HARMONIZATION TRACKER
HARMONIZATION TRACKER
As explained on the relevant info page, Harmonization is the process by which characters grow closer (or more distant!) from the core energies driving the faction they have chosen to follow. This is an intentional process, save for extenuating circumstances that may force them to one extreme or the other, but these will always be made clear.
This page is for tracking your character’s Harmonization Tier, as well as tracking the relevant spells from spellbooks that you choose to take.
For all Tier changes, we’re simply looking for a summary complemented by links to threads For Tiers 2+ as a show of how your character is developing, like notable actions for AC. In this case, it's specifically pertinent to your character's growth and how they're progressing through their arc in-game. A write-up detailing development and how their actions string together to enforce their motive/alignment with their respective faction is what we're looking for. Talk about your character and how they're getting better/worse! This should be fun, not a chore, and we’re not looking for perfection so much as understanding where your character is in their arc.
However, if we notice that a significant amount of your explanation is not supported by threads, we may reject the application. Handwaving small interactions is always fine, but handwaving your development to reach a higher Tier is not!
An exception to the above is your initial Harmonization to Tier 1. You just got to the game, so nothing to explain yet!
But still, for a little extra direction, here are some very general criteria for how characters harmonize further (hopefully de-harmonizing is a little more obvious). These are just guidelines, and your character may hit these earlier or later! Or not at all! Higher Tiers are not something that every character is expected to achieve, so keep your character's dedication to their faction in mind as you move up. With Tier 3 and higher, they should have no doubts about their loyalty, for example!
Tier 1 (Tier One spellbook here): The character accepts the basics of their faction’s goal and promise. They don’t necessarily have to fully believe in it and can have many doubts, but they should definitely be inclined to follow their chosen faction over the other. This is generally reached via the introduction scenarios into the game or after one month.
Tier 2 (Tier Two spellbook here): The character is feeling more confident about their chosen faction. While they can still have doubts, most have been put to rest, and a sense of belonging is beginning to grow in them. At this Tier, a character is willing to take risks to further their faction’s goals and tends to feel a fondness for their faction over the other - whether this is due to connections to their allies, leadership, or more personal motivations. This is expected to take around three months.
Tier 3 (Tier Three spellbook here): The character is committed to achieving the goals of their faction and is loyal to it in some way. Their motivations for following their faction should be solidified and easily identifiable, whether their loyalties are to the cause, their allies, or perceived personal gain. This also usually means they have taken great risks to help their faction, such as (but absolutely not limited to) standing against the other faction in combat, being a key figure in claiming an Oracle, or taking part in high-stakes social interactions. They feel what they're doing is right and should be able to demonstrate this through action in some way. This is expected to take between 5-6 months.
Tier 4: The character is wholly devoted to the goals of their faction that to not follow it seems insane. At this Tier, their devotion is fanatical and may have the character come off as not fully having a grip on their own sanity or certainly an extremist in making sure their faction is victorious. Tier 4 comes with additional respect among your faction, a new power crafted by the mods to work specifically for your character that reflects the faction's energies itself, and a special lore-based mission to impact the world of Kenos at large. Few characters are expected to reach this level, and this is expected to take more than 6 months at a minimum to achieve.
Each Harmonization Tier also includes a maximum number of spells that a character can learn as a part of the process of harmonizing. These spells are selected as a part of your Harmonization application and cannot be changed without spending tokens to do so. Tokens can also be spent to learn additional spells, but these additional spells cannot be swapped out like the freebies can.
If you have a question about a specific spell, please ask those here! These spells all come from Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition and therefore may not map totally evenly to this style of RP, but it’s hard to know until someone wants to use them! Clarifications will also be added to the spellbook once asked.
IC, these spells are taught to a character by a magical tutor (of which there are plenty, so feel free to make up an NPC for this purpose) or by another player character who knows the same spell. The magical energy needed to power these spells comes from the innate natural force that they’re harmonizing with, hence why each Tier has its own book. Your character is acting as a conduit to shape that force into something new, and simply won’t be a big enough channel if their Harmonization level is too low.

T1
Faction: Meridian
Did your character keep their Sunbeam bead? Set eventually decided to accept the iliachtida, despite his Communion with Yima leading to a vow that - should he fail Meridian, he would join her. He harmonized in December, during the festival. RIP Cyrus, this is your new ally.
New Tier: 1
Justification: Above all else, Set despairs the loss of his son, Anubis and wishes only to return to a life where he and his child can live happily together. Be that his driving desire, he cannot do so without keeping the vow he'd made to Anubis - to pay penance to the people of Egypt for his sins, accept his punishments, suffer their agonies and return only once he has righted the flow of the afterlife. To be dissuaded from such a goal would be the death of what little ego he has left, so he has elected to continue to maintain his promise, by joining Meridian's side and doing whatever it takes to return his world to its rightful existence.
Truthfully, he trusts neither side, finding that they already contort their might to present themselves as the best choice by playing towards sentiment using abilities he does not yet understand. However, without strength and standing, he will be powerless and unable to choose his path freely.
Spellbook Spells: Mold Earth, Featherfall & Prestidigitation
i guess he gets +1 from the beyond trip as well, so he'll go with +1 Druidcraft, to fit with the theme of the little shrine he finds there :>

