CHARACTER DEATHS
CHARACTER DEATHS

When a character's body suffers fatal damage, they dissipate around their Shards - but as long as the Shards themselves are not destroyed, a Shard-Bearer will return to life. In order for this regenerative process to take place, however, Shards must be brought to the Tree of Life - a place to which all Bearers are innately connected. (This knowledge is well-known by all Bearers in both Highstorm and Springstar, and thus you can handwave how your character came about the details.)
A Bearer's Shard must be placed near the Tree's base; it will slowly sink into the earth until buried. Over the course of the next 5-7 days (your OOC choosing), a cocoon of moss, roots, and soil will begin to emerge from the ground - and as long as the Shard held within is not disturbed, the Bearer will regenerate and revive from within. Once the process is complete, they will 'hatch' from their cocoon like a newborn birdling - with or without outside assistance. They will find themselves weak and generally unwell for the next few days; the time of their recovery is up to you. Whether they bear scars or permanent disfiguration as a result of damage suffered prior to dissipation is up to you.
Should your character die, please fill out the form below to report this to the Loremasters! You may receive some Interesting Information about the journey your character takes while their bodies are coming back into being...
Please note: If your character dies under circumstances that would see their Shard with an enemy who does not intend to let them revive at the Tree or dies in a manner where their Shard is not retrieved by an ally who will bring them there, please reach out to a Loremaster! We can assist you in making sure they aren't stuck in limbo.

As he rests and regrows, he dreams, though this dream certainly feels more real than the disjointed flashes that dreaming feels like. In his dreams, he exists, and he is not Dokja, he is a shard bearer, but not himself. He will not remember the name, but he knows his name is different. In his dream, he lives, he fights for Oracles, though if he tries to recall, he will not be able to remember the finer details. Name, abilities, what faction, it all seems to be glazed through a haze — as with many dreams, something that's easily accepted, even though recollection will point out the oddity — and it seems to speed up and slow down through his dream.
The conclusion, however, is crystal clear, and Dokja will be able to remember it with sharp clarity. His shard is ripped from his chest, it's painful, and the person who pulled it free — the details around them seem hazy, though Dokja will be able to recall a silver hand that holds his dream self's shard — steps far enough away that his body goes still, and rigid. He cannot move, he cannot breathe, but he cannot die. Stuck, trapped. He cannot close his eyes, and he cannot scream, either now, or in horror, when his shard is held before something bright — a portal.
Before his dream fades, the figure will say: "Now, let us see what potential you have been hiding…" and though the voice is… familiar, it is distorted, in memory, barely audible over the sound of his own heart thudding in his ears. The last thing he sees, is his shard being shoved into the light — and all he knows is pain.
When Dokja comes to, he’ll find himself encased in a cocoon. The cocoon is filled with a familiar sap, just up to Dokja’s neck. The thin material of the cocoon isn’t difficult to break through, but it still feels like a great effort because of how weak he feels. It’s as if he’s been doing days of strenuous activity, and the feeling will linger along with general body aches and chills for the next few days as his body demands rest and recovery.
