ACTIVITY REWARDS
AC REWARDS
Since Kenos is a plot-heavy game based on engaging with other characters and the setting, we want to reward people that go above and beyond! Kenos does this through a Token system, which is a set of OOC rewards that translate to IC rewards. Using Tokens, you can make augment your character’s powers (or make completely new ones), get plot clues, or buy an exotic pet, to name a few things!
Tokens can be used to purchase items from the list below. If you have an idea for something you might like to use tokens on that isn’t listed or aren't sure how many tokens your idea would cost, feel free to ask! Mods may adjust the Token cost for some requests, since below are guidelines, and specific requests may fall into a different Token cost depending on the capabilities of the request.
Note, the Power Cap applies to all purchased items and powers, so they may require adjustment to fit underneath these limitations!
Finally, this system also includes a Powerlevel Discount. As a part of your application acceptance, you were assigned a Level based on the powers you described in your application. This Level entitles you to a discount of the prices above, which is as follows:
This discount is to help address power creep and try and make the stakes of the game more even. This way characters who come into the game well-equipped from their canon don’t dominate others, which results in better tension and stakes! With that in mind, mods may reduce or take away a character’s discount as they become more evenly matched with higher Levels, which you will be informed of.
In addition, this page is also used to share and submit your Notable Actions! Notable Actions sounds fancy, but it’s essentially a summary of what your character did during the month! This helps the Loremaster team by giving a good view of what characters are up to and interested in so that we can help the world be responsive to character actions. This summary can be a bulleted list or prose, and we would love it if it also included links, but it doesn’t have to. For an example of what we’re looking for, see this comment which shows the general format and what you can expect from rewards and/or this comment, which is a character played by one of the Loremasters!
Notable actions should include things that have been threaded out this month, but can also include hand-waved interactions about interacting with the world of Kenos at large, and we in fact recommend this! Is your character a regular at a bar? Did they start modeling for a clothing shop they like? Or maybe they're often seen at one of the city's libraries this month because they're deeply researching a new topic. Let us know, since this helps us get a sense of what your character's interests in the world are and can help us create more customized hooks for your character in turn!
IC, characters are asked to at least check in with their faction’s second-in-command once a month, since they’re similarly interested in what characters are getting up to. This check-in is at the character’s leisure and meant to be casual IC as well! Depending on what characters tell their respective NPC, they may get special information or missions that are relevant to what they’ve been doing IC, or the NPC may be the one to ICly grant them the boon that’s bought OOC with Tokens. For more on your faction’s NPC, you can read up on both Cetina (Meridian) or Kathova (Zenith).
If your character does not have a faction affiliation, they’re not missing out, don’t worry! They may still receive information and/or missions, but they’re more likely to come from a generic, unnamed NPC instead. In terms of boons, you’re free to figure out how it’s received or hash it out with the mods.
(We also recommend keeping your Character Survey up to date, since you never know when a mod might think to reference it, hint hint!)

April 2023
Which city did your character spend most of their time in during this AC period?: Early in the month, Link was still helping out the Meridian forces in Alenroux, including assistance with Liem's scouting party. Once stuff started to get back in the cities, however, he left and has not gone back since. Link spent the majority of his time after that in Springstar assisting with the Blight problem, although he did spend one day in Highstorm to check on locals that he's become acquainted with in the course of all his odd jobs.
What venues or residences did they spend the majority of their time in while there?: He spent almost every day out in the city, helping to evacuate people and deal with Blight-related and time pocket-related issues. Aside from the week he spent regenerating following a dissipation inside a time pocket, and a handful of days of rest (that he took very reluctantly), he was extremely active with the rescue and relief efforts for the entire month.
Did your character perform any notable actions in front of NPC's in either city this month? If so, what/where?: Not specific NPCs, but more like the city in general? See above re: being heavily involved in relief efforts. He would prioritize neighborhoods in the areas where he finds work to do in Springstar, so the people there might be starting to recognize him as that one exceptionally helpful and reliable Shard-Bearer.