T2 IT'S TIME
Faction: Meridian
New Tier: T2
Justification: Like a few others, Set is a very atypical Meridian. While not driven primarily by the light (hope), he is driven by pragmatism and a uniquely dark sense of self that supports the light by becoming the long, dark shadow that must exist for it to have any meaning. Even within Meridian, there must be those willing to do dark deeds in the name of victory and progress, and Set is no stranger to either.
Early in-game, he spoke with the Archangel about salvation and stated that he was no beacon of deliverance, but one of slaughter, ultimately refusing the Archangel's offer of salvation from his despair because he needed to fulfill his promise. The promise is, quite literally, the core value that ties him to Meridian, flimsy as it is. He interrogated Rosaria, Liem, Matsui and Silco about their convictions, seeking to understand what lead them all to their decisions (or lack of decision), coming to the conclusion through this that it was not the side that mattered, but simply the strength of will. Also, Silco laid out his grand plan to burn it all and that threatens Set's ability to keep his promise to Anubis, so.
Despite his conversations with the people of Kenos, when Yima came to Commune with her, he vowed to her that it is in his nature to war. Even with himself, as he seeks atonement through Meridiana and knowledge above all else. The promises made by Meridian and Zenith cannot both be true, and he fixates on pursuit of information above all else. Because Springstar has familiarity in both religious and military structure, there is comfort in falling in among them in pursuit of his own goals. This was confirmed through a conversation with Hayame, where he indicated that the nature of (divine) reincarnation further ties him to Meridian's goals.
As a beacon of war and strife, Set also believes in a, um, trickle-down-theory of might and war. If he benefits, then so will Meridian. His conversation with Sebastian (NSFW??) further solidified Set's belief in the immutability of his fate and existence. Zenith may be the correct choice for him, but he will always attempt to oppose that order in and of itself. He's also, lbh, kinda' predisposed to thinking ill of the fallability of mortals (x, x) and thinks Zenith have no ability nor right to create a new world. Not when his world was actually meant to exist.
While not fanatically loyal, Cyrus's trust(?) in his pragmatic and oft-chaotic methods has won the Tribune a measure of acceptance, as it further gave him the flexibility to act within his nature (a more Zenith-aligned nature) on Meridian's behalf. And the first thing he did, following that "permission" was to go ham during the Manon debates: skipping the debate in favor of simply striking a deal, and when that was unfavorable compared to neutrality, he struck a deal with Silco to assist him with attempts extend the Meridian v. Zenith battles - giving himself more time to pursue power on Meridian's behalf and find more ways to damage, thwart and hinder Zenith. Sneaky bastard. His justification of his chaotic, tricky acts to Hayame was, undoubtedly and finally a concrete: because it is for Meridian, too.
Lastly, he's also begun assisting Meridian ("himself", he says) by treating his interactions with Zenith as information-gathering sessions to discern their natures, vulnerabilities and convictions (x, x, x, x, x ), especially because he enjoys relationships (ergo access) with some of the higher-tier Zenith now.
tl;dr Set firmly believes that by aligning himself with Meridian, he will serve his promise to Anubis to atone, by becoming the darkness that must exist for Meridian's light to shine. While not fanatically loyal to a leader or the establishment, he is devoted to his own growing corruption and dark divinity and intends to use it on behalf of those he does not deserve to work with, for he will always war with all things - including his own heart!
Spellbook Spells: Clairvoyance, Plant Growth.
I'm also using one (1) AC token to swap T1 Prestidigitation to Illusory Script, and would like to know if for his third T2 Spell, if I could take a unique variation of Enhance Ability (Domain Blessing)? I'll spend up to the three (3) AC tokens he has left to acquire it, if need be!
APPROVED (with question)
2) Swapping out Prestidigitation -> Illusory Script is approved and I'll note it in the token log
3) For Enhance Ability! The reason I didn't include this spell in the spellbook is largely because it's very dnd in terms of it increasing a stat rather than being easily mappable to our form of RP. Can you give examples for how you would map out each of the blessings for a DWRP setting before I approve it? On its face this should be fine, but I just want to make sure everything maps well!

Enhance Ability by nature focuses on advantages to a numerical stat, however to map it into the more social atmosphere of DWRP/Kenos and make it accessible to everyone, it's just a matter of applying it to a more general "sense" of the stat and how it affects innate ability. EA is pretty much an out-of-combat spell, too! Hurrah!
The general flavor text would literally be, like:
We did a fun thing in Agoge that had us rate our character's general proficiencies which could be translated to a 6Stat chart if you wanted me to generate that as a textarea for this!
For Set, his flavoring for Enhance Ability would be Divine/Domain Blessing, since has six key domains that break down into the six stats: War (Strength), Desert (Dexterity), Foreigners (Charisma), Storms (Constitution), Chaos (Wisdom) and his Syncretic nature which is just historical jargon for 'assimilation of knowledge/faith into one' (Intelligence).

+1 T2 Spell
T3 (for the end of the month, just filing ahead of time)
Faction: Meridian
New Tier: Tier 3
Justification: Set entered T2 with the belief that his actions were not only for his own empowerment, but would benefit Meridian in the long run. In achieving T3, he remains staunchly invested in his own empowerment, yet has also done much to prove his committment to and support of Meridian's goal and disavowment of Zenith(-under-Yima's-leadership). In between his T2 and T3 Harmonizations, he's done the following!
sorry for all the linksProven his loyalty to & support of Meridian.
Experienced deeper disapproval & disenfranchisement toward Zenith.
Lead or participated in several key efforts & actions.
Set has become hostile to the idea of a Yima-lead-Zenith. And even though he does care for some of the Shard-bearers, he counts many of them as losses that can be abandoned if they do not rise to the occasion independent of their leader (ex-leader).
The vision given to him by the Tree of Life, depicting Yima embracing Osiris, was enough to lead him to put some distance between himself and his potential to skip town. Some of the current Zenite Shard-bearers might also kick his ass back to Meridian, still. Altogether, Set approaches T3 as the embodiment of Meridian not as a shining light, but with the desire to be the shade under which those who cannot place their trust, faith or pragmatism into Meridian itself. Also, he's kind of ensured he can't escape to Zenith, after that whole "I shot
the sheriffYima" situation.Spellbook Spells: Awaken, Geas
