SIDE QUESTS
SIDE QUESTS
The world of Kenos has many mysteries to explore, and not all of them are directly tied to the ongoing plot of Meridian and Zenith struggling against each other to claim the Oracles. This page is for compiling what could effectively be called side content for the game, but these are all chances to explore the world of Kenos and have some unique opportunities to discover hidden lands and secrets, gain boons or treasure, or just deepen your CR! To be clear, these are all separate from Lore Quests and are posted as areas get added and/or Loremasters get ideas for quests.
Because these quests aren’t part of the overarching plot, they’re effectively “missions” that characters can choose to undertake and the exact way the mission plays out is up to you! Consider these more prompts for threads or open logs, but with a bonus of being able to receive something IC for the effort. For an example of how this might work, see here (at least until we get some side quests done). Sometimes this may be a magical item, or other times it might be a curse! Not every side quest you undertake has universally good outcomes, after all. Any quests with significant risk will be clear about that risk!
OOC, you’ll comment under a side quest to “claim” it by noting all participating characters, then once your thread/log/etc. for this mission is complete, you’ll return here to turn it in. Loremasters will then tell you the further rewards + outcomes. As a note, you can only have one active side quest per character at a time. If you decide that you don’t want to do the quest anymore, just delete your comment. If you run into an issue with completing it (such as the other party dropping), just get in touch with the mods and we’ll work it out with you.

Whoever comes by (or both of them), will receive a neutral answer first as the owner says that whatever they're talking about, they don't know about that. However... through Communion, they'll be warned. They do have the information they're looking for. But they don't recommend "getting involved in that shit" and to just keep their head down and forget they ever heard about it.
Which is to say, even partial information about this subject is considered a high-level mission and can include big changes to the character even if it's completed successfully. While the (general) nature of the potential changes will be specified as a part of the quest, the specifics will be vague until the quest is complete/if the consequences are received, and they will not be opt-out at that point (but we can always discuss tweaking them to make them something fun to rp with). If it's overall not something you're interested in OOC, then they'll need to reject the quest or not hear about it in the first place.

The letter is written in Illusory Script and will only be readable to Cassian, Jod, and any Tier 3 (or higher) characters. The letter looks like it was part of a correspondence based on how it’s phrased, but this is the only portion that they get.
“I thought so too. I need one of the more powerful ones this time. They’re the ones more likely to do well with the process. I’ve enclosed a list, so kill your choice and bring the Shard to the usual drop in the box outside of Starwatcher’s Spire. You can pass this along if you want, but the failure carries on to them, you understand. I’ll be watching.”
And included in the same hand is a list of names that should be very familiar: Dark Schneider, Sebastian Michaelis, Set, Quetzalcoatl, Gray, Mordred, Rin Tohsaka, Byleth Eisner, Diluc Ragnvindr, Kaeya Alberich, Childe, Zhongli, Rosaria, Han Sooyoung, Kim Dokja, Liem Talbott, Voryn Dagoth, Amos Burton, Jonathan Sims, Vash (the Stampede).
OOC, Cassian and John will need to dissipate one of the characters on this list and indeed drop off their Shard in the indicated location. At that point, their part of the deal will be considered complete! For the person they select, they will have their Shard given to everyone's favorite NPC, Aetós, for a happy fun time (no). More seriously, their portion of this will include learning some Lore (tm) as well as effects that will linger, but are up to player choice whether they're temporary or permanent.
