LORE QUESTS
The world of Kenos has many mysteries to explore, and not all of them are directly tied to the ongoing plot of Meridian and Zenith struggling against each other to claim the Oracles. This page is for compiling the token-purchased lore-related quests for the game.
Lore quests are multi-part questlines that focus on uncovering a greater idea of what is going on behind the scenes, peering behind the curtain and uncovering information that might make or break how a character relates to the world, factions and their own goals or dreams. To be clear, these are all separate from Side Quests, demand a higher level of participation and planning, and are posted as areas get added and/or Loremasters get ideas for quests.
( There is a section for players to submit key interests their characters would have, for Loremasters to take into account while crafting future lore quests! )
While uncovering the lore is it own reward, sometimes players may gain other rewards based on their participation in lore quests; not every lore quest you undertake has universally good outcome, but every quest will affect the swing of relationships between the cities and factions. We are considering allowing players to pool their AC tokens in the future, but currently this practice is not allowed.
OOC, you will spend the correct number of tokens in your AC reward, then comment under a side quest to “claim” it by noting all participating characters. Players will receive additional details and information once the claim is made. After the thread/log/etc. for the mission is complete, you’ll return to the comment and turn it in. Loremasters will then tell you the further rewards + outcomes. As a note, you can only have one active lore quest per character at a time. If you're expecting upcoming time constraints, please consider your purchase, as dropping from the quest may cause the party to have to redo it.
Unless noted, the lorequests are bound to a single purchaser ( and their entourage ). Once purchased, the questline is tethered to the purchaser, but participants can change as the questline develops.
UPDATE 01/30/24: If unsure whether a personal goal is something you can simply play out yourself, or if it would qualify as a Lore Quest/AC Reward, the key question we use to assess for this is: will it affect the world of Kenos or multiple other player characters as the result of my character's actions? If the answer is "yes", we would consider that something you need to use tokens for, develop over time via threads/reporting on your Notable Actions, or working together with mods to achieve! If the answer is "no", you have every right to craft your own narrative for your character.
So, without further ado, get to questing!

THE HYPOGEUM
Cetina mentions that the hypogeum beneath the Coliseum has become deeply oppressive for fighters, and invites Meridian-aligned Shardbearers to take a look at maintaining such an important aspect of Meridian culture. She suggests pairing with another Shardbearer that they trust "to anchor them". Entering the hypogeum means delving into a memory that the Bearer must navigate, survive, or potentially destroy with a partner at their side.POTENTIAL REWARDS

The hypogeum is situated beneath the main arena of Springstar's Coliseum, right below the central area where their battles and events take place, as well as the stands where the audience sits! Used as a backstage area for performers, gladiators, and animals, as well as a storage space for props, equipment, the area is a complex network of underground passages and chambers. It is organized into several levels, with a system of pulleys, elevators, and trapdoors to facilitate the movement of people, animals, and scenery onto the arena floor.
Eustace and Gray are given permission to delve below into the belly of the famed location and the secrets to its surprises and spectacles. Upon entering through one of the various rooms, corridors, and staircases situated within, they will be struck with the oppressive sensation of Meridian energy become abundant and intense. They have been asked to handle the overabundance of their Faction's energy by whatever means necessary, but they request the Shard-bearers not destroy any part of the Coliseum or hypogeum. That would be frowned upon!
Upon tackling the job, either Eustace and/or Gray ( dealer's choice! ) will soon find the abundance of energy manifests a core memory of theirs within the hypogeum. The memory is unsettlingly real, focused on some act of violence, pain or performance of theirs that begins to breathe life into the mechanisms of the hypogeum. They must navigate the memory and "end" it, before Meridian's energy makes the memory so real that it becomes the next stage upon which unwitting fighters will compete!
Please choose a memory ( or memories! ) and thread out how the two will tackle their goal and the complication that has arisen during the task. Will they rewrite the memory? Play it out together? Convince the fighters to aid them? This is a process that is entirely up to you to design, with no "correct answer" or "wrong answer". New avenues will open before you, no matter what. When done, submit your fun to this comment for results!

They did leave a couple of accidental bullet holes behind but Eustace will pay for those to get fixed. :smiling_face_with_tear:

The damage caused by bullet holes will be billed to them — kidding! Just kidding! ( EDIT: or is she.................... ? )
Natalia explains that the energy of Meridian is innate to Kenos, just as the energy of Zenith is. The energies are stronger on each island and unchecked, they sometimes enter a state of Discord similar to that which Shard-bearers undergo. By engaging with the energy and composing it into a memory that they then controlled to a conclusion, they were able to release the excess energy back into Springstar's natural abundance. She informs the two that in the coming days, they both should begin to feel a deeper connection to Meridian, as their efforts have tethered them to it.
They will receive a blessing that changes them in a small ways: they are able to purify Discord among their fellow Meridians ( and be purified BY Meris ) as easily as if they were Zenites. They will find this blessing persists at this level as long as they spend a majority of their time in Springstar, and it diminishes if they spend excessive time in Highstorm, Alenroux, the Below, the Beyond or any other non-Springstar environment.