Did your character contribute to either city? (Resources, work, side quests, etc - this includes Kowloon): Yeeees. TBH you could say that's literally everything he did this month falls under contributing to Springstar. He really wants to get home.
What is their current discord level (at the time of their check-in)?: Between his frequent trips back and forth to Highstorm and his dissipation, Link is at tier 2 discord now. 👀
Did Your Character Check In? Yes — shortly after his regeneration, and in an effort to ask Cetina what areas needed the most help and what most needed to get done.
Token Purchase
Purchasing: The Master Sword
Cost: Major Item, so 2 tokens (four, minus the two token discount Link gets for being a Tier 1 character)
Description: It's basically the MacGuffin from the Legend of Zelda series and has a lot of assorted special properties to it, so I'll try to keep this brief and not let it turn into a lore dump. here is a wiki link if you'd like the full details!
~ swordddd!!: The Master Sword is, well, a sword, first and foremost. It is a single-handed sword with a long blade made from polished white metal. The hilt and grip are made from a bluish-purple metal and are adorned with gold and green decorations. The blade is double-edged. Even if someone is completely ignorant to what the sword is and what it can do, it would stand out to a casual observer as a beautiful and well-made piece of weaponry. For such a light-weight weapon (or, seemingly so when in Link's hand, see below), it is highly durable and cannot be broken or dulled by normal wear and tear.
~ High Effectiveness Against "Evil" Magic & Opponents: What sets the Master Sword apart from other weaponry is its divine origins. The sword was originally crafted thousands of years ago by a goddess and was further strengthened and tempered over and over, across many millennia, to be exceptionally deadly against evil magic and evil creatures. This applies not only to beings who are "evil," but "evil" magic itself, including people, creatures, and objects that are imbued with evil or being mind-controlled by evil forces. The sword has the power to shatter magic barriers and break curses on its targets when a strike lands.
A person "tainted" by evil cannot touch the sword without it causing pain/discomfort. When in the presence of something that is especially soaked in evil energy, the blade will start to shine and glow a soft blue-white light.
However, the sword's sacred power is not infinite — if used heavily in too short of a span of time, its power will be used up and some time will need to pass for it to "recover." For Kenos... let's say this would translate to a day's worth of battles needing a day of rest thereafter for the sword to fully recover. (But let me know if that doesn't work!) When the sword is in "rest" mode, it becomes as heavy and unusable for Link as it does for the average person who might try to pick it up.
I would have a permission post for it if we stick to it being effective against "evil", since that's a subjective thing anyway. I'd let other players tell me whether their characters fall under the dark magic/"evil" umbrella. (please ignore the original paragraph I had here about the sword being anti-Zenith; I decided I didn't like that idea even if you let it work that way. This is much more interesting imo!)
~ Sword Beam: While it still has power in its reserves, and if Link himself is fully rested and in peak physical condition, the sword can be swung in a way that emits a beam of energy in the direction of the slash. This attack has the same divine/holy attribute as the sword itself. It can travel approximately twenty feet (~7 m) before the energy loses its density and the attack dissipates. This long-ranged attack cannot be used if Link is injured or tired, since the sword draws on Link's own divine power in order to form the energy that goes into the attack.
~ Sapience: The Master Sword possesses a certain degree of "intelligence" to it that limits who can use it and a handful of other things. First, it can only be wielded by the goddess' Chosen Hero — for Kenos purposes, that means Link. Anyone else who tries to use it will find it to be much, much heavier than it looks and difficult to wield, but not impossible to touch or carry. This restrictive "ownership" feature arises partially from the fact that the sword itself has a limited level of consciousness and intelligence, thanks to an AI-like being embodied within it. The Master Sword chooses its owner, and being able to draw the sword from its resting place and wield it effectively is a sign that someone is the Goddess's Chosen Hero. In extremely rare circumstances, the sword can "talk" to others when necessary to relay important information, but this puts a strain on its power and is only done in dire circumstances.
Notes: Since this is a very significant regain for Link, I'm okay with this ICly constituting his reward for the month! He has to have some IC justification for where he got the sword, so, it being a reward from Cetina/Cyrus makes sense to me. Also I am done editing now, sorry for that, lmao
