes! After dealing with her end of the Alenroux counter operations she participated in April's second half by helping survivors of the damage the blight has been causing all over the city.

Did Your Character Check In? What was their level of discord?
Yes, and after the April Pt. 2 event she'll probably be discord tier 1 and looking a year or two older.

Token Purchase
Purchasing: The pendant from her father
Cost: 5
Description: "A pendant passed down in the Tohsaka family. The highest possible class of jewel, endowed with magical energy poured into it for over a decade." Basically like a power-bank of magical energy in fancy necklace form.

Notes:
Despite Rin offering to be a consultant she was never contacted for a follow up, so all of her study has been independent and she's been uninvolved with the greater investigation into the pages.
