Notable Actions

  • Woke up in his gooey sarcophagus, which he didn't enjoy very much.
  • Caught up with some previous CR while hanging out in Yima's basement and purging the Kenoma from his system. Most notable: checked in with Gray, who he'd been worried about for reasons he can't quite remember; and spoke with Amos and Misa to deal with the emotional aftermath of events that happened just before their awakening.
  • Spoke to Yima, who gave him Reiji's shard. Though he's still too wary of her to commit himself to Zenith (or align himself with anyone, really), he was thoroughly shaken by the "gift."
  • Explored his new isekai setting a bit after leaving Yima's basement.
  • Participated in the (attempted) rescue of newcomers from the Tree of Life, which went great! Namely, ended up caught in a very emotional clash with the dryad alongside Amos, Misa and Kaeya, where he ended up surrendering a toe. Followed by a second round, where he ended up sacrificing another toe while trapped with Sebastian and Morgan.
  • Ends up emerging from the whole debacle with Tier 2 Discord and a small handful of other effects. Wonderful!

Did Your Character Check In?
No, because he hasn't aligned himself with a faction.

Token Purchase
Purchasing: Major power
Cost: 3 tokens (with level 1 character discount)
Description:

Six Feet Under - the ability to basically hide in or fast-travel through the ground. To go into the technicals:

  • The ability to affect the tangibility of any ground he's directly in contact with, allowing him to sink into the ground and stay there. It will feel a bit like swimming through water, but with magnitudes less friction.
  • While underground he can breathe and move without effort. However, he needs to be conscious and lightly focused to stay underground (roughly the concentration level of remembering to hold onto an object); if his concentration is badly disrupted or he loses consciousness, he's violently ejected from the earth and spit out onto the ground in very uncool fashion.
  • He can stay underground for about half an hour for before the physical pressure starts to be too much and he needs to come back above ground. After hitting his thirty-minute limit, he needs a recovery period of an hour before he can use it again. He can use the ability in quick bursts, but his ratio of usage:recovery still remains 1:2 in the long run.
  • While underground he can 'glide' through the earth, allowing him to move at a speed up to 5 times a normal person's running speed. This uses up about the same amount of physical stamina as running; if he spends his entire 30 minutes doing it he won't emerge completely wiped, but will definitely need to slow down during his recovery time.
  • While underground it's only the earth itself (including any small obstacles that he mentally considers part of the earth, like tree roots, rocks, etc.) that's intangible to him. He's still vulnerable to anything that can penetrate through the earth (physical or magical), and can also be 'dug up' by other earth-shifting abilities unless he physically dodges them. His presence can also still be detected by other supernatural means.
  • He can make the transition of tangibility smooth or abrupt, i.e. he can sink slowly into the earth or just plunge into it instantly like it's water, can creep out of it stealthily or form a foothold while underground to launch out of it for an ambush, only poke out a hand to grab at something, etc. However he does it, he leaves behind no marks of his movements into or out of the earth.
  • Only works on 'ground,' i.e. surface he can stand on, no walls. Also works on surfaces like the second floor of a building, allowing him to drop through to the floor below, but uses up more energy if it's not directly in contact with the earth.
  • The ability can also affect anything he's in direct contact with. If he takes something underground in part or in whole and lets go of it, it will be left buried in the earth there. Clothing and objects on his person can be brought along with zero effort. Bigger or heavier objects require a proportional amount of physical strain.
  • Anything that Gen perceives as having sentience requires much higher mental strain to bring underground. Organisms like plants, bugs and fish require basically no extra effort. Animals like reptiles or mammals require some concentration to sink into the earth, but he can essentially trap them by grabbing them, sinking into the ground, then pulling away and emerging alone. In moments of very high desperation he might be able to use this method on one guard-level NPC, but it would nuke his entire 30-minute "energy pool" in one go and require the full recovery time afterward.
  • PCs, due to their sentience and general extra power levels, are off-limits for being fully sunk into the earth. Though Gen can affect them in part (e.g. grabbing someone's arm and then sinking into the earth to bury them up to the shoulder), he can't affect more than about a third of their body before the mental strain becomes too much. This counts for both friendly or hostile PCs.

Notes: I was told it would be okay to cash in tokens for a power even if it won't be unlocked until later when Gen actually aligns himself with a faction and thus harmonizes to at least Tier 1. So even if this token purchase goes through, I presume Gen won't really feel any changes or benefit from it, sucks to be him!
